{$} காதல் ஆகி
with love
கசிந்து
growing tender hearted.
கண்ணீர் மல்கி
with profuse tears rolling down the cheeks.
ஓதுவார்தமை நன்னெறிக்கு உய்ப்பது
will direct those who recite the mantiram in the path to salvation.
வேதம் நான்கினும் மெய்ப்பொருள் ஆவது
is the essential truth dealt with in the four Vētam-s.
நாதன் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namacCivaya which is the name of the master, Civaṉ.
{3:49}__2+
{$} (1) நம்புவார் அவர்
those who cherish with love.
நாவின் நவிற்றிசெல்
if they recite without ceasing in their tongues.
வம்பு நாள் மலர் வார்மது ஒப்பது
is sweet like the honey that pours from the fragrant flowers that unfolds its petals at day break.
உலகுக்கு எலாம் செம்பொன் திலகம்
is like the small circular mark on the forehead of the whole word.
நம்பன் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namacCiva, is the name of Civaṉ

{$} நெக்கு உள் ஆர்வம் மிகப்பெருகிந் நினைந்து
the heart having melted the love in the mind increasing and thinking of the mantiram.
அக்குமாலை கொடு அங்கையில் எண்ணுவார்
those who repeat reciting having in their beautiful hands a garland of uruttirukkam.
தக்க வானவராத்தகுவிப்பது
makes them qualified to become fitting celestials though they are not qualified to become so otherwise.
நக்கன் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namaccivāya is the name of Civaṉ who is naked.

{$} நியமம் தான் நினைவார்க்கு இனியான்
god who dispenses good things to those who meditate the mantiram as a daily routine
நெற்றிநயனன் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namaccivāya, the name of Civaṉ who has a frontal eye.
இயமன் தூதரும் அஞ்சுவர், இன்சொலால் நயம் வந்து ஓதவல்லார்தமை நண்ணினால்
if people who do not recite the mantiram befriend with sweet words those great people who recite that, even the messengers of the god of death will be afraid to go near them.

{$} கொல்வாரேனும்
though people kill living beings.
குணம் பல நன்மைகள் இல்லாரேனும்
and though they have no good character and many good conduct.
நல்லான் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
the name Namaccivāya of the god, who dispenses ausipicious things.
இயம்புவராயிடின்
if they recite the mantiram.
எல்லாத்தீங்கையும் நீங்குவர் என்பர் ஆல்
will be free from all the evils.

{$} மந்தரம்(ம்) அன பாவங்கள் மேவிய பந்தனையவர் தாமும்
if those people also who are bound by bondage which are the result of sins and which are great as the mountain mantaram.
நந்தி நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே பகர்வரேல்
if they recite the namaccivāya, the name of Nanti Civaṉ
வல்வினைசிந்தும்
that mantiram will destroy the irresistible acts.
செல்வமும் மல்கும் (ஆல்)
wealth will also increase.

{$} நரகம் ஏழ்புகநாடினராயினும்
though people have committed sins to be cast into all the seven hells.
நாதன் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namaccivāya the name of the lorn destowar, Civaṉ
உரை செய்வாயினர் ஆயினன்
if they recite with their mouth.
உருத்திரர் (1) விரவியே புகுவித்திடும் என்பர் (ஆல்)
people of spiritual wisdom say that the mantiram will cause them to mix with the host of Uruttirar.

{$} நலம் கொள் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namaccivāya the name which has many good things.
இலங்கை மன்னன் எடுத்த அடுக்கல் மேல் தலம் கொள் கால்விரல் சங்கரன் ஊன்றலும்
when the dispenser of auspicious things who had mountain Kayilai which was lifted by the king of Ilankai, as his shrine, fixed his toe on it.
மலங்கி வாய்மொழி செய்தவன் உய்வகை (அருளியது)
granted the manner of saving him from death, who sang the Vētam, the eternal truth, being confounded

{$} போதன் போது அன கண்ணனும் அண்ணல் தன் பாதம் (தான்) முடிநேடிய பண்பராய்
Piramaṉ who is in a (lotus) flower and Māl who has eyes like the lotus, making efforts to search and find out the feet and head of the chief.
யாதும் காண்பு அரிதாகி அலந்து அவர் ஓதும் நாமம் நமச்சிவாயவே
namaccivāya is the name of Civaṉ which they chanted being in distress as they could not see anything.

{$} கஞ்சி மண்டையர்
buddhists who drink gruel from a earthern vessel resembling in shape the skull.
கையில் உண்கையர்கள்
and camaṇar who eat their food keeping it in their hands.
வெஞ்சொல் மிண்டர் விஞ்சை அண்டர்கள் வேண்ட அமுது செய்(1) நஞ்சு உள் உண்டன் நமச்சிவாயவே விரவு இலர் என்பர் (ஆல்)
wise people say that those strong people who speak cruel words are not friendly towards namaccivāya of Civaṉ who has within his neck poison, which he consumed at the request of tēvar endowed with intelligence.

{$} நந்தி நாமம் நமச்சிவாய எனும் சந்தையால் தமிழ் ஞானசம்பந்தன் சொல்
the words of Ñāṉacampantaṉ having knowledge of Tamiḻ having the refrain of namaccivāya the name of Nanti.
சிந்தையால் மகிழ்ந்து ஏத்த வல்லார் எலாம் பந்த பாசம் அறுக்க வல்லார்களே
all those who are able to praise Civaṉ with joy in their minds will cut at the root of attachments which bind them.
