{$} புனல் ஆடிய புன்சடையாய்
you have golden matted locks in which water is moving (புன்சடை - பொன்சடை)
அரணம் அனலாக விழித்தவனே
you opened your eye to make the forts to be consumed by fire.
[[This is a new thing that the three forts were destroyed by the fire of the third eye.]]
அழகு ஆர்கனல் ஆடலினாய்
you dance in the beautiful fire (at the end of the world)
கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
you are in kaḻippalai
உன் வார்கழல் கைதொழுது உள்குதும்
we will meditate on your long feet by worshipping them with out hands
[[உன: அ is the possessive case suffix denoting plural as it is followed by Kaḻal; Kaḻal is plural.]]

{$} துணையாக ஓர் தூவளம் மாதினையும் இணையாக உகந்தவனே
you rejoiced in having a pure and wealthy lady as your consort so that it is difficult to say you are two

இறைவா
one who pervades in all things
இறை-தங்குதல் கணையால் எயில் எய்த கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
god who are in Kaḻippālai and who discharged an arrow on the forts.
இணையார் கழல் ஏத்த இடர் கெடும்
all the sufferings will vanish if we worship the two feet.

{$} நெடியாய்
one who is tall!
குறியாய்
one who is short.
நிமிர் புன்சடையின் முடியாய்
one who has tied as a knot the golden matted locks which are erect.
சுடுவெண்பொடி முற்ற அணிவாய்
you smear the well-burnt white ash on the whole of your form.
கடி ஆர் பொழில் சூழ் கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
you are in Kaḻippālai surrounded by fragrant gardens.
அடியார்க்கு அவலம்மவை அடையா
sufferings will not approach your devotees.

{$} எளியாய்
you are easy to approach for your devotees.
அரியாய்
(at the same time) you are difficult to be approached by others.
நிலம், நீரொடு, தீ, வளி, காயம் என வெளிமன்னிய தூ ஒளியாய்
you who are the earth, water, fire, air and sky; and the spotless light which is permanent, and well-known to everybody.
உனையே தொழுது உன்னுமவர்க்கு அளியாய்
you have compassion on those who worship, and meditate on, you only.
கழிப்பாலை அமர்ந்தவனே
you who are residing in Kaḻippālai out of your will.

{$} நட நண்ணி ஓர் நாகம் அசைத்தவனே
you tied a serpent, performing dance.
விடம் நண்ணிய தூமிடறா
you have a neck in which there is poison and which is the support of tēvar.
விகிர்தா
God who is different from the world.
கடல் நண்ணு கழிப்பதி காவலனே
the ruler of Kaḻippālai which is very near the sea.
உடல் நண்ணி உன் அடியே வணங்குவன்
I will adore your feet only, with my body (falling on the earth)

{$} பிறை ஆர்சடையாய்
you have matted locks on which there is a crescent.
பெரியாய்
Oh great one!
பெரிய மறை ஆர்தரு வாய்மையினாய்
you are the true meaning mentioned in the great vētams.
பெரியம் மறை;
[[ம் is doubled for metre.]]
உலகில் கறையார் பொழில்சூழ் கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
you are in Kaḻippalai in the world which is surrounded by dark gardens
[[As the trees are dense the sunlight cannot pierce; so the gardens are dark even at daytime.]]
இறை ஆர்கழல் ஏத்த இடம் கெடும்
all distresses will perish of their own accord, to worship the feet which are pervading (all things and places)

{$} முதிரும் சடையின் முடிமேல் விளங்கும் கதிர் வெண் பிறையாய்
you have a shining crescent of spreading rays, on the knot of the matted locks which are old.
கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
you are in Kalippālai!
எதிர்கொள் மொழியால் இரந்து ஏத்துமவர்க்கு
for those who praise you in the second person begging for boons.
அதிரும் வினையாயின ஆசறுமே
All the actions which produce mental shock will perish quickly (ஆசு- quicky)

{$} எரிய ஆர்கனையால் எயில் எய்தவனே
you shot arrow tipped with fire, on the forts.
விரி ஆர்தருவீழ்சடையாய்
you have matted locks falling and spreading, on the nape.
இரவில் கரிகாடலினாய்
you dance in the night in the cremationground.
கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
you are in Kaḻippālai
உரிது ஆகி உன் அடியே வணங்குவன்
I shall adore your feet only, myself having become your rightful property.

{$} நலம் நாரணன் நான்முகன் நண்ணல் உறக் கனலானவனே
you assumed the form of a pillar of fire when beautiful nāraṇaṉ (nārāyaṇaṉ) and the four-faced one tried to search your head and feet.
கழிப்பாலை உளாய்
you are in Kaḻippālai
எயில் எய்தவனே
one who destroyed the forts with an arrow.
உனவார் கழலே தொழுது உன்னுமவர்க்கு வினை இலதாம்
sins will disappear for those who adore, and meditate on, your long feet only.

{2:21}__10+
{$} தவர் கொண்ட தொழிற் சமண் வேடரொடும்
along with those caman who have an exterior appearance like people who performed sincere penance, and took upon themselves the action of people doing penance.
துவர் கொண்டன நுண்துகில் ஆடையரும் (ஆகிய) அவர்
those who done themselves with a fine cloth soaked in yellow ochre.
கொண்டனவிட்டு
leaving aside their doctrines.
அடிகள் உறையும் உவர் கொண்ட கழிப்பதி உள்குதும்
we shall think of the supreme Lord residing in Kaḻippālai having saltish water nearby.

{$} புகலிப் பழியா மறை ஞானசம்பந்தன் சொல் வழிபாடு இவை கொண்டு
with the words of Ñāṉacampantaṉ who has a knowledge of maṟai without reproach and who is a native of pukali (sīrkāḻi), which can be used for worship
[[புகலி: one of the 12 names for Cīrkāḻi.]]
இமையோரொடு கெழியார்
will join with the tēvar who do not wink.
கேடு இலர்
they will not know ruin.
