Civaṉ, the Lord of the universe, who covered himself with an elephant's skin wet with blood, which is black colour like iron.
கரும்பு கொப்பளித்த இன் சொற் காரிகை பாகமாக (உம்)
when there was already a beautiful lady of sweet words like juice of the sugar-cane.
சுரும்பு கொப்பளித்த கங்கைத் துவலை நீர் சடையில் ஏற்ற அரும்பு கொப்பளித்த சென்னி அதிகை வீரட்டனார் (ஏ)
is Atikai Viraṭṭaṉar who has on his head buds blossoming and who received the water-drops of Kaṅkai on which bees swarm.

wearing a white and curved crescent of the moon, which is curved like a horn.
வம்பு (கொப்பளித்த) கொன்றை வளர்சடை மேலும் வைத்து
placing also on the growing caṭai fragrant koṉṟai flowers.
செம்பு (கொப்பளித்த) (மூன்று மதில் உடன் சுருங்க வாங்கி அம்பு (கொப்பளிக்க) எய்தார் அதிகை வீரட்டனார் (ஏ)
Civaṉ in atikai vīraṭṭam discharged an arrow, drawing it near the shoulders to reduce the strength of the three forts which resemble copper in colour, simultaneously.

{$} விடையும் (கொப்பளித்த) பாதம் விண்ணவர் பரவி ஏத்த
the celestials of heaven to praise in the second and third person the feet of Civaṉ which are placed on the bull; of ஏறு கொப்பளித்த பாதம் verse 5 of this decade)
சடையும் (கொப்பளித்த) திங்கள் சாந்தம் வெண்ணீறு பூசி
wearing on the caṭai a crescent and smearing sacred white ash as sandal-paste.

the cobra is his dress.
உள்குவார் உள்ளத்து என்றும் அடையும் (கொப்பளித்த) சீரார் அதிகை வீரட்டனார் (ஏ)
Civaṉ in aṭikai vīraṭṭam has the fame of reaching always the hearts of those who fix their thoughts on him.

{$} கறையும் கொப்பளித்த கண்டர்
Civaṉ has a neck in which there is poison.
காமவேள் உருவம் மங்க இறையும் (கொப்பளித்த) கண்ணார்
has a frontal eye from which a little fire was issue to make the body of Kāmavēl to perish.
ஏத்துவார் இடர்கள் தீர்/ப்பார்
will remove the sufferings of those who praise him.
மறையும் (கொப்பளித்த) நாவர்
has a tongue with which he chants the vētams.

Civaṉ has smeared on his chest sacred ash which appears as if it is discharging in jets.

holding a battle-axe which is shining brightly.
கூறு (கொப்பளித்த) கோதைக் கோல்வளை மாது ஓர்பாகம்
having a lady wearing bangles of exquisite workmanship and having tresses dressed in five different styles, on one half
ஏறு (கொப்பளித்த) பாதம் வானவர் (1) பரவி ஏத்த
the celestials who do not wink to praise his feet placed on the bull.
ஆறு (கொப்பளித்த) சென்னி அதிகை வீரட்டனாரே
is atikai vīrattaṉar on whose head the river Kaṅkai discharges water in jets.

the residents of heaven to praise in the second and third persons the feet which deserve homage from all human beings, celestials and living beings.
பிணங்கு (கொப்பளித்த) சென்னிச் சடையுடைப் பெருமை அண்ணல்
the great god who has on his head a intertwining caṭai.
சுணங்கு (கொப்பளித்த) கொங்கைச் சுரிகுழல் பாகமாக அணங்கு கொப்பளித்த மேனி அதிகைவீரட்டனார் (ஏ)
is the Lord in atikai vīrattam who has a form from which beauty is flowing and having a lady of curly tresses, and breasts on which yellow beautiful spots spread.

Civaṉ holds in his hand a trident.
சுடர்விடு மழுவாள் வீசி
ant flinging the weapon of a battle-axe which sheds lustre.
நூலும் (கொப்பளித்த) மார்பில் நுண்பொறி அரவம் சேர்த்தி
joining a cobra of tiny spots in the chest which wears a sacred thread.
மாலும் (கொப்பளித்த) பாகர்
has on one half-māl;

and placing the crescent which is hidden in the cloud and appears again very often, on the loosened caṭai.
பாகம் (கொப்பளித்த) மாதர் பண்ணுடன் பாடி ஆட
the lady who is on one half dances and sings melody types along with him.
ஆகம் (கொப்பளித்த) தோளார் அதிகை வீரட்டனார் (ஏ)
is Atikai Vīraṭṭaṉār who has shoulders extending from the body.

the devotees praise Civaṉ by songs which are combined with melody types and are addressed to him in the second person.

placing on his loosened caṭai Kaṅkai in which many things are combined to stay there.

has a neck resembling night

{$} தொண்டை (கொப்பளித்த) செவ்வாய்த் துடியிடைப் பரவை அல்குல் கொண்டை (கொப்பளித்த) கோதைக் கோல்வளைபாகம் ஆக
when the lady who wears beautiful bangles, and adorns her hair dressing it in large coil on the head has red lips like the fruit of the common creeper of the hedges, a small waist like the drum tapering in the middle and a waist like the sea.

is the Lord in Vīraṭṭam on the bank of Keṭilam of clear water where a variety of fish by name Kaṅṭai is thriving and where the carp with lines drinks the sweet honey spat by the bees and becomes dispirited due to intoxication.
