{$} தாறுவிரி பூகம் மலிவாழை விரை நாற
as the areca-palm which unfolds its spathe and abundant plaintain trees spread their fragrance
(1) இணைவாளை மடுவில் வேறுபிரியாது விளையாட
and the pairs of scabbard fish without separation from each other play in the deep pool.
வளம் ஆரும் வயல் வேதிகுடியே
vētikuṭi which has fertile fields.
நீறு வரி ஆடு அரவொடு ஆமை, மனவு, என்பு நிரைபூண்பர்
Civaṉ who wears sacred ash, dancing cobra with lines, tortoise shell, chank beads and garlands of bones.
இடபம் ஏறுவர்
who rides on a bull.
யாவரும் இறைஞ்சு கழல் ஆதியர் இருந்தஇடம் ஆம்
is the place where the origin of all things whose feet all worship, dwells.

{$} சொல் பிரிவு இலாத மறை பாடி
singing vētam whose words are not separate from music.
நடம் ஆடுவர்
Civaṉ dances.
தொல் ஆனை உரிவை மல்புரி புயத்து எந்நாளும் இனிதுமேவுவார்
will wear with pleasure always on his shoulders which are capable of wrestling, the skin of a full-grown elephant.
வளர் வானவர் தொழ
as the celestials whose fear always is increasing, worshipped him.
(1) துற்பு அரிய நஞ்சு அமுதம் ஆகமுன் அயின்றனர்
consumed in the distant past the poison near which none can go, as nectar (துய்ப்பு is a better reading; துய்ப்பு consuming)
இயன்ற தொகுசீர் வெற்பு அரையன் மங்கை ஒரு பங்கர் நகர் என்பர் திருவேதிகுடியே
People say that tiruvētikuṭi is the place of Civaṉ who has on his half a lady of distinction who is the daughter of the King of the mountains, who has fame aquired by many ways. (துற்பு is derived from the root துன் to go near)

{$} போழுமதி, பூண்அரவு, கொன்றை மலர் துன்றுசடை
in the caṭai in which the segment of a full moon (crescent), a winding cobra and flowers of koṉṟai are close together.
வென்றிபுகமேல்வாழு நதிதாழும் அருளாளர்
Civaṉ who has grace enough to let down to flow the river which was in the heaven to make the efforts of pakīrataṉ to be crowned with success.
இருள் ஆர்மிடறர்
who has a neck darkened by the poison.
மாதர் இமையோர் சூழும் இரவாளர்
who is surrounded by the suplicants who are tevar with their consorts, begging for boons.
திருமார்பில் விரிநூலர்
who wears a bright sacred thread on his holy chest.
வரிதோல் உடையர்
has a dress made of tiger's skin;
மேல் வேழ உரிபோர்வையினர் மேவுபதி என்பர்
people say the city of tiruvētikuṭi where the god who covers his upper part of his body with a elephant's skin, is his place.

Civaṉ dances in the cremation-ground.
கரிகாலர்
is death to the elephant which came to kill him.
கனல்கையர்
holds fire in his hand.
அனல்மெய்யர்
has a form which is fire itself.
உடல் செய்யர்
has a red body on account of that
செவியில் தோடர்
wears a woman's ear-ring in one ear.
தெரி கீளர்
wears a well-chosen waist band.
சரி கோவணவர்
wears a loin-cloth that slides down.
ஆவணவர்
possesses a bond by which he claims people as his slaves.
தொல்லைநகர்தான்
the old city belonging to Civaṉ having the foregoing attributes.
பாடல் உடையார்கள் அடியார்கள் மலரோடு புனல்கொண்டு வேடம் ஒளி ஆனபொடி பூசி இசைமேவு திருவேதிகுடியே
is tiruvētīkuṭi where the devotees who are capable of singing his praises, attain fame by smearing themselves with bright holy ash to distinguish them as devotees of Civaṉ and who worship him with flowers and bathe him with water.

{$} சொக்கர்
Civaṉ has great beauty.
துணைமிக்க எயில் உக்கு அறமுனிந்து, தொழும் மூவர் மகிழத் தக்க அருள் பக்கமுறவைத்த அரனார் இனிது தங்கு நகர்தான்
the city where araṉ who placed his grace to make the three people who worshipped him and became angry with the three forts that matually helped themselves, to become dust by being destroyed, stays with pleasure.
கொக்கு அரவம் உற்ற பொழில் வெற்றி நிழல் (1) பற்றிவரி வண்டு இசை குலாம் வேதிகுடி
in the gardens where the cranes make great noise; the bees having lines hum like music on account of the victory gained over the mango leaves by the complexion of ladies.
மிக்க அமரர்மெச்சி இனிது அச்சம் இடர்போக நல்கு வேதிகுடியே
is vētikuṭi which grants its grace to remove sufferings and fear appreciating those ladies in an agreeable manner, to the immortals who have luminous bodies.

{$} செய்யதிருமேனிமிசை வெண்பொடி அணிந்து
Besmearing holy white ash on the red holy body.
கருமான் உரிவைபோர்த்து
covering with the skin of an elephant.
ஐயம் இடும்' என்று மடமங்கையொடு அகம்திரியும் அண்ணல் இடமாம்
is the place of the chief who wanders from house to house with a young lady saying give me alms.
வையம் விலை மாறிடினும்
even if the prices of food stuffs increase in the world.
வேதிகுடி
is vētikuṭi.
ஏறுபுகழ் மிக்கு இழிவு இலாதவகையார்
where cultured people whose superior fame is always on the increasing and does not decrease.
வெய்யமொழி தண்புலவருக்கு உரைசெயாத அவர்
and those who do not speak harsh words to lovable poets, live.

{$} உன்னி இருபோதும் அடிபேணும் அடியார்தம் இடர் ஒல்க அருளித் துன்னி ஒரு நால்வருடன் ஆல் நிழல் இருந்த துணைவன் தன் இடமாம்
the place of the companion who sat under the banyan tree close to the four sages having granted his grace to make the sufferings of the devotees who cherish him with love day and night, fixing their thoughts on his feet, reduced in severity.
கன்னியரொடு ஆடவர்கள் மாமணம் விரும்பி அருமங்கலம் மிக மின்இயலும் நுண்இடைமங்கையர் இயற்றுபதி வேதிகுடி
in vētikuṭi is the place when young ladies who have bending waists like lightning create the eight valued auspicious functions living the great wedding of brige grooms with virgin girls desiring them.

{$} உரக்கரம் நெருப்பு எழ நெருக்கி
squeezing (Irāvaṇaṉ) to issue fire from the chest and hands.
வரைபற்றிய ஒருத்தன் முடிதோள் அரக்கனை அடர்த்து
pressing down the heads and shoulders of irāvanaṉ who is unequalled, and caught hold of the mountain (Kayilai)
அவன் இசைக்கு இனிது நல்கியருள் அங்கணன் இடம்
the place of Civaṉ who has compassion in his eyes and granted boons with pleasure hearing the music sung by him.
முருக்கு இதழ் மடக்கொடி மடந்தையரும் ஆடவரும் மொய்த்த கலகை விரைக்குழல் மிகக்கமழ
the sandal paste mixed with several aromatic substances and smeared thickly on the hair by males and youngladies who are tender like creepers and whose lips are like the flowers of the east indian coral tree, issue a strong smell.
விண் இசை உலாவு திருவேதிகுடியே
is tiruvētikuṭi where that fragrance reaches the heaven and spreads there to become famous.

{$} பூவின் மிசை அந்தணனொடு
along with the brahmin (Piramaṉ) who sits on a lotus flower.
ஆழிபொலி அங்கையனும்
Māl in whose right palm the discus is shining.

to search him.
எரிஆய்
having become a column of fire.
தேவும் இவர் அல்லர்; இனியாவர் எனநின்று திகழ்கின்றவர் இடம்
the place of Civaṉ who shone without diminishing to make people to doubt, he is not even the celestials; who is he?
பாவலர்கள் ஓசை இயல் கேள்வியது அறாதகொடையாளர் பயில்வாம் (வேதிகுடி)
Vētikuṭi where people who are liberal without ceasing and who always listen to the subject contained in iyal tamiḻ works which have sweet sound and which are the productions of great poets.
மேவ அரிய செல்வம் நெடுமாடம் வளர்வீதி நிகழ்வேதிகுடியே
is vētikuṭi where there are streets in which tall storeys which are prosperous and where wealth, not found in other places, stays permanently.

{$} வஞ்ச அமணர்தேரர் மதிகேடர்
the deceptive amaṇar and tēvar (buddists) are evil minded (வஞ்ச அமணர் have become வஞ்சமணர்)
தம் மனத்து அறிவு இலாதவர்மொழி தஞ்சமென என்றும் உணராத அடியார்கருது சைவன் இடம் ஆம்
the place of the caivaṉ (Civaṉ) who is meditated upon by devotees who think about the words of those two people who do not have any knowledge, as their support for their unlift.
அஞ்சுபுலன்வென்று
having conquered the five senses.
அறுவகைப்பொருள் தெரிந்து
and having made researches into the six different religious systems.
எழு இசைக் கிளவியால் வெஞ்சினம் ஒழித்தவர்கள்
people who have destroyed cruel anger by singing songs in praise of god, which have all the seven notes.
மேவி நிகழ்கின்ற திருவேதிகுடியே
is tiruvēṭikuṭi where they live with desire.

{$} கந்தம் மலி தண்பொழில் நல்மாடம் மிடைகாழிவளர் ஞானம் உணர் சம்பந்தன்
campantaṉ who realised knowledge about god and who prospers in Kāḻi which has beautiful storeys and cool gardens with abundant fragrance are very close to each other.
மலி செந்தமிழின் மாலைகொடு திருவேதிகுடி ஆதிகழலே சிந்தைசெயவல்லவர்கள்
those who can meditate upon the feet of Civaṉ in tiruvētikuṭi with the help of the garlands of verses composed in chaste Tamiḻ and pregnant with meaning
நல்லவர்கள் என்ன நிகழ்வு எய்தி
after being eminent in this world as good people
இமையோர் அந்த உலகு எய்தி ஆளும் அதுவே சரதம்
it is definite that they will reach that world of the celestials and rule there.
ஆணை நமதே
the authority for that is ours.
