{$} அரவிரி கோடல் நீடல் அணி காவிரியாற்று அயலே
by the sides of the river, Kāviri, which is made beautiful by the long petals of the white species of malabar glory lily which has a long stalk and which blossoms like the hood of the cobras, is thriving.
மரவிரி போது மௌவல் மணல் மல்லிகை கள் அவிழும் குரவிரி சோலை சூழ்ந்த குடமூக்கு இடமா
the youth having as his place Kutamūkku which is surrounded by gardens in which from the blossomed flowers honey is flowing, flagrant jasmine, arabian jasmine, and blossomed flowers, are found.
இரவிரி திங்கள் சூடி இருந்தான் அவன் குழகன் எம் இறையே
our Lord the youth, is that place having worn the crescent spreading rays.

{$} ஓத்து அரவங்களோடும் ஒலி காவிரி ஆர்த்து
the river, Kaviri roaring along with the sound of the vētams as echo.
அயலே பூத்த அரவங்களோடும் புகை கொண்டு அடி போற்றி
and worshipping the feet with incense for burning and flowers blossomed nearby, and the sound of uttering the names of Civaṉ.
நல்ல கூத்து அரவங்கள் ஓவாக் குடமூக்கு இடமா
having Kuṭamūkku as his place in which the sound of dances which are performed according to rules.
ஏத்து அரவங்கள் செய்ய இருந்தான் அவன் குழகன் எம் இறையே
our Lord is one who was (in that place) when the praising produced a big sound, and is the youth.
(ஓவாக் குடமூக்கு இடமா இருந்தான், ஏத்து அரவங்கள் செய்ய இருந்தான் is a syntactical link).

{$} மயில் பெடை புல்கி ஆல
the male peacock dances embracing its female
மணல் மேல் மட அண்ணம் மல்கும்
the young swans are flock together on the sand.
பயில் பெடை வண்டு பண்செய் பழங்காவிரிப் பைம் பொழில்வாய்
in the verdent garden on the bank of the old Kāviri when the female bees which are in great number hum like melody-types.
குயில் பெடையோடு பாடல் உடையான்
Civaṉ has the song of the indian cuckoo singing with its female.
குடமூக்கு இடமாஇயலொடு வானவர் ஏத்த இருந்தான் அவன்
who is in Kuṭamūkku as his place to be praised by the celestials in the proper manner.
எம் இறையே
is our master.

{$} மிக்கு அரை வேங்கை உரிதாழ
-the skin of the striped tiger to hang very low in the waist.
உமையால் வெருவ அக்கு அரவு ஆமை ஏன மருப்போடு அவை பூண்டு
adorning himself with the hog's tusk, shell of the tortoise, cobra-bead to make Umayāl fear on seeing these.
அழகு ஆர் கொக்கரையோடு பாடல் உடையான்
has songs appropriate to the accompaniment of beautiful Koḵḵarai (Koḵḵarai is a musical instrument).
குடமூக்கு இடமா எக்கரையாரும் ஏத்த இருந்தான் அவன் எம் இறையே
Civaṉ who was in Kuṭamūkku to be praised by the inhabitants of all the islands including people of the camputtivu.

{$} வாள் தடங்கன் வடிவுடை உமை அஞ்சு
Umai who has large eyes like the sword and a beautiful form, to be frightend.
ஓர் வாரணத்தைப் பொடி அணி மேனி மூட உரி கொண்டவன்
flayed an elephant's skin to cover his body smeared with holy ash.
புன் சடையான்
has a ruddy caṭai.
கொடி நெடு ஓங்கும் குடமூக்கு இடமா இடிபடுவானம் வந்த இருந்தான் அவண் குழகன் எம்மிறையே
the youth and Civaṉ who was in Kutamūkku which has tall storeys in which flags are flying, as his place, to the praised by the inhabitants of heaven where thunder is produced, is our master.

{$} கழை வளர் கவ்வை முத்தம் கமழ் காவிரி ஆற்று அயலே
by the side of the river, Kāviri where pearls which are got in abundance, and make a roaring noise spread.
தழைவளர் மாவின் நல்ல பலவின்கனிகள் தங்கும் குழைவளர் சோலை சூழ்ந்த குடமூக்கு இடமா
Kuṭamūkku which is surrrounded by gardens where tender are sprouting and fruits of the mango trees which grow fertile and jack fruits could be found, as his place.
இழைவளர் மங்கையோடும் இருந்தான் அவன் குழகன் எம் இறையே
our master is the youth who dwelt with a young lady wearing many ornaments.

{$} மலைமலி மங்கை பாகம் மகிழ்ந்தான்
Civaṉ rejoiced to have as his half the daughter of the mountain.
எழில் வையம் உய்யச் சிலைமலி வெங்கணையால் சிதைத்தான்புரம் மூன்றினையும்
destroyed the three cities with a cruel arrow which is fixed to the bow, to save the people of this world.
[[வையம் உய்ய can also be linked with மகிழ்ந்தான் then the idea will be like this, as Civaṉ rejoiced to have Umai, the house-hold duites were saved from destruction;
பெண்பால் உகந்திவனேல் பேதாய் இரு நிலத்தோர், விண்பால் யோகு எய்தி வீடுவர்கான் சாழலோ (tiruvācakam, tiruccāḻal. 9)]]
குலை மலி தண் பலவின் பழம் வீழ் குடமூக்கு இடமா, இலைமலி சூலம் ஏந்தி இருந்தான் அவன் எம் மிறையே
Civaṉ who holds a trident of three blades has as his place Kuṭamūkku where the fruits of the jack tree full of clusters fell to the ground fully ripe.

{$} நெடு முடி பத்து உடைய நிகழ்வாள் அரக்கன் உடலைப்படும் இடர்கண்டு அயரப்பருமால்வரைக்கீழ் அடர்த்தான்
Civaṉ pressed down the body of the cruel arakkaṉ (Irāvaṇaṉ) who had ten high crowns, under the big an d great mountain (of Kayilai) to make him suffer undergoing distress.
கொடு மடல் தங்கு தெங்கு பழம்வீழ் குடமூக்கு இடமா, இடு மணல் எக்கர் சூழ இருந்தான் அவன் எம் இறையே
one who dwelt as his place in Kuṭamūkku where the coconut trees having curved leaves drop their mature fruits, and which is surrounded by the mound of sand deposited by the Kāviri; is our master.

{$} ஆர் எரி ஆழியானும் அலரானும் அளப்பு அரிய நல்ல கூர் எரி ஆகி நீண்ட குழகன்
the youth who rose high as a great column of fire which could not be measured by both Māl who has a burning discus with many sharp points, and Piramaṉ seated in a (lotus) flower.
நீர் இரி புன்சடைமேல் நிரம்பா மதி சூடி
having worn on the ruddy caṭai water which overflows, a crescent which has not grown to its full seize.
குடமூக்கு இடமா ஈர் 1. உரி கோவணத் தோடு இருந்தான் அவன் எம் இறையே
Civaṉ who had a loin cloth of flayed skin and has as his place Kuṭamūkku, is our master.

{$} மூடிய சீவரத்தார் மோட்டு அமணர் முது மட்டையர்
the buddhists who covers their bodies with a cloth by name, Civaram, and obstinate amaṇar are very stupid people (மோட்டு may also mean paunch)
நாடிய தேவர் எல்லாம் நயந்து ஏத்திய நல் நலத்தான்
Civaṉ who has good qualities which are praised with desire by the tevar who were searching for him.
கூடிய குன்றம் எல்லாம் உடையான்
he has possession of all the hills that are available.
குடமூக்கு இடமா ஏடு அலர் கொன்றை சூடி இருந்தான் அவன் எம் இறையே
adorning himself with koṉṟai of unfolded petals, Civaṉ who has in Kuṭamūkku as his place, is our master.

{$} வெண்கொடி மாடம் ஓங்கு விறல் வெங்குரு நன்னகரான்
one who is a native of the good city of veṅkuru which is preeminent, and which has high storeys in which white flags are flying.
நண்பொடு நின்ற சீரான்
who has greatness in addition to friendship with all people.
தமிழ் ஞானசம்பந்தன்
ñāṉacampantaṉ well-versed in tamiḻ.
நல்ல தண் குடமூக்கு அமர்ந்தான் அடிசேர் தமிழ் பத்தும் வல்லார்
those who are able to recite all the ten verses which were laid at the feet of Civaṉ who dwelt in good and cool Kuṭamūkku
விண்புடை மேல் உலகம், வியப்ப; வீடு எளிது
will reach the upper world which is above, and to the wonder of all, attainment of liberation is easy for them.
