{$} விருது குன்றம் மாமேருவில், நாண் அரவா, அனல் (1) எரி அமபாப் (2) பொருது மூ எயில் செற்றவன் பற்றி நின்று உறைபதி, எந்நாளும் கருது-நின்ற ஊர்
the place which Civaṉ who destroyed the forts fighting with them, putting to use as the bow the big mountain, mēru, which has the title of being the assembly of the celestials, vācuki as the bow-string and the burning fire as the bow, considers always to be his residence with attachment.
கனைகடல் கடி கமழ் பொழில் அணி மாதோட்டம் (3) கருத நின்ற கேதீச்சரம் கைதொழ
if people worship with joined hands the shrine, Kēticcaran which can be reckoned in mātōṭṭam beautified by gardens whose fragrance spreads even in the roaring sea.
கடுவினை அடையா (ஏ)
evil destiny will not reach them.

{$} பாடல் வீணையர்; பலபல சரிதையர்; எருது உகைத்து அரு நட்டம் ஆடல் பேணுவர்
Civaṉ has a vīṇai on which he plays songs; has very many kinds of conduct, driving a bull, will desire performing rare dances.
அமரர்கள் வேண்ட நஞ்சு உண்டு இருள் கண்டத்தர்
has a neck which became black by consuming the poison at the request of the immortals.
ஈடம் ஆவது இருங்கடற்கரையினில் எழில் திகழ் மாதோட்டம் கேடு இலாத 1. கேதீச்சரம் தொழுது எழக் கெடும் இடர் வினை (தான், ஏ)
sufferings and the acts which are the cause for them will perish if one rises from bed worshipping with joined hands indestructible Kēticcaram in matoṭṭam which is shining with beauty on the shore of the expansive sea and which is the abode of Civaṉ. (ஈடம்-இடம் ; poetic license which consists in lengthening of a short vowel into a long one and vice versa)

{$} பெண் ஒர் பாகத்தர்
Civaṉ has a lady on one half.
பிறை தவழ் சடையினர்
has a caṭai on which the crescent crawls.
அறை கழல் சிலம்பு ஆர்க்கச் சுண்ணம் ஆதரித்து ஆடுவர்; பாடுவர்
will sing and dance desirous of smearing himself with fine powder of sacred ash, producing a big sound of the sounding Kaḻal and anklet.
அகம் தொறும் இடுபிச்சைக்கு உண்ணல் ஆவது ஓர் இச்சையின் உழல்பவர்
wanders in every house desiring the alms given by the inmates, which he eats.
உயர் தரு மாதோட்டத்து அண்ணல் நண்ணு கேதீச்சரம் அடைபவர்க்கு அருவீனை அடையா (ஏ)
the irresistible acts will not go near those who reach Kētaccaram in the eminent mātoṭṭam to which the chief is attached.

Civaṉ smears his body with sacred ash.
புலி அதள் அரையினர்
wears in the waist a tiger`s skin.
விரிதரு கரத்து ஏந்தும் வடிகொள் மூ இலை வேலினர்
holds in his opened hand a trident of three blades, well sharpened.

with an affectionate mind towards Kēticcaran which the god wished for staying in mātoṭṭam on the shore of the sea where waves roll up and down.
முடிகள் சாய்ந்து அடி பேண வல்லார் தம்மேல் மொய்த்து எழும் வினை போம் (ஏ)
the acts which are crowded with those who esteem the feet of the Lord bowing their heads, will leave them.

Being extremely good.
ஞானம் நான்குடையவர் தம் அடைந்தார்க்கு அருள் ஈயவல்லர்
is capable of bestowing his grace on those who get near him, possesing well spiritual wisdom.
மலிகடல் மாதோட்டத்து எல்லை இல் புகழ் எந்தை கேதீச்சரம் இராப்பகல் நினைந்து ஏத்தி
praising and meditating upon Kētticcaran of our father who has limitless fame and who is in mātōṭṭam near the sea which abounds in many valuable things.
அல்லல் ஆசு அறுத்து அரன்அடிஇணை தொழும் அன்பராம் அடியார் (ஏ)
the votaries who cherish with love and worship with joined hands, the feet of araṉ, cutting quickly the sufferings.
பார் மிசை வான் பிறப்பு இறப்பு இலர்
will not be born even in superior births and will not die in this world and heaven.

placing fittingly the beautiful and eminent Kaṅkai on the long caṭai which is like a chest

ஒரு பாகம் மாழை அம் கயற்கண்ணிபால் அருளிய பொருளினர்
has a significance in bestowing a half of his body to Umai, who has beautiful eyes resembling carp.

having imparted religious instruction to four sages in the past.
பல் உலகினில் உயிர் வாழ்க்கை கண்ட நாதனார்
the master who granted the living beings lives to live with their bodies according to the actss done by them in previous births.
கடல் இடம் கைதொழக் காதலித்து உறைகோயில்
the temple where he dwells with love to be worshipped with joined hands by the people of this world.
வண்டு பண் செயும் மாமலர்ப் பொழில் மஞ்ஞை நடம் இடு மாதோட்டம்
in mātoṭṭam where the peacocks dance in the gardens which blossom big flowers in which the bees hum meldoy-types.
தொண்டர் நாள்தொறும் துதிசெய அருள் செய் கேதீச்சரம் (தான், ஏ)
is Kēticcaram where Civaṉ bestows his grace on his devotees when they praise him daily

{$} தென் இலங்கையர் குலபதி மலை நலிந்து எடுத்த வன் முடி திண் தோள் தன் நலம் கெட அடர்த்து
pressing down the chief of the tribe in ilaṅkai in the south who lifted the mountain pining, to make his strong shoulders and head lose their beauty.
அவற்கு அருள் செய்த தலைவனார்
the master who later granted his grace to him.
கடல் வாய் அப்பொன் இலங்கிய முத்து மாமணிக்ளும் பொருந்திய மாதோட்டத்து உன்னி அன்பொடும் அடியவர் இறைஞ்சு கேதீச்சரத்து உள்ளார் (ஏ)
is the god in kēticcaram whom the devotees worship by prostrating and thinking of mātoṭṭam where that famous gold, brilliant precious gems of pearls which are found in the sea, reach the shore.

{$} பூ உளானும் அப்பொருகடல் வண்ணனும் புவி இடந்து எழுந்து ஓடி, மேவி நாடி நுன் அடிஇணை 1. காண்கிலா வித்தகம் என் ஆகும்
what a wonderful ability is yours when Piramaṉ who is in a lotus flower and that Māl who has the colour of the sea which dashes against the shore, both of them persevered running and digging the, earth and flying rising above to search your feet (and head respectively), wishing to find them! (Māl dug the earth; Piramaṉ flew in the sky.)
மாவும் பூகமும் கதலியும் நெருங்கு மாதோட்ட நன்னகர் மன்னி
staying permanently in the good city of big mātoṭṭam where mango-trees, areca palms and plaintain trees grow densely.
தேவி 2. தன்னொடும் திருந்து கேதீச்சரத்து இருந்த எம்பெருமானே
our Lord who is in perfect Kētīccaram along with goddess pārvati!

{$} புத்தராய்ச் சில புனைதுகில் உடையவர்
the buddhists who dress themselves in two cloths (one for the waist and one to cover the body. (சில is used in the sense of two)
புறனுரைச் சமண் ஆதர்
and the ignorant camaṇar who indulge in slander.
ஏத்தர்/ ஆகி நின்று உண்பவர் இயம்பிய ஏழைமை 1. கேளேன்மின்
(People of this world!) Do not listen to the ignorant words spoken by those who eat well, deceiving people
மத்தயானையை மறு கிட உரி செய்து போர்த்தவர்
Civaṉ who covered himself with a skin, flaying a frenzied elephant to become bewildered.
மாதோட்டத்து அத்தர்
the father in mātoṭṭam.
மன்னு பாலாவியின் கரையில் கேதீச்சரம் அடைமி(ன்)னே
which Kēticcaran on the bank of the tank of pālāvi which is permanent (அடைமின்னே : the underlined letter is augmentaion for metre)

in mātoṭṭam where the sound of the sea which captivates the mind like the sound produced by the muracu played on occasion of marriage, on all sides.

the god who has a victorious bull

and the Lord who is in Kēticcaram
அணி காழி நாடுளார்க்கு இறை ஞானசம்பந்தன் சொல் நவின்று எழு பாமாலைப் பாடல் ஆயின பாடுமின்
sing the songs which are garlands of verses which were done by ñāṉacampantaṉ who is the chief of the people around the region of beautiful Kaḻi, practising them daily.
