{$} சீர் மருவு தேசினொடு தேசமலி செல்வம் மறையோர்கள் பணிய
as the brahmins who possess eminent lustre and wealth of devotion to god which are praised throughout Tamiḻ Nāṭu, do obeisance.
தார் மருவு கொன்றை அணி தாழ் சடையினான் அமர் சயங்கொள் பதி (தான்)
the place which is victorious among the shrines, and where Civaṉ who has a hanging caṭai in which he wears koṉṟai flowers which blossom in garlands.
பார் மருவு பங்கயம் உயர்ந்த வயல் சூழ் பழனம் நீட அருகே
when the agricultural tracts are excessively fertile which are surrounded by fields where lotus which has roots in the earth grows tall, nearby.
கார் மருவு வெண் 1. கனகம் மாளிகை கவின் பெருகு வீழி நகரே
is the city of vīḻi of increasing beauty where the white coloured mansions which abound in wealth and on which clouds settle.

இட்ட பணிலத்தினொடு
and with conches which were blown.
பல் மறைகள் ஓது பணி நல் 1. சிட்டர்கள்
brahmins of good conduct who do the service of chanting vētams having many parts.
சயத்துதி செய்ய அருள் செய்தழல் கொள் மேனியவன் ஊர்
the place of Civaṉ who has a form of fire and grants his grace to them when they sing songs of praise, Let there be victory to you.
மட்டு உலவு செங்கமல வேலிவயல் செந்நெல் வளர் மன்னு பொழில் வாய்விட்டு உலவு தென்றல் விரை நாறு பதி வேதியார்கள் வீழி நகரே
the city of vīḻi where brahmins of vēdic lore live, is the place where the fragrant southern balmy breeze blows intermittently in the permanent gardens and where the superior variety of red paddy grows in the fields which are surrounded by red lotus flowers havign honey like fence.

the celestials who descend to this earth and other human beings in fertile places, to derive happiness which is highly estimable and superior to others.
எழில் ஆர் பொழில் இலங்கு அறுபதம் பண் இழிவு இலாதவகை பாட
the bees with six legs which are shining in the beautiful gardens hum melody-types without any mistake.
மட மஞ்ஞை நடம் ஆட
and the young peacocks dance.
அழகு ஆர் விண் இழி விமானம் உடை விண்ணவர் பிரான் மருவு வீழி நகரே
is the city of vīḻi where the chief of the celestial being who have a vimāṉam of exquisite beauty that descended from heaven, dwells.

persons who have knowledge of refined and standard tamiḻ.
தெய்வமறைநாவர்
persons whose tongues chant vētam endowed with divinity.
செழுநற்கலை தெரிந்த அவரோடு அந்தம் இல் குணத்தவர்கள் அர்ச்சனைகள் செய்ய அமர்கின்ற அரன் ஊர்
the place where araṉ dwells with desire where people of countless good character perform arccaṉaikaḷ along with people who have a discerning knowledge of good and flourishing arts.
கொந்து அலர் பொழில் பழனவேலி, குளிர் தண் புனல் வளம் பெருகவே
as the fertility of the very cool water increases in the gardens which blossom in bunches, and the surrounding fields.
வெந்திறல் விளங்கிவளர் வேதியர் விரும்புபதி வீழி நகரே
is the city of vīḻi which is desired by the brahmins who prosper with powers that are desirable.

{$} பூதபதி ஆகிய புராண முனி
the ancient Civaṉ who is the chief of the pūtams and who assumed the form of an ascetic.
புண்ணிய நன் மாதைப் பேதம் இலாத வகை மருவி
though he combined with the lady who is the personification of grace, without any outward difference.
பாகம் மிக வைத்த பெருமானது இடம் ஆம்
is the place of god who placed her on one half, at the same time the difference to be known to all.
மாதவர்கள் அன்ன மறையாளர்கள்
the brahmins who can be compared to great sages.
வளர்த்த மலி வேள்வி அதனால், ஏதம் இலாதவகை இன்பம் அமர்கின்ற எழில்வீழிநகரே
is the beautiful city of vīḻi where happiness stays without anything being deficient to the many sacrifices performed (by them).

{$} மண்ணில் மறையோர் மருவு வைதிகமும் மாதவமும் மற்றும் உலகத்து எண் இல் பொருள் ஆயவை படைத்த இமையோர்கள் பெருமானது இடம்
the place of the god, Civaṉ who is the chief of the celestials who do not wink, and who created in this earth the conduct of the vēdic path pursued by the brahmins, great penance and other countless things.
நண்ணிவரு நாவலர்கள் நாள் தொறும் வளர்க்க நிகழ்கின்ற புகழ்சேர், விண் உலவு மாளிகை நெருங்கி வளர் நீள் புரிசை வீழி நகர் ஆம்
is the city of vīḻi which has a high wall of fortification inside which mansions on which clouds, crawl, and are crowded, and which has an increasing fame fostered daily by scholars who come to this place.

{$} மந்திர நன் மாமறையினோடு வளர் வேள்வி மிசை மிக்க புகை போய்
the enormous smoke which rose in the sacrifices along with the beneficial mantirams of the vētams.
அந்தரவிசும்பு அணவி அற்புதம் எனப் படரும் ஆழி இருள்வாய்
in the dense darkness which spreads, reaching the sky above, to make people wonder at the darkness even in broad daylight.
மந்தர நன் மாளிகை நிலாவு மணி நீடு கதிர் விட்ட ஒளி போய் வெந்தழல் விளக்கு என விரும்பினர் தருந்து பதி வீழிருகரே
the city of vīḻi is the perfect place where people who desired the long rays emitted by the gems shining in the good mansions which are like the mountain, mantaram, like the light of lamps lit with fire.

{$} ஆனவலியின் தசமுகன் தலை அரங்க அணி ஆழி விரலால்
with the toe which wears a beautiful ring to press down the heads of the ten-headed Irāvaṇaṉ, who was thinking only of his strength (and lifted Kayilai)
ஊன் அமர் உயர்ந்த குருதிப் புனலில் வீழ்தர உணர்ந்தபரன் ஊர்
the place of the supreme god who intentionally pressed him down to fall into the pool of superior blood which flowed from his body.
தேன் அமர் திருந்து பொழில் செங்கனக மாளிகை திகழ்ந்த மதிளோடு ஆன திரு உற்று வளர் அந்தணர் நிறைந்த அணி வீழிநகரே
is the beautiful city of vīḻi which is full of brahmins who have abundant wealth, and which has a wall of fortification protecting the eminent mansions having pure gold and has defectless gardens in which bees live.

{$} ஏன உரு ஆகி மண் இடந்த இமையோனும்
the god who digged into the earth taking the form of a pig;
எழில் அன்ன உருவம் ஆனவனும்
and Piramaṉ who took the form of a beautiful swan.
ஆதியினொடு அந்தம் அறியாத அழல் மேனியவன் ஊர்
the place of Civaṉ who took the form of fire whose head and feet could not be known (by those two)
வான் அணவு மாமதிள் மருங்கு
by the side of the high wall of fortification which touches the sky.
அலர் நெருங்கிய வளம் கொள் பொழில் வாய் 1. வேனல் அமர்வு எய்திட
people like to stay during summer in the garden of fertility and dense flowers.

{$} குண்டு அமணர் ஆகி ஒரு கோலம் மிகு பீலியொடு குண்டிகை பிடித்து
holding an ascetic's pitcher and a bundle of beautiful peacock's feathers, being low as amaṇar.
எண் திசையும் இல்லது ஒரு தெய்வம் உளது என்பர்
they assert that there is a god which is not found in all the eight directions.
அது என்ன பொருள் ஆம்
what is the use of their assertion?
பண்டை அயன் அன்னவர்கள் பாவனை விரும்பு பரன் மேவுபதி
the place where the supreme Civaṉ dwells and who desires the contemplation of the brahmins who are like the ancient Ayaṉ (Piramaṉ); Piramaṉ is compared to the brahmins in this place;

is the beautiful city of vīḻi where the good-natured ladies whose teeth are as bright as the famous white pearls, shine brilliantly.

{$} மத்தம் மலி கொன்றைவளர் சடையில் வைத்த பரன்
on the supreme god who placed on his growing catai profuse by koṉṟai flowers datura flowers.
வீழிநகர் வித்தகனை
and the skilful Civaṉ who is in the city of vīḻi.
வெங்குருவில் வேதியன் விரும்பு தமிழ் மாலைகள் வலார்
those who are able to recite the garland of tamiḻ verse which were adorned with desire by the brahmin (ñāṉacampantaṉ) of veṅkuru (Kāḻi)
சித்திரவிமானம் அமர் செல்வம் மலிகின்ற சிவலோகம்
reaching the Civalōkam which abounds in bliss and beautiful temples.
அத்தகு குணத்தவர்க்ள ஆகி அனுபோகமொடு 1. யோகம் (ம்) அவரது
yōkam along with experience having the appropriate character, is theirs.
