{$} பொங்கு வெண் மணல் கானல் பொரு கடல் திரை தவழ் முத்தம் கங்குல் ஆர் இருள் போழும் கலி மறைக்காடு அமர்ந்தார் (தாம்)
Civaṉ who dwells in Maṟaikkāṭu of great noise where the pearls that come crawling on the waves in the sea which dash against the shore are lying in the sea-shore garden which has increasing white sand, emitting rays to remove darkness at night.
திங்கள் சூடினரேனும்
though he wears a crescent
திரிபுரம் எரித்தனரேனும்
and though he burnt the three cities
எங்கும்
everywhere
எங்கள் பிரானார்
our master
புகழ் அலது இகழ் பழிஇலர் (ஏ)
has no despicable reproach except fame.

{$} கூன் இளம் பிறை சூடி
wearing a curved crescent.
கொடு வரித்தோல் உடை ஆடை
and wearing as dress the skin of a tiger.
1. ஆனில் அம் களிர் ஐந்தும் ஆடுவர்
will bathe in the conspicuous five products of the cow.
பூண்பதும் அரவம்
wears as ornaments cobras.
கானல் அம் கழி ஒதம் கரையொடு கதிர்மணி ததும்ப
the pearls emitting rays in the shore washed by the waves in the backwater adjoining the sea-shore gardens.
தேன் நலம் கமழ் சோலைத் திருமறைக் காடு அமர்ந்தார் (ஏ)
Civaṉ who dwells in tirumaṟaikkāṭu which has gardens in which the sweet smell of honey spreads.

{$} நுண்ணிதாய் வெளிதாகி நூல் கிடந்து இலங்கு மார்பில் பண்யாழ் என முரலும் 1. பணிமொழி உமை ஒரு பாகன்
Civaṉ has on one half of Umai who has gentle speech which is like the music produced in yāl, with the chest where the sacred thread which is minute and white is shining staying there.
தண்ணிது ஆய வெள் 2. அருவி சலசல நுரை மணி ததும்ப
the pearls that come with the foam producing a sound `calacala' in the white and cool current, becoming full.
கண்ணிதானும் ஒர் பிறையார் கலி மறைக்காடு அமர்ந்தார் (ஏ)
Civaṉ who dwells in maṟaikkāṭu of bustle has a chaplet of a crescent.

{$} ஏழை வெண் குருகு அயலே இளம் பெடை தனது எனக் கருதித் தாழை வெண்மடல் புல்கும் தண் மறைக் காடு அமர்ந்தார் (தாம்)
Civaṉ who dwells in cool maṟaikkāṭu where the ignorant crane embraces who white petal of the fragrant screw-pine mistaking it for the young female sitting by its side.
மாழை அம் கயல் ஒண்கண் மலை மகள் கணவனது அடியின் நீழலே சரணாக நினைபவர் வினை நலிவு இலர் (ஏ)
those who meditate on the feet of the husband of the daughter of the mountain who has beautiful eyes resembling carp, as affording shade as refuge, will not be afflicted by acts good and band.

{$} அரவம் வீக்கிய அரையும் அதிர்கழல் தழுவிய அடியும் பரவ, நாம் செய்த பாவம் பறை தர அருள்பவர் பதிதான்
the residencse of Civaṉ who grants his grace when we praise his waist in which is fastened a cobra and the feet wearing resounding Kaḻal, for our sins we committed to vanish gradually.
மரவம் நீடு உயர் சோலை மழலை வண்டு யாழ் செயும் 1. மறைக்காட்டு இரவும் எல்லியும் பகலும் ஏத்துதல் குணம் எனலாம் (ஏ)
It can be sad to be good to praise him in maṟaikkāṭu during the nights, evenings and daytime, where the young bees which live in the gardens having on the seaside long and tall oasks, hum like the music produced by yāl.
(எல்லி : is that portion of the day between the end of night and sunrise and between sunset and the coming of night).

{$} பல் இல் ஓடு கை ஏந்திப் பாடியும் ஆடியும் பலிதேர் அல்லல் வாழ்க்கையரேனும்
though Civaṉ leads a life of distress collecting alms singing and dancing, holding a skull without teeth.
அழகியது அறிவர் எம் அடிகள்
our god knows what is beautiful to him.
புல்லம் ஏறுவர்
will ride on a bull
பூதம் புடை செல் உழிதர்வர்க்கு இடம் ஆம் மல்கு 1. வெண்திரை ஒதம் மறைக்காடு (அது, தான், ஏ)
maṟaikkāṭu which is has sea on one side which has surging white-crested waves, is the residence of Civaṉ who wanders when the pūtams go around him.

{$} நாகம் (தான்) கயிறு ஆக, நளிர்வரை அதற்கு மத்து ஆகப் பாகம் தேவரோடு அசுரர் படு கடல் அளறு எழக் கடைய வேகம் நஞ்சு எழ
as the poison rose with great speed while using the serpent, vācuki as the cord used for turning a churning staff and the cool mountain mantaram, as the churning staff for that, tevar and acurar churned the ocean of milk, each of them equally dividing into halves for the mire underneath to rise above in the roaring ocean
ஆங்கே வெருவொடும் இரிந்து எங்கும் ஒட
those tevar and acurar ran helter-skelter every where then itself with fright.
ஆகம் தன்னில் வைத்து அமிர்து ஆக்கு வித்தான் மறைக்காடு (ஏ)
maṟaikkāṭu is the place of Civaṉ who placed it on his neck and converted it into nectar.

{$} தக்கன் வேள்வியைத் தகர்த் தோன்
Civaṉ destroyed the sacrifice performed by takkaṉ
தனது ஒரு பெருமையை ஓரான்
does not know his greatness which is unequalled;

அரக்கன் மிக்கு மேற்சென்று மலையை எடுத்தலும்
when Irāvaṇaṉ, the arakkaṉ being very proud of his strength and advancing towards the mountain, Kayilai lifted it.
மலைமகள் நடுங்க
when the daughter of the mountain trembled with fear.
நக்குத் தன் திருவிரலால் ஊன்றலும்
when Civaṉ pressed him with his sacred toe laughing at his foolishness.
நடுநடுத்து
trembling greatly through fear;

பக்க வாயும் விட்டு அலறிடப் பரிந்தவன் மறைக்காடு (ஏ)
maṟaikkāṭu is the place of Civaṉ who took pity on him when he roared loudly with gaping mouths.

{$} விண்ட மாமலரோனும் விளங்கு ஒளி அரவு அணையானும் பண்டும் காண்பு அரிது ஆய பரிசினன் (அவன்) உறைபதி (தான்)
the dwelling place of Civaṉ who has the dignity of not being known long ago and even today by Piramaṉ who is seated in big blossomed lotus flower and Māl who reclines on the serpent-couch which has shining brilliance.
கண்டல் அம் கழி ஓதம் கரையொடு கதிர்மணிததும்ப
when the waves of the back water on whose banks white mangrove trees grow wash on the shore filling it with brilliant pearls.
வண்டு (அல் அல்) கமழ் சோலை மாமறைக்காடு (அது) (தான், ஏ)
is the great maṟaikkāṭu which has fragrant gardens where bees wander from flower to flower for honey

{$} பெரிய ஆகிய குடையும் பீலியும் அவை வெயிற்கரவாக்கரிய மண்டை கை ஏந்திக் கல்லென உழிதரும் கழுக்கள்
the camaṇar who are as strong as the stake for impaling criminals, who are wandering making a big noise, and holding a black earthern vessel and who hold a big umbrella and a bundle of peacock`s feathers to protect them from sun.
அரிய ஆக உண்டு ஓதும் அவர் திறம் ஒழிந்து நம் அடிகள் பெரிய சீர்மறைக்காடே பேணுமின்
cherish with love only the great fame maṟaikkāṭu of our god, leaving the doctrines of those who talk philosophy eating rare food

{$} மை உலாம் பொழில் சூழ்ந்த மாமறைக் காடு அமர்ந்தாரை
on Civaṉ who dwells in the great Maṟaikkāṭu surrounded by gardens on which the clouds move.
கையினால் தொழுது எழுவான்
one who wakes up from sleep with joined hands.
காழியுள் ஞானசம்பந்தன் செய்த (1) செந்தமிழ் பத்தும் சிந்தையுள் (2) சேர்க்கவல்லார்
those who are able to commit to memory the ten verses of refined tamiḻ composed by Ñāṉacampantaṉ of Kāḻi.
போய்
after leaving this world.
பொய் இல் வானவரோடும் புகவலர்
can enter into eternal bliss which knows no destruction.
புகழே கொளவலர்
and are capable of attaining fame only.
