excellent persons.
வீடுஅலால்
without any thought except attaining salvation.
அவாய் இல் ஆய்
and without desiring any other thing
நின்கழல் பாடல் வாயிலாய் ஆல
to celebrate the fame of your feet through the means of songs.
பரவ நின்ற பண்பனே
God of good nature who is praised by the devotees!
காடு அலால் அவாய் இல்லாய்
your have no desire to dwell anywhere else except in the cremation ground.
நீள்கபாலி கழ(ம்)மதில் கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்
Civaṉ in ālavāy, Kūṭal which has a long wall of fortification by name Kapāli

{$} பட்டு இசைந்த அல்குலாள் பாவையாள் ஓர்(1)பாகமா ஒட்டு இசைந்தது அன்றியும்
in addition to have united in your body a lady as beautiful as a portrait and who wears on her waist a silk dress.
உச்சியாள் (2) ஒருத்தியாக் கொட்டு இசைந்த ஆடலாய்
Civaṉ who dances to the accompaniment of instruments of music measuring time, having another lady on the head!
கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்
one who dwells at the temple by name ālavāy in Kūtal!

you are the faults.
குணங்கள் நீ
you are the good qualities also.
கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்
Civaṉ at the temple, ālavāy, in Kūtal!
சுற்றம் நீ
you are my relations.
பிரானும் நீ
you are my master also.
தொடர்ந்து இலங்கு சோதி நீ
you are the shining light which burns continuously.
கற்றநூல் கருத்தும் நீ
you are the ideas contained in the works studied by me.
அருத்தம் இன்பம் என்பவை முற்றும் நீ
you are entirely what are known as wealth and happiness, objectives worthy of human pursuit.
புகழ்ந்து முன் உரைப்பது என் முக(ம்)மன் (ஏ)
what is the use of praising you to your face? it will be sheer flattering.

{$} முதிரும் நீர்ச் சடைமுடி முதல்வன் நீ
you are the cause of all things who has on the catai coiled into a crown, excellent water.
முழங்கு அழல் அதிர வீசி ஆடுவாய்
you dance swinging the arms to cause the fire to make a sound reverberate.
அழகன் நீ
you are beautiful.
புயங்கன் நீ
you wear cobras as ornaments.
மதுரன் நீ
you are sweet to your devotees.
மணாளன் நீ
you are the bridegroom.
மதுரை ஆலவாயிலாய்
you dwell at the temple ālavāy in maturai.
சதுரன் நீ
you are an able god.
சதுர்முகன்கபாலம் ஏந்து சம்புவே
campu who holds the skull of Piramaṉ of four faces.

{$} கோலம் ஆய நீள் மதில் கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்
Civaṉ who dwells at the temple, ālavāy in Kūṭal, which has long and beautiful walls of fortification!
பண்டும் இன்றும் உன்னையே பாலன் ஆய தொண்டுசெய்து
doing worship to you in the past and in the present like the boy, cantēca nāyanār.
நீலம் ஆய கண்டனே
god who has a blue neck!
நின்னை அன்றி
except you.
சீலம் ஆய சிந்தையில் தேவரே தேர்வது இல்லை
I do not seek any other god in my disciplined mind.

{$} பொன் தயங்கு இலங்கு ஒளி (ந்)நலம் குளிர்ந்த புன்சடை பின்தயங்க ஆடுவாய்
you dance to make the ruddy cool and bright coloured caṭai shining like gold move to and fro at the back.
பிஞ்ஞகா
god who adorns his head with the feather of the peacock! (god who performs the function of destruction)
பிறப்புஇலீ
god who does not know birth!
கொன்றை அம் முடியினாய்
Civaṉ who wears on his head flowers of koṉṟai!
கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்
Civaṉ at ālavāy in Kāṭal!

it is my regular duty of fixing my thoughts only on your dance which you perform swinging the arms.

{$} ஆதி அந்தம் ஆயினாய்
you are the beginning and the end of all things.
ஆலவாயில் அண்ணலே
the chief in ālavāy!
சோதி அந்தம் ஆயினாய்
you are the end of all lights.
சோதியுள் ஓர் சோதியாய்
you are the effulgence within the lights.
கீதம் வந்தவாய்மையால் கிளர்தருக்கினார்க்கு அல்லால்
except for those who have been initiated into spiritual wisdom by a preceptor and who have that eminent ability on account of that.
ஓதி வந்த வாய்மையால் உணர்ந்து உரைக்கல் ஆகுமே
is it possible for others to realise you and speak about you having acquired worldly knowledge by studying works?

{$} கறை இலங்கு கண்டனே
Civaṉ in whose neck the poison is shining!
கருத்துஇலாக், கருங்கடல் துறை இலங்கைமன்னனைத் தோள் அடர ஊன்றினாய்
you fixed your toe to press down the shoulders of the King of ilaṅkai which is surrounded by the black sea having ghats, and who had no discrimination.
மறை இலங்கு பாடலாய்
you chanted the vetams which are eminent!
மதுரை ஆலவாயிலாய்
god who is at the temple by name ālavāy in maturai.
நிறை இலங்கு நெஞ்சினால் நினைப்பதே நியமம் (ஏ)
It is our regular duty to contemplate on him with perfect mind.

{$} தா வண(வ்)விடையினாய்! தலைமையாக நாள்தொறும்
Oh God, who is riding on a bull with swift gaint daily with leadership.
கோவண(வ்) உடையினாய்! கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்!
Oh God, having a men's loin cloth as dress. Oh God, who is residing in the temple ālavāy of the town Kūṭal.
தீவண(ம்) மலர்மிசைத் திசைமுகனும் மாலும் நின் தூவணம் அளக்கிலார் துளக்கம் எய்துவார்கள் (ஏ)
Piramaṉ of four faces who is seated in a red lotus which has the colour of fire, and Māl were seized with dread as they could not measure your pure nature.

{$} தேற்றம் இல் வினைத்தொழில் தேரரும் சமணரும் (1) போற்று இசைத்து நின்கழல் புகழ்ந்து புண்ணியம் கொளார்
the tērar (buddhists) and camanar who commit acts which are without clearness of mind do not sing your praises and by singing the fame of your feet do not obtain virtue.
கூற்று உதைத்த தாளினாய்!
Civaṉ, who kicked the god of death with your left foot!
கூடல் ஆலவாயிலாய்

நால்திசைக்கும் மூர்த்திஆகி நின்றது என்ன நன்மை (ஏ)
what a great good it is that you remained assuming visible forms for the benefit of the world!

{$} போய நீர் வளம் கொளும் பொருபுனல் புகலியான்
the native of pukali where the fields into which water flows and dashes against the ridges, receive fertility.
பாயகேள்வி ஞானசம்பந்தன் நல்ல பண்பினால் ஆய சொல்லின் மாலைகொண்டு
with the help of the garlands of words composed by the good nature of ñāṉacampantaṉ who has extensive knowledge by listening to words of wisdom.
ஆலவாயில் அண்ணலைத் தீய தீர் எண்ணுவார்கள் (1) சிந்தை ஆவர் தேவர்(ஏ)
those who meditate upon the god in ālavāy to remove evils and who retain these in their minds, will become celestials.
