{$} அறையும் பூம் புனலோடும் ஆடு அரவச் சடை தன்மேல் பியுஞ் சூடுவர்

மார்பில் பெண்ணொரு பாகம் அமர்ந்தார்

துன்னிய பூதக் கண்ணத்தர்
has the crowd of putams which are close to him. (கண்ணத்தார் - கணத்தர், கணம் crowd)
வெங்கனல் ஏந்திக் கங்கும் நின்று ஆடுவர்
he will dance standing at night holding a hot fire.
கேடு இல் எண்ணத்தர்
people who have no evil thoughts.
கேள்வி நல் வேள்வி அறாதவர்
who perform ceaselessly sacrifices ordained in the vetam. (கேள்வி vētam cf. Sanskrit cruti)
மால் எரி ஓம்பும் வண்ணத்த அந்தணர் வாழும் கொச்சை வயம் அமர்ந்தார்
dwells happily in Kōccaivayam where good natured brahmins maintain the great fires.

{$} பாலை அன்ன வெண்ணீறு பூசுவர்
God besmears white sacred ash as white as milk.
பல் சடை தாழ மாலை ஆடுவர்
He will dance at night to make the many caṭai to hang low.
மாமறை பாடுதல் மகிழ்வர்
He delights in singing the great vētam.
வேலை மால் கடல் ஓதம் வெண்திரை கரை மிசை விளங்கும் கோலம் மா மணி சிந்தும் கொச்சை வயம் அமர்ந்தார்
dwells happily in Kōccaivayam where the white-created waves that rise in the big ocean protected by the shore, scatters on the shore big and beautiful pearls.

{$} கடி கொள் கூவிளம் மத்தம் கமழ் சடை நெடு முடிக்கு அணிவர்
the god adorns on his fragrant caṭai coiled into a crown, fragrant bael leaves and dhatura flowers.
பொடிகள் பூசிய மார்பில் புனைவர்
he will adorn his chest on which ash is besmeared (shell of the tortoise, bones, and hog's tusk)
நல் மங்கை ஓர் பங்கர்
Has on one half a beautiful lady
கொடிகள் ஓங்கிய மாடக் கொச்சை வயம் அமர்ந்தார்
he dwells happily in Koccaivayam which has storeys where flags are flying high
கடி கொள் நீடு ஒலி சங்கின் ஒலியோடு கலை ஒலி துதைந்து
where the bustle at the time of marriages, the sound of the conch, the sound of the people who learn vetam and other arts combine together.

the god has a big crescent which is quivering.
பாரிடம் ஆயின சூழ

வாடல் வெண் தலை ஏந்தி
holding a dried white skull
வையகம் இடுபலிக்கு உழவார்
he wanders to receive alms given by the people of this world.
கூடு தண் பொழில் சூழ்ந்த கொச்சை வயம் அமர்ந்தார்
dwells happily in Koccaivayam surrounded by cool parks
ஆடல் மா மட மஞ்ஞை அணி திகழ் பேடையொடு ஆடி
where the great young male peacock having danced with its beautiful female one, mates.

சந்தம் ஆர்ந்து அழகு ஆய தண் தமிழ் மாலை வல்லார்
those who are able to recite the cool, tamiḻ garland of beautiful verses which are full of rhytmic movement.
போய் - முந்தி வானவதோடும் வினைகெட முனை புகவலர்
ascending into heaven after life in this world, will enter first along with the celestials as their actions are destroyed.
