{$} அழுந்தை மறையோர்
the brahmins in aḻuntai
தொழுமாறு வல்லார்
who are capable of worshipping with joined hands.
துயர்தீர நினைந்து எழுமாறு வல்லார்
who are able to wake up thinking of god as their suffering of birth is removed.
இசைபாட விம்மி அழுமாறு வல்லார்
and who are able to weep and sob in the midst of singing.
வழிபாடு செய்மாமடம் மன்னினையே
you stayed in the great maṭam where they perform worship with rituals

{$} கடல் ஏறிய நஞ்சு அமுது உண்டவனே
one who consumed as nectar the poison which came on the shore of the ocean!
உடலே
the body!
உயிரே
the life within it!
உணர்வே
the knowledge!
எழிலே
the beauty!
அடல் ஏறு உடையாய்
one who has a strong bull
விடலே
the chief!
அழுந்தை மறையோர் தொழ மாமடம் மேவினையே
you desired the big maṭam to be worshipped by the brahmins of Aḻuntai.

{$} கழிகாடலனே
you dance in the cremation ground at night;

கனல் ஆடலினாய்
you dance in the fire
பழிபாடு இலனே
you have nothing to be despised
அவையே பயிலும் அழிபாடு இலராய்
without knowing defeat and practising the learning in assemblies
அழுந்தை மறையோர் வழிபாடு செய்மாமடம் மன்னினையே
you stayed permanently in the big maṭam where brahmins of aḻuntai perform worship with rituals.

{$} வானே
the cosmic space!
மலையே
the mountain!
என் மன்னுயிரே
my eternal life
(தானே) தொழுவார் தொழு தாள் மணியே
the ruby whose feet are worshipped by worshippers.
ஆனே
the cow!
சிவனே
Civaṉ!
அழுந்தையவர் எம்மானே என மாமடம் மன்னினையே
you stayed permanently in the great maṭam to be praised by the people of aḻuntai as our master.

{$} அலை ஆர் புனல்சூழ் அழுந்தைப்பெருமான்
the great one in aḻuntai surrounded by water full of rippling waves!
நிலை ஆர் மறியும் நிறை வெண் மழுவும் இலை ஆர் படையும் இவை ஏந்து (1) செல்வ
the god who holds in his hands a standing young deer. a pure white battle-axe a trident of three blades.
நிலையாவது
To meditate upon these is permanent wealth
கொள் என நீ நினையே
you make me think you keep them in your mind'

{$} நறவு ஆர் தலையின் நயவா
Civaṉ who feels happy in holding a skull filled with today!

உலகில் பிறவாதவனே
you are not born in the earth as a human being;
[[cf. பிறவாயாக்கைப் பெரியோன் (cilappatikāram, 5-169)]]
பிணி இல்லவனே
you are free from diseases!
அறை ஆர் கழலாய்
you wears Kaḻal which makes a sound!
அழுந்தை மறையோர்
the brahmins in aḻuntai
மறவாது எழ
to wake up from sleep remembering you
மாமடம் மன்னினையே
you stayed permanently in the great maṭam.

{$} தடுமாறுவல்லாய்
you who are capable causing bewilderment to souls to understand you properly!
தலைவா
the chief!
மதியம் சுடுமாறு வல்லாய்
you who are capable of inflicting pain to those ladies who fall in love with you, by the crescent!
சுடர் ஆர்சடையில் அடும் ஆறு வல்லாய்
you who are capable of carrying a river causing damage in your brilliant catai!
அழுந்தை மறையோர் நெடுமாநகர் கைதொழநின்றனையே
you stayed permanently in the big and long temple to be worshipped by brahmins of aḻuntai.

{$} பெரியாய்
great one!
சிறியாய்
and at the same time a small one!
பிறையாய்
one who has a crescent!
மிடறுகரியாய்
one who has a black neck!
கரிகாடு உயர் வீடு உடையாய்
you who have the scorched cremation-ground as your temple;
[[cf. கோயில் சுடுகாடு கொல் புலிதோல் நல்லாடை (tiruvācakam, tiruccāḻal, 3)]]
அரியாய் எளியாய்
you who are difficult to attain to non-devotees; but at the same time easy of accessebility to devotees!
அழுந்தை மறையோர் வெரியார் தொழ மாமடம் மன்னினையே
you stayed permanently in the big maṭam to be worshipped by the brahmins in aḻuntai who are afraid of birth.

{2:20}__9+
{$} மணிநீள் முடியான் அரக்கன்
the arakkaṉ who were a long crown set with precious stones.
மலையைத் தணியாது உடுத்தான் உடலம் நெரித்த அணி ஆர் விரலாய்
you have a beautiful toe with which you crushed the body (of that arakkaṉ) when he lifted the mountain, his anger not being softened.
அழுந்தை மறையோர் (1) பணி மாமடம் மன்னியிருந்தனையே
you were permanently staying in the big matam to which the brahmins pay obeisance

{$} முடி ஆர்சடையாய்
you have a caṭai coiled into a crown!
முனம் நாள் இருவர் நெடியான் மலரான் இவர்கள் நிகழ்வால் அடி மேல் அறியார்
these two persons the tall Māl and Piramaṉ in the lotus flower could not find the head and feet in the distant past, by their efforts to find them.

{$} அருஞானம் வல்லார் அழுந்தை மறையோர்
god who is worshipped by the brahmins in aḻuntai who possess the previous spiritual wisdom rare to obtain.
பெரு ஞானம் உடைப் பெருமான் அவனை
and who has abundant spiritual wisdom.
திருஞானசம்பந்தன செந்தமிழ்கள்
the verses composed on him by tiruñāṉacampantaṉ, in refined standard tamiḻ
உருஞானம் உண்டாம் உணர்ந்தார் தமக்கே
the knowledge of realising the true form of Civaṉ will come to them to its own accord.
