{$} விண் இயங்கு மதிக் கண்ணியான்
the god who has the crescent which moves in the sky, as his chaplet.
விரி செஞ்சடைப் பெண் நயம் கொள் திருமேனியான்
and has a sacred person in which he has a lady with joy, and a spread-out red caṭai.
பெருமான்
the great god.
அனல் கண் நயம் கொள் நெற்றியான்
has a beautiful frontal eye of fire.
கலிக்காழியுள் மண் நயம் கொள் மறையாளர் ஏத்தும் மலர்ப்பாதனே
is the one who has feet like lotus flowers which are worshipped by brahmins of good qualities in this world, residing in Kāḻi of great bustle.

{$} வலிய காலன் உயிர் வீட்டினான்
Civaṉ who destroyed the life of the strong god of death.
மடவாளோடும் பலி விரும்பியது ஓர் கையினான்
and desired to receive alms in the hands, along with a lady.
பரமேட்டியான்
the supreme being in the highest place.
கலியை வென்ற மறையாளர்தம் கலிக்காழியுள்
residing in Kāḻi of great bustle brahmins who have removed poverty and other sufferings.
நலியவந்த வினை தீர்த்து உகந்த எம் நம்பனே
is the god in whom we can repose confidence, who destroyed the sins that come to afflict, and rejoiced on account of that.

{$} சுற்றல் ஆம் புலித்தோல் அசைத்து
having tied a tiger`s skin which can be would round the waist.
வெண் தலைத் துற்றல் ஆயது ஓர் கொள்கையினான்
has a liking for eating from the white skull.
சுடு நீற்றினான்
smears well burnt sacred ash.
கற்றல் கேட்டல் உடையார்கள் வாழ் கலிக் காழியுள்
in Kāḻi of great bustle where there are people of learning, and knowledge gained by listening to words of wisdom
மல்தயங்கு திரள் தோள் எம் மைந்தன் அவன் நல்லனே
our god of great strength who has eminent, globular and strong shoulders is the embodiment of all goodness.

{$} பல் அயங்கு தலை ஏந்தினான்
God who is holding a skull from which the teeth have been shaken from their positions.
படு கானிடை மல் அயங்கு திரள் தோள்கள் ஆர நடம் ஆடியும்
and the one who danced for the shoulders eminent by their strength to reach the directions, in the cremation ground.
கல் அயங்கு திரை சூழ் நீள் கலிக்காழியுள்
in Kāḻi of great bustle and length surrounded by waves which stir among the stones.
தொல் அயங்கு புகழ்பேண நின்ற சுடர் வண்ணன்
is the one who has the colour of fire whose ancient fame spread far and wide, is cherished with love by devotees.

{$} தூ நயம் கொள் திருமேனியில் பொடிப் பூசிப் போய்
Having smeared on the sacred, pure and good person.
நா நயம் கொள் மறை ஓதி
and chanting the vētam which is the privelege of the tongue.
மாது ஒரு பாகமாக், கான் நயம் கொள் புனல் வாசம் ஆர் கலிக்காழி
in Kāḻi of great bustle where the water is fragrant due to the proximity of jungle.
தேன் நயம் கொள் முடி ஆன் ஐந்து ஆடிய செல்வன்
is the Lord who bathes in all the five products on his head on which honey is also poured for bathing him

{$} சுழி இலங்கும் புனல் கங்கையாள் சடையாகவே
the lady named Kaṅkai of prominent eddies being in the caṭai.
இலங்கும் மொழி மட மங்கை பாகம் உகந்தவன்
the god who rejoiced in having on his half a tender lady of words gleaming in the joy.
கழி இலங்கும் கடல் சூழும் தண் கலிக்காழியுள்
in cool Kāḻi of great bustle which is girt by the sea where whirpools are prominent.
பழி இலங்கும் துயர் ஒன்றிலாப்பரமேட்டியே
is the most exalted one in the highest place who does not have even the slightest trace of suffering which is due born of reproach.

{$} முடி இலங்கும் உயர் சிந்தையால் முனிவர் தொழ
when the sages worship with the meditation in a place twelve inches above th crown.
அடி இலங்கும் கழல் ஆர்க்கவே அனல் ஏந்தியும்
Holding a fire in the hand to make the anklets which are glattering in the feet to make a big sound.
கடி இலங்கும் பொழில் சூழும் தண் கலிக்காழியுள்
in cool Kāḻi of great bustle surrounded by parks of great fragrance.
கொடி இலங்கும் இடையாளொடும் குடி கொண்டதே
what a wonder that the Lord dwelt with Umai who has a slender waist like a creeper!

{$} வல் அரக்கன் வரை பேர்க்க வந்தவன் தோள் முடி கல் அரக்கி (வ்) விரல் வாட்டினான்
God who destroyed the valour of the strong arakkaṉ who came to remove the mountain, by pressing down his shoulders and heads with that mountain
கலிக்காழியுள்
in Kāḻi of great bustle.
நல் ஒருக்கியது ஓர் சிந்தையார் மலர் தூவவே
when devotees with a well concentrated mind strew flowers (at his feet)
தொல் இருக்கு (ம்) மறை 1. ஒத்து உகந்து உடன் வாழுமே
dwells with Umai pleased with chanting `the old Rg-vetam and other vētams'.

{$} மருவும் நான் மறை யோனும் மாமணி வண்ணனும்
Piramaṉ who is well versed in four vetams and Māl whose complexion is like the big sapphire.
இருவர் கூடி இசைந்து ஏத்தவே எரியான் தன் ஊர்
the place of the god who was a column of fire to be praised by both of them with their minds united in prayer.
வெருவ நின்ற திரை ஓதம் 1. வார் வியல் முத்து அவை
the abundant pearls which are washed by the tide of the waves which are frightful.
கருவை ஆர் வயல் சங்கு சேர் கலிக் காழியே
is Kāḻi of great bustle where in the fields which have black hay-stocks conches gather together

{$} நன்றி ஒன்றும் உணராத வன் சமண் சாக்கியர் அன்றி அங்கு அவர் சொன்ன சொல் அவை கொள்கிலான்
the god did not mind the words spoken inimically by buddhists and strong camaṇar who do not know even a little of what is good.
கன்று மேதி இளங்கானல் வாழ் கலிக் காழியுள்
in Kāḻi of great bustle where the calves and the buffaloes stay in the tender sea-shore grove.
வெண்றிசேர் வியன் கோயில் கொண்ட விடையாளனே
is the one with a bull who has his big temple which is superior to other temples.

{$} கண்ணு மூன்றும் உடை(ய) ஆதி வாழ் கலிக் காழியுள்
in Kāḻi of great bustle where the source of all things who has three eyes resides.
அண்ணல் அம்தண் அருள் பேணி
desirous of the grace of the god.
ஞான சம்பந்தன் சொல் வண்ண மூன்றும் தெரிந்து இசை பாடுவார்
those who can sing the verses composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ, setting them to music with the knowledge of the three of pitches namely low, middle and high.
விண்ணும் மண்ணும் விரிகின்ற தொல் புகழாளரே
definitely possess an old fame which is spreading in heaven and in this earth.
