{$} அக்கு இருந்த ஆரமும் ஆடு அரவும் ஆமையும் தொக்கு இருந்த மார்பினான்
Civaṉ has on his chest a garland of Uruttirākkam, a dancing cobra, a shell of tortoise, combining together
[[அக்கு may also mean bone;
அக்கு இருந்த ஆரம்: a garland of bones]]
தோல் உடையான்
((He)) dresses himself in a skin;
வெண்ணீற்றான்
((He)) smears himself with white holy ash;
புக்கிருந்த தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple into which he entered and stayed.
பொய் இலா மெய்ந் நெறிக்கே தக்கிருந்தார் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in Ākkūr where worthy people who are fit for the true path which is without falsehood, live.

{$} நீர் ஆர வார் சடையான்
Civaṉ has a long caṭai which is full of water;
நீறு உடையான்; ஏறு உடையான்
((He)) smears holy ash; (He)) has a bull;
கார் ஆர் பூங்கொன்றையினான் காதலித்த தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple which he who wears beautiful koṉṟai flowers that blossom profusely in winter, loved.
கூர் ஆரல் வாய் நிறையக் கொண்டு
having a mouthful of āral found in plenty;
[[āral: a kind of small fresh-water fish;]]
[[PP: நுண் ஆரல், பரு வரால், குரூஉக் கெடிற்ற, குண்டு அகழி

அயலே கோட்டகத்தில் தாரா மல்கு ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in Ākkūr where herons are increasing in the adjoining deep tanks.

Civaṉ embraced the body which has beautiful shoulders, of the daughter of the mountain, who has lips like red coral and eyes like sword.

வேளாளர் என்றவர்கள் வள்ளன்மையால் மிக்கு இருக்கும் தாளாளர் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkur where [there are] people of enterprise who are eminent and are renowned as vēḷāḷar

{$} கொங்கு சேர் தண்கொன்றை மாலையினான்
Civaṉ puts on a garland of cool koṉṟai which has honey and fragrance.
கூற்று அடரப் பொங்கினான்
flew into a rage when the god of death came to snatch the life of mārkaṇṭēyaṉ
பொங்கு ஒளிசேர் வெண்ணீற்றான் பூங்கோயில்
the beautiful temple of Civaṉ who smears white sacred ash of increasing brightness.
அங்கம் ஆறோடு அருமறைகள் ஐ வேள்வி தங்கிறார் ஆக்கூரிவல் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr where brahmins who have learnt the abstruse vētams and six aṅkams perform daily the five sacrifices
[[The five sacrifices are 1) piramayākam, 2) tevayākam, 3) pūtayākam 4) pitiryākam and māṉtayākam.]]

{$} ஆடு அரவம் வீக்கினான்
Civaṉ tied a dancing cobra
வீந்து அழிந்தார் வெண்தலை என்பு ஆக்கினான் பல கலங்கள் (ஆதரித்து)
made many ornaments out of the bones and white skulls of those who are dead and gone (wishing for them)
ஆதரித்துப் பெண் பாகம் ஆக்கினான் தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple of Civaṉ who made one half as a lady wishing for her.
[[அதரித்து can be added along with ஆக்கினான் also.]]
ஆம்பல் அம் பூம் பொய்கை புடை தாக்கினார் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr where people dug out a tank which has beautiful water-lily flowers, both white and red.

{$} பண் ஒளிசேர் நான் மறையான்
Civaṉ revealed the four vētams which have their accents and light of knowledge
பாடலினோடு ஆடலினான்
sings and dances
கண் ஒளி சேர் நெற்றியினான்
has a forehead that is bright by the frontal eye.
காதலித்த தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple that he loved.
விண் ஒளி சேர் மாமதியம் தீண்டியக்கால் வெண்மாடம் தண் ஒளி சேர் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr when the white storeys get cool light when the big and bright moon touches them.

{$} வீங்கினார் மும்மதிலும் வில் வரையால் வெந்து அவிய வாங்கினார்
Civaṉ bent by stringing the bow which was the mountain, to be consumed by fire and to be destroyed, the three forts of the acurar puffed with pride.
வானவர்கள் வந்து இறைஞ்சும் தொல் கோயில்
his ancient temple where the celestials worship him coming to the earth.
பாங்கின் ஆர் நான் மறையோடு ஆறு அங்கம் பலகலைகள் தாங்கினார் ஆக்கூறில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr where brahmins who retain many arts, six aṅkams in addition to the four vētams which are full of good things, in their memory.

{$} கல் நெடிய குன்று எடுத்தான் தோள் அடரக் கால் ஊன்றி
pressing down the legs to crush the shoulders of īrāvaṇaṉ who lifted the high mountain having stones.
இன்னருளால் ஆட்கொண்ட எம்பெருமான் தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple of our god who later admitted him as his protege by his benign grace.
பொன் அடிக்கே நாள் தோறும் பூவோடு நீர் சுமக்கும் தன் அடியார் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr where his devotees, who carry daily flowers and water to the golden feet, live;

the primordial god who could not be found out by Nārayaṇaṉ who has many good things and Piramaṉ of four faces.
தோற்றம் கேடு இல்லாதான் தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple of Civaṉ who has no birth and death.
இன்மையால் சென்று இரந்தார்க்கு இல்லை என்னாது ஈந்து உவக்கும் தன்மையார் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr where [there are] people who have the nature of feeling joy in giving to those who went to them soliciting aid, without saying we have nothing to give.

{$} சமண் தேரர் நா மருவு புன்மை நவிற்ற
when the camanar and tēvar speak the vile words to which their tongues are accustomed.
பூ மருவு கொன்றையினான் புக்கு அமரும் தொல் கோயில்
the ancient temple into which Civaṉ who adorns himself with shining koṉṟai flowers, entered and stayed.
சேல் மருவு பைங்கயத்துச் செங்கழுநீர் பைங்குவளை (தாம்) மருவும் ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடமே
is the self-existing temple in ākkūr where in the tanks of greenish water red indian water-lily, and fertile blue nelumbo flowers are growing.

{$} ஆடல் அமர்ந்தானை, ஆக்கூரில் தான் தோன்றி மாடம் அமர்ந்தானை
on Civaṉ who rejoiced in dancing and dwelt happily in the self-existing temple at ākkūr.
மாடம் சேர் தண் காழி நாடற்கு அரியசீர் ஞானசம்பந்தன் சொல் பாடல் இவை வல்லார்க்கு இல்லை ஆம் பாவமே
there will be no sins with those who are able to recite the verses composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ who has fame that could not be measured, and [is] a native of Kāḻi which has many storeyed buildings.
