God who is the meaning of the division of iyal, icai (and nāṭakam) the three divisions of Tamiḻ
புயல் அன மிடறுடைப் புண்ணியனே
God who has a neck as black as the cloud

is pukali which has fragrant parks.
நிலன் நாள்தொறும் இன்புற் நிறை மதி அருளினனே

you who flayed the strong skin of the elephant having must which came to kill you, to frighten the daughter who was born in the mountain
இமையோர்கள் நின் தாள் தொழ எழில் திகழ் பொழிற்புகலி உமையாளொடும் மன்னினை
you resided permanently with umayal in pukali which has parks of shining beauty, for the tēvar to worship your feet.
யாம் உயர் திருவடி இணை நிலையுறும் இடர் நிலையாத வண்ணம் இலை உறு மலர்கள் கொண்டு ஏத்தும்
we will worship your eminent by our own efforts which appear to be permanent! may be only transitory

{$} வரல் முறையால் அருமறை பாடினை
you sang the difficult vētam acccording to tradition.
முன் அருவனத்தில் கரணம் ஆடினை
in the part you danced in the difficult forest to be witnessed (by the wives of the sages in tārukāvanam; you danced in the cremation ground to be witnessed by Umai is another meaning)
காலனைக் சாடினை
you killed the god of death
தயங்கு ஒளி சேர் நீடுவெண்பிறைமுடி நின் மலனே
Immaculate god who has on his head a white crescent that increases in size and which has brilliant light.
நினையே அடியார் தொழ நெடு மதில் புகலிந் நகர் தனையே இடம் மேவினை
you desired as your place the city of pukali itself which has a high wall of enclosure, for your devotees to worship you only.
எமக்குத் தவ நெறி அருள்
grant us the way to do penance.

{$} நிழல் திகழ் மழுவினை
you have a shining battle axe
யானையின் தோல் அழல் திகழ் மேனியில் அணிந்தவனே
you adornedas an upper cloth, the skin of an elephant, on your form which is as as bright as fire.
கழல் (ஒலி) திகழ் சிலம்பு ஒலி அலம்ப நல்ல முழவொடும் அருநடம் முயற்றினனே
you performed a rare dance to the accompaniment of flawless muḻavu when the sound of Kaḻal and the sound of cilampu made a big sound.

you resided with beauty in pukali having fragrant parks to be worshipped by the devotees.

{$} கருமையின் ஒளிர்கடல் நஞ்சம் உண்ட உரிமையின் உலகு உயிர் அளித்த நின்றன் பெருமையை நிலத்தவர் பேசின் அல்லால்
Except that the people of this world can speak only about your greatness in having saved the world and its inhabitants by the right of your having swallowed the poison shining with black colour, which rose in the ocean.
அருமையில் அளப்பு அரிது ஆயவனே
you cannot be measured by any amout of difficult research.
அரவு ஏர் இடையாளொடும் அலைகடல் மலிப் புகலிப் பொருள் சேர்தர நாள்தொறும் புவிமிசைப் பொலிந்தவனே
you were shining with brilliance daily in this world in pukali which abounds in the wealth got from the sea, along with a lady whose waist is as slender as a serpent for the four obsectives of human pursuit to gather there (serpent is also compared to the waist of ladies;

{$} அடை அரி மாவொடு வேங்கையின் தோல் புடை பட அரைமிசைப் புனைந்தவனே
you who adorned your waist on its sides with a tiger's skin in addition to the skin of the lion which approached you to kill.
படையுடை நெடுமதில் பரிசு அழித்த விடையுடைக் கொடி மல்கு வேதியனே
oh vētiyaṉ on whose banner the bull is thriving and who destroyed the nature of the three high walls of enclosure which has weapons wax.

you who are wholly different from the world! supreme Lord!
நின்னை விண்ணவர் தொழப் புகலித் தகுவாய், மடமாதொடும் தாள் பணிந்தவர் தமக்கே
you are fit to give audience only to people who bow to your feet and reside along with the young lady in pukali where the tēvar in heaven worship you.

{$} அடியவர் தொழுது எழ அமரர் ஏத்தச் செடியவல்விளை தீர்ப்பவனே
you remove the irresistible many sins which are as crowded as a thick bush, when the devotees worship you and the immortals praise you.
துடி இடை அகல் அல்குல் தூமொழியைப் பொடி அணி மார்பு உறப் புல்லினனே
you embraced tightly in your chest smeared with ash, a lady speaking good words, having a waist like tuti and broad sides.
புண்ணியா! புனிதா!
the embodiment of all virtuous acts! the pure one!
புகர் ஏற்றினை
you have a bright coloured bull.
புகலிந் நகர் நண்ணினாய்
you are attached to the city of pukali
கழல் ஏத்திட வினை நண்ணகிலா
sins are not capable of adhering to devotees if they worship your feet.

{$} இரவொடு பகல் அது ஆம் எம்மான்
My Lord who is day and night!
வழியடியேன் உன்னைப் பரவுதல் ஒழிகிலேன்
I, who am a hereditary worshipper will never cease from praising you
குரவிரி நறுங்கொன்றை கொண்டு அணிந்த அரவிரி சடைமுடி ஆண் தகையே
Lord of great eminence who has a spreading caṭai on which there are cobras, and which is adorned with blossomed fragrant koṉṟai flowers and Kurāl (bottle-flower)

அதிர்கடல் இலங்கை மன்னை இனமார்தரு தோள் அடர்த்துப் புகலியுளே அ(ன்)னம் மென்னடையாளொடும் இருந்தனை
you resided in pukali with a lady of graceful gait like the swan, having pressed down the group of shoulders of the king of ilankai surrounded by the roaring sea.

{$} உருகிட உவகை தந்து உடலின் உள் (ஆல்) பருகிடும் அமுது அன பண்பினனே
you have the property of the nectar which can be enjoyed within the body bestowing joy to melt the heart (பருகிடும் அமுது nectar which in the liquid form).

பொருகடல் வண்ணனும், பூ உளானும் பெருகிடும் மருள் எனப் பிறங்கு எரியாய் உயர்ந்தாய்
you rose like a cloumn of dazzling fire as high as the pride of the two, Māl who had a blue complexion like the sea which is always at war with the shore, and (Piramaṉ) who is seated in the (lotus) flower, and was at its utmost limit.
மதில் புகலியனே
God residing in pukali surrounded by a wall of enclosure
1. இனி நீ எனை ஒண் மலரடிக்கீழ் வயம் தாங்குற நல்கிடு
Bestow your grace on me to grant my desire to remain under your bright lotus feet, hereafter.

People of evil mind whose penance is not sincere penance
பெய்யவர் உரைகளைப் பொருள் எனாத மெய்யவர் அடி தொழ விரும்பினனே
you desired your feet to be worshipped by the truthful devotees who do not heed as truth the false utterence of those people.
வியந்தாய் வெள்ளேற்றினை
you commanded as a vehicule a white bull.
விண்ணவர் தொழுபுகலி உயர்ந்தார் பெருங்கோயிலுள் ஒருங்குடன் இருந்தவனே
you who resided (with a lady) in the big temple worshipped by eminent people in pukali which is also worshipped by the celestials.

{$} புண்ணியர் தொழுது எழு புகலிந் நகர் விண்ணவர் அடிதொழ விளங்கினானை
on thelord who is renowned in the city of pukali after worshipping whose feet people of virtuous acts rise from sleep and which is also worshipped by the residents of heaven.
நண்ணிய ஞானசம்பந்தன் வாய்மை பண்ணிய அருந்தமிழ் பத்தும் வல்லார்
all the rare ten tamiḻ verses containing truth and composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ who was close to god.
நடலையவை இன்றி
without the sufferings of being born again and again.
போய்ச் சிவனுலகம் நண்ணுவர்
after death they will go and reach the abode of Civaṉ.
இடராயின இன்றித் தாம் தவநெறி எய்துவர்
they will tread the path leading to penance without troubles (in this world).
