வேலின் நேர்தரு கண்னிணாள் உமை பங்கன்
Civaṉ who has as a half Umai whose eyes are like vēl.
அங்கணன்
who has looks with compassion on his devotees.
மிழலை மா நகர் ஆல நீழலில் மேவினான் அடிக்கு அன்பர்
those who cherish with love Civaṉ who is seated under the shade of the banyan tree and who is in the great city of Miḻalai.
துன்பு இலர்
have no sufferings.

விளங்கு நான் மறைவல்ல வேதியர் மல்கு சீர் வளர் மிழலையான் அடி
the feet of Civaṉ in Miḻalai of increasing fame where brahmins who are well-versed in the renowned Vētam-s dwell.
உளம் கொள்வார் தமை உளம் கொள்வார் வினை
the karmam-s of those who think of those who fix in their minds (the feet of Civaṉ)
ஒல்லை ஆசறும்
will quickly come to an end.

விசையினோடு எழுபு அசையும் நஞ்சினை அசைவு செய்தவன்
Civaṉ who consumed the moving poison and lessened its cruelty.
மிழலை மாநகர் இசையும் ஈசனை நசையின் மேவினால்
if one approaches Civaṉ who is in the great city of Miḻalai, with love.
மிசை செயா, வினையே
Karmams will not afflict him.

this is like திகை becoming திசை ]]

வென்றி சேர் கொடி மூடு மாமதிள் மிழலை மாநகர் மேவி
dwelling in the city of Miḻalai which has fortified walls which are covered with victorious flags.
நாள் தொறும் நின்ற ஆதிதன் அடி நினைப்பவர் துன்பம் இலர்
those who meditate daily on the feet of the origin of all things who is permanently there, have no sufferings.

போதகம் தனை உரி செய்தோன் புயல் நேர் வரும் பொழில் மிழலை மாநகர் ஆதரம் செய்த அடிகள் பாதம் அல்லால் ஓர் பற்று இலமே
we have no other support except the feet of the god who dwelt in the great city of Miḻalai which has gardens on which clouds stay and which is the loving abode of Civaṉ who flayed the skin of an elephant.
[[புயலின் நேர் வரும் பொழில் may also mean gardens as cool as clouds.]]

தக்கன் வேள்வியைச் சாடினார் மணி தொக்க மாளிகை மிழலை மேவிய நக்கனார் அடி தொழுமவர் மேல் விளை நாள் தொறும் கெடும்
the karmam-s of those who worship the feet of the naked Civaṉ who is in Miḻalai which has mansions where precious stones are set, and who destroyed the sacrifice performed by Takkaṉ, will perish daily.

போர் அணாவும் முப்புரம் எரித்தவன், பொழில்கள் சூழ் தரு மிழலை மாநகர்ச், சேரு மீசனைச் சிந்தை செய்பவர் தீவினை கெடும்
the sins of those who meditate upon Civaṉ who dwells in the great city of Miḻalai surrounded by gardens, and who burnt the three cities which approached Civaṉ in war.

இரக்கம் இல் தொழில் அரக்கனார் உடல் நெருக்கினான் மிகு மிழலையான் அடி, சிரக்கொள் பூ வென ஒருக்கினார் புகழ் பரக்கும் நீள் புவியே
the fame of those who concentrated their minds fixing the feet of Civaṉ in Miḻalai as the flower that could be placed on the head, and Civaṉ who crushed the body of [the] arakkaṉ who committed acts without pity, will spread in this wide world.

துன்று பூமகன் பன்றி ஆனவன் ஒன்றும் ஓர்கிலா மிழலையானடி
as the feet of Civaṉ in Miḻalai whom Piramaṉ seated in a flower and Māl who assumed the body of a pig were not able to know even a little (of his greatness)
சென்று பூம்புனல் நின்று தூவினார் நன்று சேர்பவரே
those who scattered flowers and water, approaching him, will attain eternal bliss.

புத்தர் கைச் சமண் பித்தர் பொய்க்குவை வைத்த வித்தகன் மிழலை மாநகர் சித்தம் வைத்தவர்
those who fixed their thoughts on the great city of Miḻalai which is the abode of the able god who made the bundle of lies of the mad and mean camaṇar and buddhists, to suffer defeat.
இத்தலத்தினால் மெய்த்தவத்தவரே
are people who did sincere penance in this world.

சந்தம் ஆர் பொழில் மிழலை ஈசனைச் சண்பை ஞானசம்பந்தன் வாய் நவில் பந்தம் ஆர் தமிழ் பத்தும் வல்லவர்
those who can recite the ten tamiḻ verses which can keep listeners spell-bound and which came of the mouth of Ñāṉacampantaṉ in Caṇpai, on Civaṉ in Miḻalai which has sandal-wood gardens.
பத்தர் ஆகுவரே
will become pious persons.
