{$} நல்வெண்ணெய் விழுது பெய்து நாள்தொறும் ஆடுதிர்
you bathe daily in the ghee got from melting genuine butter mixing with it four other products of the cow namely milk, curd, its urine, its dung.
நெல்வெண்ணெய் மேவிய நீரே
you who dwell in Nelveṇṇai.
நெல்வெண்ணெய்மேவிய நீரே

உமைநாள்தொறும் சொல் வணம் இடுவது சொல்லே
the words that are useful to praise you are fit to be called fruitful words.

{$} நிச்சலும் அடியவர் தொழுது எழு நெல் வெண்ணெய்க் கச்சுஇள அரவு அசைத்தீரே
you tied a young cobra as a belt and dwell in Nelveṇṇai which the devotees worship with joined hands and then get up from sleep, daily.
கச்சு இள அரவு அசைத்தீரே

உமைக் காண்பவர் கச்சமோடு அருவினை இலரே
those who have obtained a vision of you have no fear and irresistible acts.

{$} நிரை விரி தொல் புகழ் நெல் வெண்ணெய் மேவிய அரைவிரிகோவணத்தீரே
Civaṉ who wears a loin cloth spread out in the waist and who dwells in Nelveṇṇai of ancient fame which has spread throught the world in rows.
அரைவிரிகோவணத்தீரே

உமை அலர் கொடு உரைவிரிப்போர் உயர்ந்தோரே
those who sing dilating upon your fame, having worshipped you with flowers, are great men.

{$} நீர்மல்கு தொல்புகழ் நெல்வெண்ணெய் மேவிய ஊர் மல்கி உறைய வல்லீரே
Civaṉ who is capable of dwelling in the place which has the name of nelveṇṇai which has ancient fame and increasing water facility.

உமை உள்குதல் பார்மல்கு புகழவர் பண்பே
always meditating on you is the character of those who have fame which increases in this world.

{$} நீடு இளம்பொழில் அணி நெல் வெண்ணெய் மேவிய ஆடு இளம்(1) பாப்பு அசைத்தீரே
Civaṉ who tied a young cobra which can dance, and who dwells in nelveṇṇai beautified by gardens having tall and young trees.

the character of those who have a mind to sing your praises with love (is supreme in this world) (the words within brackets are supplied to complete the sense)

{$} நெற்றி ஓர்கண் உடை (ய) நெல்வெண்ணெய் மேவிய பெற்றிகொள் பிறைநுதலீரே
Civaṉ who wears a crescent on the forehead and who has the nature of bestowing your grace and who dwells in nelveṇṇai, and who has an eye on the forehead;

உமைப்பேணுதல் கற்று அறிவோர்கள் தம் கடனே
cherishing you with love is the duty of those who have learning and imbibed the fruits of that learning.

{$} நிறையவர் தொழுது எழு நெல் வெண்ணெய் மேவிய கறை அணி மிடறுஉடையீரே
Civaṉ who has a neck beautified by the poison and who dwells in nelveṇṇei where people of moral firmness and strength of mind worship you with folded hands and get up from sleep!

உமைக்காண்பவர் உறைவதும் உம் அடிக்கீழே
those who have a vision of you wish to dwell under your feet dwelling under the feet of Civaṉ is salvation;

{$} நெருக்கிய பொழில் அணி நெல்வெண்ணெய் மேவியன்று, அரக்கனை அசைவு செய்தீரே
Civaṉ who dwelt in Nelveṇṇei beautified by dense gardens and dealt defeat to the arakkaṉ in the distant past!

உமை அன்பு செய்து இருக்கவல்லார் இடர் இலரே
those who are able to cherish you with love will have no sufferings.

{$} நிரைவிரி சடைமுடி நெல்வெண்ணெய் மேவியன்று, இருவரை இடர்கள் செய்தீரே
Civaṉ who dwells in Nelveṇṇei and has a spread out caṭai in rows and caused sufferings to two persons Māl and Piramaṉ, in the distant past!

உமை இசைவொடு பரவவல்லார் (1) பழி இலரே
those who are able to praise in the second person, their thought, word and deed agreeing with one another, have no reproach.

{$} நீக்கிய புனல் அணி நெல்வெண்ணெய் மேவிய சாக்கியச்சமண் கெடுத்தீரே
Civaṉ who dwells in Nelveṇṇei made beautiful by water which removes poverty, and diseases and who destroyed the cākkiyar (buddhists) and camaṇar.

உமைச்சார்வது பாக்கியம் உடையவர் பண்பே
the nature of those who have the good fortune is approaching you as their support.

{$} நிலம் மல்கு தொல்புகழ் நெல்வெண்ணெய் ஈசனை
on Civaṉ who remains in Nelveṇṇei of ancient fame which is increasing in the world.
நலம் மல்கு ஞானசம்பந்தன்
ñāṉacampantaṉ who possesses good qualities in an abundant measure.
நலம்மல்கு ஞானசம்பந்தன செந்தமிழ் சொலமல்குவார்துயர் இலரே
those who can recite the refined tamiḻ verses of ñāṉacampantaṉ of increasing good qualities will have increased prosperity and will have no sufferings.
