{$} நனவிலும் கனவிலும் நாளும் தன் ஒளி நினைவிலும் எனக்கு வந்து எய்தும் நின் மலன்
the immaculate Civaṉ who is the cause for his light of spiritual wisdom to appear in my thoughts daily when I am awake and asleep.
கனை கடல் வையகம் தொழுகருக்குடி அனல் எரி ஆடும் எம் அடிகள் காண்மினே
you know that he is the god who dances in the burning fire and who is in Karukkuṭi which is worshipped by the people of this world girt by the roaring ocean.

Civaṉ chants the Vētam-s

விடை உடை விமலன்
the spotless god who has a bull.
ஒன்னலர் மூது எயில் எரி எழமுனிந்த முக்கணன்
the three-eyed god who by his anger set fire to the old forts of the enemies.
காது இயல் குழையினன் கருக்குடி அமர் ஆதியை அடிதொழ அல்லல் இல்லையே
there will be no sufferings if one worships the feet of Civaṉ being the first cause who dwells a Karukkuṭi and who has a men's ear-ring in his ear.

{$} மஞ்சு உறு பொழில் வளம் மலி கருக்குடி நஞ்சு உறு திருமிடறு உடைய நாதனார்
the master who has a neck in which there is poison and who is in Karukkuti where fertility is abundant on account of gardens on which clouds stay.
அம் சுரும்பு ஆர் குழல் அரிவை அஞ்சவே வெஞ்சுரம் தனில் விளையாடல் என் (கொல், ஓ)
what is the reason for playing in the hot forest to make the lady with tresses of hair on which bees have settled?
[[சுரம் here means the worlds destroyed by Civaṉ and burnt reducing them to ashes, which are very hot.]]

{$} ஊன் உடைப் பிறவியை அறுக்க உன்னுவீர்
People who think of completely rooting out births when you have to be born again.
கானிடை ஆடலான் பயில் கருக்குடிக் கோன் உயர் கோயிலை வணங்கி
paying obeisance to the eminent temple of the King in Karukkuti and where Civaṉ who dances in the cremation ground, is staying always.
வைகலும் வானவர் தொழுகழல் வாழ்த்தி வாழ்மின்
Live long by praising the feet which is worshipped by the celestials, daily.

{$} சடையிடைக்கங்கை சூடுவர்
Civaṉ wears on his catai Kaṅkai
நங்கையைக் கூடுவர்
is united with a lady of distinction.
உலகிடை ஐயம் கொண்டு ஒலி பாடுவர் இசை
will sing music with sweet sound receiving alms in the world.
பறைகொட்ட நட்டிருள் ஆடுவர்
will dance in the midnight when drums are beaten
[[நட்டிருள்: நடு + இருள்;
this is like நட்டாறு which means the middle of the river.]]
கருக்குடி அண்ணல் வண்ணமே
these are the nature of the chief in Karukkuṭi.

{$} இன்பு உடையார் இசை வீணை
Civaṉ feels pleasure in playing upon viṇai to enjoy its music.
பூண் அரா என்பு உடையார்
has as ornaments cobras and bones
எழில் மேனிமேல் எரி முன்பு உடையார்
has fire on his beautiful body since a long time.
முதல் ஏத்தும் அன்பருக்கு அன்பு உடையார் கருக்குடி எம் அண்ணல்
our god, Civaṉ, in Karukkuṭi reciprocates love towards those who love him and praise him as the cause of all things.

{$} காலமும் ஞாயிறும் தீயும் ஆயவர்
Civaṉ is time, sun and fire.
கோலமும் முடி அரவு அணிந்த கொள்கையர்
has the nature of adorning his head with a cobra to add beauty to it.
சீலமும் உடையவர்
possesses also the great quality of easy accessibility.
(1) திருக்கருக்குடிச்சாலவும் இனிது அவருடைய தன்மையே
the nature of Civaṉ who is in Karukkuṭi is very much pleasing

{$} எறி கடல் புடை தழுவு இலங்கை மன்னனை முறிபட வரையிடை அடர்த்த மூர்த்தியார்
Civaṉ who crushed the King of ilaṅkai surrounded by ocean which dashes against the shore to make his body break under the mountain.
கறை படு பொழில் மதிதவழ் கருக்குடி அறிவொடு தொழுமவர் ஆள்வர் நன்மையே
those who worship Karukkuṭi in whose dark gardens the moon seems to crawl, with knowledge of him will possess all good things.

{$} பூமனும் திசை முகன் தானும், பொற்பு அமர் வாமனன் (உம்) அறிகிலா வண்ணம் ஓங்கு எரி ஆம் என உயர்ந்தவன்
Civaṉ who grew high as a rising fire so that Piramaṉ who is seated in a flower and has four faces, and the dwarf who has beauty, had not the capability to know him.
[[பொற்பு அமர் வாமனன் the underlined word is used ironically;]]

அணி கருக்குடி நாம் மனனினில் வரநினைதல் நன்மையே
it is certainly good for us to remember the beautiful Karukkuṭi to stay in our minds.

{$} சாக்கியர் சமண் படுகையர் பொய்ம் மொழி ஆக்கிய உரை கொளேல்
Do not accept as truth the fabricated lies of the buddhists and low people of camaṇar.
அருந்திரு(ந்) நமக்கு ஆக்கிய அரன் உறை அணி கருக்குடிப் பூக்கமழ் கோயிலே புடைபட்டு உய்ம்மின்
(People of this world!) save yourselves by being near the temple where flowers spread their fragrance and where araṉ who created for us the wealth of caivism which is rare to obtain.

{$} கானலில் விரை மலர் விம்மு காழியான்
the native of Kāḻi where in the sea-shore gardens fragrant flowers are in abundance.
வானவன் கருக்குடி மைந்தன் தன் ஒளி ஆன மெய்ஞ்ஞான சம்பந்தன் சொல்லிய ஊனம் இல் மொழிவலார்க்கு
for those who are able to recite the words which are without defects and composed by Campantaṉ of true spiritual wisdom which is the light of the strong god in Karukkuṭi.
இன்பம் உயரும்
happiness will increase.
