holding in the hand a fire which is burning.
எல்லியில் நரிதிரி கானிடை நட்டம் ஆடுவர்
Civaṉ will dance in the cremation-ground where foxes roam about at night.
அரிசில் அம்பொருபுனல் அம்பர் மாநகர்க்குரிசில் செங்கண்ணவன் கோயில் சேர்வர்
exists in the temple built by the illustrious chief Cenkaṇṇavaṉ in the great city of Ampar where the water of river Aricil dashes against the banks.

Having as a half the daughter of the mountain who has coated her eyes with eye-salve.
இருள் கையது ஓர் கனல் எரி கனல ஆடுவர்
Civaṉ will dance in the night, the burning fire in the hand to spread flames.
ஐய நன் பொருபுனல் அம்பர்ச் செம்பியர் செய்யகண் இறை செய்த கோயில்சேர்வர்
exists in the temple built by the Cōḻaṉ Ceṅkaṇāṉ in Ampar which has beautiful water that erodes the banks.

{$} மறை புனை பாடலர்
Civaṉ sings the vetams with music
சுடர் கை மல்க ஓர் பிறையுனை சடைமுடிபெயர ஆடுவர்
will dance for the caṭai coiled into a crown which is adorned with a crescent to move, and the fire in the hand to increase in heat.
அறை புனல் நிறைவயல் அம்பர் மாநகர் இறையுனை எழில்வளர் இடம் (அது) என்பர்
people say that the great city of ampar which has fields full of water making a sound, is the place of Civaṉ, built by cōḻaṉ ceṅkaṇāṉ, which increases in artificial beauty.

{$} இரவு மல்கு இளமதி சூடி
wearing on the head a crescent which increases in brightness at night.
ஈடு உயர் பரவ மல்கு அருமறை பாடி ஆடுவர்
Civaṉ will dance singing the abstruse vētam which always increases in merit in praising his greatness, and has no equal or superior to them.
அரவமோடு உயர் 1. செம்மல் அம்பர்க் கொம்பு அலர் மரவம் மல்கு எழில் நகர் மருவி வாழ்வரே
will dwell being accustomed, in the eminent ampar which is great by its bustle and beautiful gardens where the common cadamba has flowers in its branches.

{$} சங்கு அணி குழையினர்
Civaṉ wears a men's ear-ring made of conch.
சாமம் பாடுவர்
will chant the cāmavētam with music.
வெங்கனல் கனல் தர வீசி ஆடுவர்
will dance swinging the shoulders, the hot fire to spread its flames.
அங்கு அணி விழவு அமர் அம்பர் மாநகர்ச் செங்கண் நல் இறைசெய்த கோயில் சேர்வர்
Civaṉ will reside in the temple built by King ceṅkaṇāṉ in the great city of ampar where beautiful festivals are celebrated.

{$} கழல் வளர் காலினர்
Civaṉ wears on his leg Kaḻal, an ornament denoting valour.
சுடர் கை மல்க ஓர் சுழல் வளர் குளிர் புனல் சூடி ஆடுவர்
will dance wearing on his head a cool water in which eddies are increasing, and the fire in the hand to increase in heat.
அழல்வளர் மறையவர் அம்பர்ப் பைம் பொழில் நிழல் வளர் நெடு நகர் இடம் அது என்பபர்
people say that the long city of ampar where brahmins who maintain the sacrifical fires live, and has verdant gardens of cool shade, is his place.

{$} இகல் உறு சுடர் எரி இலங்க வீசியே
Civaṉ swinging the arms to make the bright fire of great strength to shine better.
பகல் இடம் பலி கொளப் பாடி ஆடுவர்
will dance singing to receive alms in the daytime.
அகல் இடம் மலி புகழ் அம்பர் வம்பு அவிழ் புகலிடம் நெடுநகர் புகுவர் (போலும்)
will enter into the long city of ampar where fragrance spreads and which has fame which has spread throughout the world, as his dwelling.

{$} எரி அன மணி முடி இலங்கைக்கோன் தன, கரியன தடக்கைகள் அடர்த்தனகாலினர்
Civaṉ crushed with his leg the big and black arms of the King of Ilaṅkai who wore a crown set with precious stones shining like fire.

அரியவர் வள நகர் அம்பர் இன்பொடு புரியவர் பிரிவிலர் பூதம் சூழவே
enters with pleasure into the fertile city of ampar where poeple of rare qualities dwell, to be surrounded by the pūtam-s which never leave him.

{$} வெறிகிளர் மலர் மிசையவனும்
Piramaṉ who is on a fragrant (lotus) flower.
வெந்தொழில் பொறிகிளர் அரவணைப் புல்கு செல்வனும்
and Māl who is sleeping in the bed of a serpent which is cruel by its nature and has spots on its hood.
அறிகில அரியவர்
Civaṉ who was difficult to be seen (by them)
அம்பர்ச் செம்பியர் செறிகழல் இறைசெய்த கோயில் சேர்வர்
dwells in ampar built by the chief among Cempiyar who wears tight-fitting kaḻal.

{$} வழிகலை பறி தலையவர்கள் கட்டிய மொழி தலைப்பயன் என மொழியல்
(People of this world!) Do not say the talk of the buddhist who completetly shave their heads and amaṇar who remove their hair by plucking, as fruitful.
அழிதலைப் பெரும்புனல் அம்பர் மாநகர், உழிதலை ஒழிந்து ஊர் உமையும் தாமுமே
Civaṉ and Umai stay permanently in the great city of ampar, without wandering here and there, which has floods that erodes its banks.

{$} அழகரை, அடிகளை, அம்பர் மேவிய நிழல் திகழ் சடைமுடி நீலகண்டரை
upon the beautiful, Civaṉ, the god, the one with a blue neck who has a bright caṭai coiled into a crown.
உமிழ் திரை உலகினில் ஓதுவீர் கொண்மின், தமிழ் கெழு விரகினன் தமிழ் செய் மாலையே
those who recite verses, in the world surrounded by ocean of surging waves! you receive the garland of tamiḻ verses composed by an expert in tamiḻ (ñāṉacampataṉ)
