{$} சிந்தியா எழுகின்றேனே
I wake up from sleep thinking of
நம்பனை
Civaṉ who is desired by all
[[நம்பும் மேவும் நசையாகும்மே (Tolkāppiyam, Uri Iyal, 31)]]
நகரம் மூன்றும் எரிஉண வெருவ நோக்கும் அம்பனை
who has a arrow on which he fixed his look to make all the three cities to be consumed by fire and the acurar in them to be afraid of him.
அமுதை
who is the nectar that grants immortality.
ஆற்றை
who is the right path.
அணிபொழில் கச்சியுள் ஏகம்பனை
who is in Ēkampam in Kacci which has beautiful gardens.
கதிர் வெண்திங்கள் செஞ்சடைக் கடவுள் தன்னை
who is the god who has on his red caṭai a white crescent spreading rays.
செம்பொனை
the superior gold.
பவளத்தூணை
and a pillar of coral.

{$} ஒரு முழம் உள்ள குட்டம்
the pond which is one cubit long
[[the body is compared to a pond]]
ஒன்பது துளை உடைத்தாய்
having nine apertures.
அரை முழம் அகலம்
its width is half a cubit.
அதனில் வாழ் முதலை ஐந்து
there are five crocodiles living in it
[[the five sense organs are compared to crocodiles]]
பெருமுழை வாய்தல் பற்றிக் கிடந்து நான் பிதற்றுகின்றேன்
I am prattling lying helplessly catching hold of the entrance which is like a big cave.
கருமுகில் தவழும் மாடக்கச்சி ஏகம்பனீரே
the Lord in Ēkampam in Kacci, which has storeys on which black clouds crawl.

{$} மலையினார் மகள் ஓர்பாகர்
Civaṉ has one half the daughter of the mountain.
மைந்தனார்
he has great strength.
மழு ஒன்று ஏந்தி
holding a battle-axe.
சிலையினால் மதில்கள் மூன்றும் தீ எழச் செற்ற செல்வர்
the god who destroyed all the three forts with a bow to make fire rise in them.
இலையினார் சூலம் ஏந்தி ஏகம்பம் மேவினாரை
who is in Ēkampam holding a trident of three blades.
தலையினால் வணங்க வல்லார் தலைவர்க்கும் தலைவர் தாமே
those who are capable of playing homage to him by bending their heads are really masters of so-called masters who are so in name only.

{$} பூத்த பொன் கொன்றைமாலை புரிசடைக்கு அணிந்த செல்வர்
the god who adorned his twisted caṭai with a garland of blossomed koṉṟai which is golden in colour.
தீர்த்தம் ஆம் கங்கையாளைத் திருமுடி திகழ வைத்து
placing on his holy head the holy water of Kankaiyāḷ to shine.
ஏத்துவார் ஏத்த நின்ற ஏகம்பம் மேவினாரை வாழ்த்துமாறு அறியமாட்டேன்
I am incapable of uttering songs benediction on the god who is in Ēkampam and who remains permanently to be praised by devotees whose duty is praising god.
மால் கொடு மயங்கினேன் (ஏ)
I was confused with aberration of mind.

{$} மையின் ஆர் மலர்நெடுங்கண் மங்கை ஓர்பங்கர் ஆகி
having a lady who has long eyes coated with collyrium which resemble flowers.
கையில் ஓர் கபாலம் ஏந்தி
holding a skull in the hand
கடைதொறும் பலி கொள்வார் (தாம்)
will receive alms in every entrance of the houses.
எய்வது ஓர் ஏனம் ஓட்டி
chasing a wild pig on which an arrow can be discharged.
ஏகம்பம் மேவினாரைக் கையினால் தொழவல்லார்க்கு
for those who can worship the Lord in Ēkampam with joined hands.
கடுவினை களையலாமே
the rooting out of evil destiny is possible.

{$} (1) தருவினை மருவும் கங்கை தங்கிய சடையன்
Civaṉ on whose caṭai Kaṅkai which is accustomed to grant virtue for those who bathe on it.
எங்கள் அருவினை அகல நல்கும் அண்ணலை
our God who grants his grace for the irresistible acts of our to be away from us.
அமரர் போற்றும் திருவினை
the wealth which is praised by the immortals.
திருவேகம்பம் செப்பட உறையவல்ல உருவினை
the form of God who can dwell neatly in Tiruvēkampam.
உருகி ஆங்கே உள்ளத்தால் உகக்கின்றேனே
I love with my mind, my heart melting.

{$} கொண்டது ஓர் கோலம் ஆகி
being the form which he assumes out of his free will.
கோலக்கா உடைய கூத்தன்
the dancer who has as his shrine Kōlakkā

ஓர் நஞ்சம் உண்டது ஆகில்
if he consumed the unequalled poison.
உலகு எல்லாம் உய்யக் கொண்டான்
he thereby saved all the beings in all the worlds.
எண்திசையாரும் ஏத்த நின்ற ஏகம்பன் தன்னைக் கண்டு
obtaining a vision of Ēkampaṉ who remains to be worshipped by all the people in the eight directions.
நான் அடிமை செய்வான் கருதியே திரிகின்றேன்(ஏ)
I am wandering with the idea of doing service as a bonded servant.

{$} படம் உடை(ய) அரவினோடு பணிமதியதனைச் சூடி
wearing a cool crescent along with a cobra with a hood.
கண்டவர் அஞ்ச கடம் உடை(ய) உரிவைமூடி
covering himself with the skin of an elephant which has must, to make people who see him frightened.
இடம் உடைக்கச்சி தன்னுள் ஏகம்பம் மேவினான் தன் நடம் உடை ஆடல் காண ஞாலம்(தான்) உயர்ந்த வாறே
what a wonder the people of this world saved themselves by witnessing the performance of naṭam by the god who is in Ēkampam of Kacci having extensive space.

{$} பொன் திகழ் கொன்றைமாலை பொருந்திய செடுந்தண்மார்பர்
Civaṉ wears on his long and cool chest a garland of koṉṟai flowers shining like gold;

நன்றி இல் புகுந்து என் உள்ளம்
entering into my mind to do good to me.
மெள்ளவே நவில நின்று
remaining there to move with him always, quietly.
குன்றியில் அடுத்த மேனிக் குவளை அம்கண்டர்
Civaṉ who has a body as red as the red seed of crab's-eye and a neck as blue as the blue nelumbo flower

எம்மை இன்துயில் போது கண்டார்
saw me when I was having sweet sleep
ஏகம்பனார் இனியர்
the Lord in Ēkampam is a lovable god.

பழனத்து உள்ளார்
is in Paḻaṉam
தொண்டர்கள் பலரும் ஏத்த
where many devotees praise him.
அருத்தியால் அன்பு செய்வார் அவர் அவர்க்கு அருள்கள் (1)செய்தே
bestowing his grace on sincere devotees who cherish him with love with avidity, individually.
எருத்தினை இசைய ஏறி
riding on a bull in a fitting manner.
ஏகம்பம் மேவினார்க்கு வருத்திநின்று அடிமை செய்ய
to do bonded service to the Lord who is in Ēkampam, by strenous efforts.
வல்வினை மாயும் (அன்றே)
irresistible acts will disappear.
