பவனமாய்
the breath being hard.
சோடையாய்
the mouth becoming dry being porched.
நா எழா
the tongue being unable to function.
பஞ்சு தோய்ச்சு அட்டஉண்டு
feeding on the milk which is poured drop by drop soaking the cotton in milk and squeezing it by the fingers (தோய்ச்சு-தோய்த்து)
சிவனதாள் சிந்தியாப் பேதைமார்போல நீ வெள்கினாயே
you falt ashamed like those ignorant persons who did not fix their thoughts on the feet of Civaṉ.
கவனமாய்ப் பாய்வதோர் ஏறு உகந்து ஏறிய காளகண்டன் அவனது ஆரூர்தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping ārūr belonging to Civaṉ of black neck who rides with pleasure on a bull which gallops by placing the front legs simultaneously.
மையல்கொண்டு அஞ்சல்
Do not fear from mental delusion.

father passed away.
தாயாரும் போயினார்
the mother also passed away

the remaining issue will also pass away.
கொந்தவேல் கொண்டு ஒரு கூற்றத்தார் பார்க்கின்றார்
the god of death is on the look-out with a vēl to pierce us.

எந்தநாள் வாழ்வதற்கே மனம் வைத்தி
which day do you think you can live?
அம்தண் ஆரூர் தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands the beautiful and cool ārūr.
நெஞ்சே! மையல் கொண்டு அஞ்சல்
my mind! do not fear from mental delusion.

நிணம் குடர் தோல் நரம்பு என்புசேர் ஆக்கைதான் நிலாயது அன்று (ஆல்)
the body compacted together with fat, intestines, skin, nerves, and bones will not be permanent.
குணங்களார்க்கு அல்லது குற்றம் நீங்காது எனக் குலுங்கினாய்
you trembled with fear that the faults will not leave people other than those who possess good qualities.
வணங்குவார் வானவர் தானவர்வைகலும் (1) மனம்கொடு ஏத்தும் அணங்கன் ஆரூர் தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr of Civaṉ to whom celestials and acurar pay obeisance and praise daily with intention.

my mind!
நீதியால் வாழ்கிலை
you do not lead a life following moral principles.
நாள் செலாநின்றன
the days are fleecting.
நித்தம் நோய்கள் வாதியா நின்றன
daily the diseases were tormenting you.
ஆதலால்
therefore.
நாளும் நாள் (உம்) இன்பமே மருவினாயே
daily you were enjoying pleasures.
சாதி ஆர் கின்னரர் தருமனும் வருணனும் ஏத்தும் முக்கண் ஆதி ஆரூர் தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr of the primordial Civaṉ who has three eyes and who is praised by the Kiṉṉarar of noble birth, tarumaṉ and varuṇaṉ.

my mind!
பிறவியால் வருவன கேடு உள ஆதலால்
as there are very many ruins that come as a result of being born in this world.
பெரிய இன்பத் துறவியார்க்கு அல்லது துன்பம் நீங்காது எனத் தூங்கினாயே
you are sluggish thinking that the suffering will not come to an end except for those ascetics who enjoy great happiness.
நீ மறவல்
do not forget.
மார்க்கமே நண்ணினாய்
you approached the right path.
தீர்த்த நீர் மல்குசென்னி அறவன் ஆரூர்தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you see save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr of Civaṉ who is the embodiment of all right conduct and whose head is filled with the sacred water of Kaṅkai.

my mind!
அம் பாம்பின் வாய்த்தேரைவாய்ச் சிறுபறவை
the small bee which is in the mouth of the frog which is in the mouth of the beautiful cobra.
செடிகொள்நோய் யாக்கை கடிகொள் பூந்தேன் சுவைத்து இன்புறலாமென்று கருதினாயே
in this body which is heir to many diseases and from which issues stench; you thought that you can taste the honey in the flower which has fragrance. (The idea is that the happiness we enjoy in the human body is infinitesimal when compared to the sufferings we have to undergo.)
முடிகளால் வானவர்முன் பணிந்து அன்பராய் ஏத்து முக்கண் அடிகள் ஆரூர்தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr of Civaṉ who has three eyes before whom the celestials prostrate, and praise, their heads touching the ground with love;

you were allured by the sufferings of those people whose status changes in this birth itself, losing all the aforesaid things, which are items of royal paraphernalic.
மாறு இலா வனமுலை மங்கை ஓர் பங்கினர்
Civaṉ who has a lady of beautiful breasts which retain their youthfulness always.
மதியம்வைத்த ஆறன் ஆரூர்தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr owned by Civaṉ who has a crescent and a river on his hand.

என்பினால் கழிநிரைத்து
having arranged in an order the rods which are bones.
இறைச்சிமண்சுவர் எறிந்து
plastering it with the mud of flesh.
இதுநம்இல்லம்
this is our house.
புன்புலால் நாறுதோல் போர்த்து
covered with the skin which issues a very offensive stench.
பொல்லாமையால் முகடு கொண்டு
having a top made of evils.
முன்பு எலாம் ஒன்பது வாய்தல் ஆர் குரம்பையில் மூழ்கிடாதே
without sinking into the hut of the body which has nine apertures, in former times.
அன்பன் ஆரூர் தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping ārūr belonging to our companion, Civaṉ.

{$} தந்தைதாய் தன்னுடன் தோன்றினார் புத்திரர்தாரம் என்னும் பந்தம் நீங்காது அவர்க்கு உய்ந்து போக்குஇல் எனப்பற்றினாய்
you clung tightly to your relations thinking that your father, mother (uterins brothers and sisters) sons and wife without giving up attachment towards them thinking that they had no way of saving themselves.
வெந்தநீறு ஆடியார், ஆதியார், சோதியார், வேதகீதர், எந்தை ஆரூர்தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr belonging to our father who song the vētam, the effulgent light, the source of all things and who bathes in the wellburnt sacred ash.

{$} நெஞ்சே
my mind!
நெடிய மால் பிரமனும் நீண்டு மண் இடந்து இன்னம் நேடிக் காணுப்படியனார்
Civaṉ is on a state which could not be seen still by searching for him by tāll Māl by digging the earth, and Piramaṉ by flying high in the sky.
பவளம் போல் உருவனார்
has a body like coral.
பணிவளர் மலையாள் பாக வடிவனார்
has in his body as one half the daughter of the mountain which is covered with snow.
மதிபொதிசடையனார்
who concealed in his matted locks the crescent.
மணிஅணி கண்டத்து எண்தோள் அடிகள் ஆரூர்தொழுது உய்யலாம்
you can save yourself by worshipping with joined hands ārūr of our god who has eight shoulders and a neck resembling the sapphire.

{$} பல் இதழ் மாதவி' அல்லி வண்டு யாழ் செயும் காழி ஊரன் நல்லவே நல்லவே சொல்லிய ஞானசம்பந்தன்
ñāṉacampantaṉ who always spoke good things only and who is a native of the village, Kāḻi where bees hum like the music produced in yāḻ in the inner petals of the common delight of the woods which has many petals.
எல்லி அம்போது எரி ஆடும் எம் ஈசனை ஏத்துபாடல் சொல்லவே வல்லவர்
those who are able to recite the songs praising our Civaṉ who dance in fire at night.
ஓதம் நீர் வையகத்தே தீது இலார்
are without blemish in this world surrounded by the ocean.
