{$} மின்னும் சடைமேல் இள வெண் திங்கள் விளங்கவே
when the white crescent is shining on the glittering caṭai.
துன்னும் கடல் நஞ்சு இருள் தோய் கண்டர் தொன்மூதூர்
the very ancient place of Civaṉ who has a neck in which the black colour of the poison which rose in the ocean where many valuable things were crowded.
அன்னம் படியும் புனல் ஆர் அரிசில் ஆனை கொண்டு
the river aricil in whose water the swans bathe, with the help of its waves.
பென்னும் மணியும் பொரு தென்கரை மேற் புத்தூர்
is Puttūr on the southern bank on which gold and precious stones are dashed

{$} மேவா அசுரர் மேவு எயில் வேவ மலைவில்லால், ஏவு ஆர் எரி வெங்கணையால் எய்தான் எய்தும் ஊர்
the place where Civaṉ who shot a cruel arrow of fire from the bow of a mountain to burn the forts of the acurar who did not live Civaṉ, dwells.
நாவால் நாதன் நாமம் ஓதி நாள் தோறும் பூவால் நீரால் பூசுரர் போற்றும் புத்தூரே
is puttūr where the brahmins who are considered as the tevar living on the earth, worship Civaṉ with flowers and water, uttering the Lord`s names in their mouths.

{$} பல் ஆர் தலை சேர் மாலை சூடி
wearing on the head a garland of skulls with all the teeth intact.
பாம்பும் பூண்டு
having adorned himself with cobras also.
எல்லா இடமும் வெண்ணீறு அணிந்து
having smeared all over the body sacred white ash.
ஓர் ஏறு ஏறி
-and riding on a bull.
கல் ஆர் மங்கை பாகரேனும்
though he has on one half a daughter of the mountain.
காணுங்கால்
if he think about him.
பொல்லார் அல்லர்
he is not ugly to look at.
அழகியர் புத்தூர்ப் புனிதரே
the pure Civaṉ in puttūr is beautiful.

{$} வரி ஏர் வளையாள் அரிவை அஞ்ச வருகின்ற கரி ஏர் உரிவை போர்த்த கடவுள் கருதும் ஊர்
the place which the god, Civaṉ who covered himself with the beautiful skin of an elephant which came against him, to make the lady wearing bangles with beautiful lines, tremble with fear, desires to dwell.
அரி ஏர் கழனிப் பழனம் சூழ்ந்து அங்கு அழகாய பொரி ஏர் புன்கு சொரியும் சோலைப் புத்தூரே
-is puttūr where in the gardens the indian beech tree sheds its beautiful flowers resembling tried paddy and which is surrounded by tanks and fields where corn stalks are heeped.

{$} என்போடு அரவம் ஏனத்து எயிறோடு எழில் ஆமை, மின்போற்புரி நூல் விரவிப்பூண்ட (1) மணிமார்பர்
Civaṉ who adorns his chest with bones, a cobra, a hog's tusk, the beautiful shell of a tortoise and a sacred thread of three strands glittering like lightning, all of them combining together.
அன்போடு உருகும் அடியார்க்கு அன்பர் அமரும் ஊர்
the place which is desired by him who loves his devotees whose hearts melt out of live.
பொன்போது அலர் கோங்கு ஓங்கு சோலைப் புத்தூர்
is Puttūr where in the gardens common caung which has flowers like gold in colour, grow high.

{$} வள்ளி முலை தோய் குமரன் தாதை
the father of Kumaraṉ (Murukaṉ) who embraces the breasts of Vaḷḷi;
[[குறவி தோள் மணந்த செல்வக்குமரவேள் தாதை- (nāvukkaracar, peruvēḷūr 3);
நம் செந்தில் மேய வள்ளி மணாளற்குத்தாதைகண்டாய்- (Do. maṟaikkāṭu, taṇṭakam, 4)]]
வான்தோயும் வெள்ளிமலைபோல் விடை ஒன்று உடையான் மேவும் ஊர்
the plae which Civaṉ who has a bull resembling the silver mountain (Kayilai) which seems to touch the sky, desires.

தெள்ளி வரு நீர் அரிசில் தென்பால் சிறைவண்டும் புள்ளும் மலிபூம் பொய்கை சூழ்ந்த புத்தூர்
is puttūr surrounded by natural tank which abound in flowers, birds, and winged bees and which is situated on the southern side of the river, aricil which brings clear water.

of Civaṉ who has the nature of the earth, fire, air and sky.

அலந்த அடியான் அற்றைக்கு அன்று ஓர் காசு எய்தி
the devotee who suffered privation having received, from day to day, a coin.
புலர்ந்த காலை மாலை போற்றும் புத்தூர்
is puttūr where he worshipped Civaṉ in the morning when day breaks and in the evening.

{$} 'இத்தேர் 1. ஏக இம்மலை போர்ப்பன்' என்று ஏந்தும் பத்து ஓர்வாயான் வரைக்கீழ் அலற
(the arakkaṉ) who had ten mouths and who lifted Kayilai saying `I shall remove this mountain for my chariot to fly without any obstacle', to roar under that mountain.
பாதம் தான் வைத்து ஆர் அருள் செய் வரதன் மருவும் ஊர் ஆன புத்தூர் கானப்புகுவார் வினைகள் போகுமே
the Karmams of those who go to visit puttūr where the god who grants boon, granted his valuable grace, after fixing his leg firmly (to crush him), will go away from them.

Ayaṉ who is in a lotus which has on its stem thorns, and Māl to search for the head and feet.

the place of Civaṉ who could not be known by them as he rose as a column of bright fire.
கள் ஆர் நெய்தல் கழுநீர் ஆம்பல் கமலங்கள் புள் ஆர் பொய்கைப் பூப்பல தோன்றும் புத்தூர்
is puttūr which has in its natural ponds birds and many flowers like the white indian water lily, purple indian water lily, red indian water lily and lotus, blossoming.

the low people, camanar who eat with avidity the food keeping it in their hands.
துவர் உண்ட போர்வை மெய்யார் மண்டையர் மெய் அல்ல
and the buddhists who have an earthern vessel resembling in shape skull and who cover their bodies with a blanket soaked in myrtle-dye, do not contain any truth.
பொய்யா மொழியால் அந்தணர் போற்றும் புத்தூரில் ஐயா என்பார்க்கு ஐயுறவு இன்றி அழகு ஆம்
brilliance of the body will come without doubt to those who say, `the father in puttur where the brahmins worship you with the words of the vētams which never become false'.

{$} பொறி கொள் அரவம் பூண்டான் ஆண்ட புத்தூர் மேல்
on puttur in which Civaṉ who adorned himself with cobras having spots, ruled.
நறவம் கமழ் பூங்காழி ஞானசம்பந்தன் செறிவண் தமிழ் செய்மாலை செப்பவல்லார்கள்
those who can recite the garland of fruitful verses containing many meanings composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ of beautiful Kāḻi where the fragrance of honey spreads.
அறவன் கழல் சேர்ந்து அன்போடு இன்பம் அடைவார்
will reach the feet of Civaṉ who is the embodiment of all virtues, and derive love and happiness.
