when Umai was singing as taḷir iḷa vaḷar and was measuring time with cymbals.
ஓர் (1) கழல் வீசி
swinging one leg.
கிளர் இளமணி அரவு அரை ஆர்த்து ஆடும் வேடக்கிறிமையார்
has the falsehood of a form and dances tying a young cobra which has a bright jewel in its hood.
விளர் இளமுலையவர்க்கு அருள்நல்கி
granting his grace to ladies of young and pale breasts.
வெண்ணீறு அணிந்து
having adorned himself with white sacred ash.

singing songs, tying a cobra, binding on the broad mens loin-cloth.
பலபல கடைதொறும் பலிதேர்வார்
will collect alms in each and every entrance of houses.
சிந்தனைபுகுந்து எனக்கு அருள் நல்கி
granting me his grace having entered into my thoughts.
செஞ்சுடர்வண்ணர்
who has the colour of the sun.
தம் அடி பரவ வந்தனை பல செய இவர் (ஆணீர் வாய்மூர் அடிகள் வருவார் (ஏ)

Civaṉ plays upon a vīṇai which is celebrated for its melody-types.
பதினெண் கணமும் உணரா நஞ்சு உண்ணப்பொலிந்த மிடற்றினார்
has a neck that shines by consuming the poison the cruelty of which all the eighteen celestial hosts could not know.
உள்ளம் உருகில் உடன் ஆவர்
will be with us if our hearts melt.
சுண்ணப்பொடி நீறு அணிமார்பர்/
smears on his chest sacred ash as aromatic powder.
சுடர் பொற் சடைமேல் திகழ்கின்ற வண்ணப்பிறையோடு இவர் (ஆணீர்) வாய் மூர் அடிகள் வருவாரே
this god who is in vaimūr appears before us with a beautiful and shining crescent on the brilliant caṭai which glitters like gold.

{$} எரிகிளர் மதியமொடு எழில் நுதல் மேல்
bearing on the beautiful forehead a crescent that rises like fire.
எறி பொறி அரவினொடு ஆறுமூழ்க விரிகிளர்சடையினர்
has a shining and spreading caṭai into which the river Kaṅkai submerges along with a cobra with spots, which can bite.
விடைஏறி
riding upon a bull.
வெருவவந்து இடர்செய்த விகிர்தனார்
God who is different from the world and who gave trouble, approaching us to make us frightened.
புரிகிளர்பொடி அணிதிரு அகலம் பொன்செய்த (1) வாய்மையர்
Civaṉ is the embodiment of truth whose chest glitters like gold as it is adorned by the shining sacred ash which he desires.
பொன் மிளிரும் வரி அரவு அரைக்கு அசைத்து இவர் (ஆணீர்) வாய்மூர் அடிகள் வருவாரே

the space of the neck to get the colour of the beautiful gem of sapphire
உடல்திமில நஞ்சினை அமரர்கள் அமுதம் என்
consuming the poison which was enraged with a loud noise, when the immortals requested him.
நண்ணிய நறுநுதல் உமைநடுங்க
Umai who was by his side to tremble with fear.
வெஞ்சின மால் களியானையின் தோல் வெருவுறப் போர்த்ததன் நிறமும் (1) அஃதே
having covered himself with the skin of an elephant of cruel anger, frenzy and big size, his colour also appearing black an account of that.

எல்லி அம்போது கொண்டு எரிஏந்த
holding a fire choosing the night.
எழிலொடுதொழில் அவை இசையவல்லார்
is capable of conforming to the act of dances in combination with beauty.
சொல் இயல் அருமறை இசைபாடி
changing with music the abstruse vētams which are current with fame.

wearing a crescent.
தோடுபெய்து
wearing a women's ear-ring.
வல்லியம்தோலுடுத்து
dressing himself in a tiger's skin

{$} கடிபடு கொன்றை நன்மலர் திகழும் கண்ணியர்
Civaṉ wears a chaplet of good and fragrant koṉṟai flowers.
விண்ணவர் கனமணிசேர் முடி(1) பில்கும் இறையவர்
the god on whose feet the crowns of celestials set with heavy precious stones scatter rays of light.
மறுகில் நல்லார் முறைமுறை பலிபெய முறுவல் செய்வார்
smiles when the ladies place alms one after another in the streets.
பொடி அணி வடிவெவாடு திரு அகலம் பொன் என மிளிர்வது ணுர் அரவினொடும்
with a cobra which gleams like gold in the sacred chest and with a form which is smeared with sacred ash.
வடிநுனை மழுவினொடு இவர்(ஆணீர்) வாய்மூர் அடிகள் வருவார் (ஏ)

சுடர் முடியர்

சுண்ணவெண்ணீற்றினர்
smears himself with a fine powder of white sacred ash.

has a brilliant battle-axe.
பாடல் வண்டு இசை முரல் கொன்றை அம்தார் பாம்பொடு நூல்(அவை) பசைந்து இலங்க
the garland of koṉṟai on which the bees hum like music, to shine along with the cobra and sacred thread, being dense.
கோடல்நல் முகிழ் விரல் கூப்பி நல்லார் குறை உறு பலி எதிர் கொணர்ந்து பெய்ய
the ladies, joining the fingers which are like the buds of the white malabar glory lily, in worship, place the alms bringing it in front of Civaṉ, which he is in want.

{$} திங்களொடு அருவரைப் பொழிற்சோலைத்தேன் (அல்அம்) கானல் அம் திருவாய்மூர் அங்கமொடு அருமறை ஒலிபாடல் அழல் நிறவண்ணர்தம் அடி பரவி
praising the feet of Civaṉ who has the colour of fire, who sings the abstruse vetams and ankams in a high pitch, who is in tiruvaimūr which has sea-shore gardens abounding in honey and has parks and gardens which are situated on mountains, on which the moon moves (திங்களொடு=திங்கள் ஓடு: ஓடு is shortened into ஒடு to suit rhyme.)
நாங்கள் தம் வினைகெட மொழியவல்ல ஞானசம்பந்தன் தமிழ்மாலை தங்கிய மனத்தினால் தொழுது எழுவார் தமர் நெறி உலகுக்கு ஒர் தவநெறி(ஏ)
the path followed by the relations of those who worship and wake up from sleep with a mind, in which the garland of tamiḻ composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ whose words are capable of destroying our acts, good and bad, stays is the path for the world for performing penance.
