{$} மத்தம் அணி பெற மலர்வது ஓர் மதி புரை நுதல்
Civaṉ has a forehead as beautiful as the crescent that shines; adding beauty in his head.
கரம் ஒத்து அகம் நக மணி மிளிர்வது ஓர் அரவினர்
has a cobra which has glittering gems being appropriate to his hand and make those have vision of him feel joy.
அத்தக அடி தொழ அருள் பெறு 1. கண்ணொடும் உமையவள் வித்தகர் உறைவது
the temple where the skilful husband of Umayaval dwells, with eyes that have compassion on devotees who worship his feet according to rules.
விரிபொழில் வளநகர் விளமரே
is viḷamar, the fertile city which has extensive gardens.

{$} பட்டு இலகிய முலை அரிவையர் உலகினில் இடுபலி ஒட்டு இலகு இணை மரவடியினர்
wears a pair of shining wooden sandals, when he goes, fixing them in his feet, when ladies on whose breasts silk bodice is shining, give him alms in the world.

உமை உறு வடிவினர்
has a body in which there is Umai.
சிட்டு இலகிய பொடியினர்
smears themself with superior sacred ash.
விடை மிசை சேர்வது ஓர் விட்டு இலகு அழகு ஒளி பெயர்வர்
goes from place to place with a brightness which shines intermittently, on a bull.
உறைவது விளமரே
his dwelling place is viḷamar.

{$} அம் கதிர் ஒளியினர்
Civaṉ has the brilliance of the beautiful sun.
அரையிடை மிளிர்வது ஓர் அரவொடு
with a cobra which is glittering in the waist.
செங்கதிர் என நிற மனையது ஓர் செழுமணி மார்பினர்
has a chest on which he wears a superior gem which is like the sun and has colour like that sun.
சங்கு அதிர் பறை குழல் முழவினொடு இசை தரு சரிதையர்
performs dance to the accompaniment of conch, paṟai of great sound, flute and muḻavu.
வெங்கதிர் உறு மழு உடையவர் இடம் எனில் விளமர்
if you speak about the place of Civaṉ who has a battle-axe of hot rays, it is viḷamar

{$} 1. மாடம் அது எனவளர் மதில் அவை எரி செய்தவர்
Civaṉ burnt the forts which were as high as storeys.
விரவு சீர்ப் பீடு என அருமறை உறை செய்வர்
will chant the abstrue vētams which have as their subject his greatness spread over them.
பெரிய பல சரிதைகள் பாடலர்
has many of this great conducts sung by his devotees.
ஆடிய சுடலையில் இடம் உற நடம் நவில் வேடம் (அது) உடையவர் வியல் நகர்(அது) சொலில் விளமரே
if we speak about the extensive city of civna who has a form appropriate to the performance of dance having as the stage in the cremation ground when fire was burning, it is viḷamar.

{$} பண் தலை மழலை செய் யாழ் என மொழி உமை பாகமாக் கொண்டு
having as a half Umai who speaks words as sweet as the music of the sweet yāḻ which produced melody-types;
அலை குரைகழல் அடிதொழும் அவர்வினை குறுகிலர்
those who worship his feet which wear sounding and moving Kaḻal will not be near their Karnams (The Karnams will leave them of their own accord)
விண் தலை அமரர்கள் துதி செய் அருள்புரி விறலினர்
has the distinctive excellence of granting his grace when the immortals in heave praise him.
வெண்தலை பலிகொளும் விமலர்தம் வளநகர் விளமர்
viḷamar is the fertile city of the spotless god who receives alms in a white skull.

{$} மனைகள் தொறு இடு பலி (அது) கொள்வர்
will receive alms that is given in each and every house.
மதி பொதி சடையினர்
has crescent which stays in his caṭai.
கனைகடல் அடுவிடம் அமுது செய் கறை அணி மிடறினர்
has a neck beautified by the black colour when he consumed the poison that rose in the roaring ocean to kill beings.
முனை கெட வரும் மதிள் எரி செய்த அவர் கழல் பரவுவார் வினை கெட
to destroy the Karmams of those who praise feet of Civaṉ who burnt the forts which opposed him in battle to meet only with destruction.
அருள் புரி தொழிலினர் செழுநகர் விளமர்
viḷamar's the fertile city of the god who has as his duty granting his grace.

{$} நெறிகமழ்தரும் உரை உணர்பவர்
Civaṉ is realised by ākaman, which are his words, and which contain the four paths of reaching him. (the four paths are cariyai, kiriyai, yōkam and ñaṉam)
(He dwells in the words and minds of those who follow the path, caivism; is another meaning)
புணர் வுறும் மடவரல் செறி கமழ் தரும் உரு உடையவர்
has a body in which the lady who is not separate from Civaṉ is united closely with him.
படை பல பயில்பவர்
possesses many weapons as if he is practising them.
பொறிகமழ் தரு பட அரவினர்
has a cobra in whose hood there are many spots.
விரவிய சடைமிசை வெறிகமழ் தரு மலர் அடைபவர் இடம் எனில்
if it is the place of Civaṉ who has on his catai in which many things are united, and fragrant flowers are adorned by his devotees, is viḷamar.

{$} தெண் கடல் புடை அணி நெடு மதில் இலங்கையர் தலைவனைப் புண்பட வரை தனில் அடர் செய்த பைங்கழல் வடிவினர்
Civaṉ has a body in which he wears golden Kaḻal with which he pressed to cause wounds to the chief of the people of ilaṅkai which has high walls of fortification and is beautified by the ocean on all sides, in the mountain (Kayilai)
திண் கடல் அடை புனல் திகழ் சடை புகுவது ஒர் சேர்வினார்
who has as a place a shining catai into which the water of Kailkai which normally reaches the strong sea enters.
விண்கடல் 1. விடல் மலி அடிகள் தம் வளநகர் விளமரே
viḷamar is the fertile city of the god in whose neck the poison which rose in the ocean which reaches the sky by its surging waves, is increasing in colour.

{$} தொண்டு அசை வுற வருதுயர் உறு காலனை மாள்வுற, அண்டல் செய்து
killing the Kālaṉ (god of death) who inflicts suffering on beings to destroy the service to god, and who came to take away the life (of markaṇtēyaṉ)
அண்டல் செய்து
and commanding him to act according to orders, coming near god.
இருவரை வெரு வுற ஆர் அழல் ஆயினார்
who assumed the form of fire that cannot be seen, to frighten the two persons, Māl and Piramaṉ.
கொண்டல் செய் திரு மிடறினர் இடம் எனில்
if we speak about the place of Civaṉ who has a neck resembling the sable cloud.
அளி இனம் 1. விண்டு இசை உறுமலர் நறுமது விரி பொழில் விளமரே
is viḷamar which has gardens which pour fragrant honey from flowers on which the swarms of bees open the petals and hum like music.

{$} ஒள்ளியர் தொழுது எழ உலகினில் உரைசெயும் மொழி பல
there are many languages in this world spoken of as such to which intellectuals pay homage and praise them.
கொள்ளிய களவினர்
the amaṇar who stole from other religions words for their doctrines from those languages.
குண்டிகையவர் தவம் 1. அறிகிலார்
and buddhists who carry an ascetic's pitcher are incapable of knowing what penance is
பள்ளியை மெய்யெனக் கருதன்மின்
devotees, do not think the words of those people as truth.
வெள்ளிய பிறை அணி சடையினர் வள நகர் விளமர் பரிவொடு பேணுவீர்
regard with love the fertile city of viḷamar of Civaṉ who adorns his caṭai with a white crescent.

{$} வெந்த வெண் பொடி அணி அடிகளை, விளமருள் விகிர்தரை
about Civaṉ who smears himself with well-burnt white sacred ash and who is different from the world and dwells in viḷamar
சிந்தையுள் இடைபெற உரை செய்த தமிழ் இவை
these tamiḻ verses spoken which have as their place, the mind;

உளம் பெருங்களன் செய்ததும் இலை நெஞ்சே (tiruvācakam; tiruccatakam, 35)]]
செழுவிய அந்தணர் புகலியுள் அழகு அமர் அருமறை ஞானசம்பந்தன மொழி இவை உரை செயும் அவர் வினை பறையும்
the actions of those who recite the words of ñāṉacampataṉ who has knowledge of the beautiful and abstruse vetams in pukali where prosperous brahmins live, will vanish by slow degrees.
