{$} சடையாயஎனும்(ஆல்)
this lady will say, one who has a catai!'
சரண் நீ எனும் (ஆல்)
she says you are my refuge'
விடையாய் எனும் (ஆல்)
says, one who has a bull'.
வெருவாவிழும் (ஆல்)
she falls on the ground frightened
மடைஆர்குவளை மலரும் மருகல் உடையாய்
Civaṉ who has as his abode marukal where blue nelumbo flowers that grow in the sluices to the fields blossom.
இவள் உள்மெலிவு தகுமோ
is it proper for this lady to suffer mental fatique?

{$} சிந்தாய் எனும் (ஆல்)
this lady says, Civaṉ is my mind!'
சிவனே எனும் (ஆல்)
says, Civaṉ'
முந்தாய்எனும் (ஆல்)
says, one who is primordial'
முதல்வாஎனும் (ஆல்)
says, the cause of all things.
கொந்து ஆர்குவளைகுலவும் மருகல்எந்தாய்
our father who is in marukal where bunches of blue nelumbo flowers are shining'.
இவள் ஏசறவு தகுமோ
is it proper for this lady to be troubled in mind.

{$} அறை ஆர்கழலும் அழல்வாய் அரவும் பிறை ஆர்சடையும் உடையாய்
Civaṉ who wears a Kaḻal making sound, has a cobra that has poison in its mouth, and a catai which bears the crescent!
பெரிய மறையார் மருகல் மகிழ்வாய்
you rejoice in staying in marukal where great brahmins who have learnt the vētams live.
இவளை இறை ஆர் வளைகொண்டு எழில்வல்வினையே
you took away the bangles that are worn in the wrist and snatched her beauty.

{$} ஒலிநீர் சடையில் கரந்தாய்
you concealed in your caṭai water which makes a sound.
உலகம் பலி நீ திரிவாய்
you wander throughout the world for alms.
பழிஇல்புகழாய்
you have fame that has blame attached to it.
மலிநீர்மருகல் மகிழ்வாய்
you rejoice in staying in marukal which has plenty of water.
இவளை மெலி நீர்மையள் ஆக்கவும் வேண்டினையே
you desired this lady to become enfeebled also.

{$} துணிநீலவண்ணம் முகில் (1) தோன்றிஅன்ன மணிநீலகண்டம்
you have a beautiful blue neck which resembles the cloud which has clear blue colour and appears in the sky.
மருகல் கணிநீல வண்டு ஆர் குழலாள் இவள் தன்அணிநீல ஒண்கண் அயர்வு ஆக்கினையே
you made the beautiful bright eyes resembling blue nelumbo flowers of this lady on whose tresses of hair black bees him in the chaplets and who is to be treated with esteem, in Marukal to forget herself.

you are praised by many people.
சடைமேல் மலரும்பிறை ஒன்று உடையாய்
you have a flourishing crescent on your caṭai.

புலரும் தனையும் துயிலாள் புடைபோந்து
turning in the bed without sleeping till day-break.
அலரும் படுமோ அடியாள் இவளே
is it proper that this lady who is your slave to be subject of slanderous talk?

{$} வழுவாள் பெருமான் கழல வாழ்கஎனா (1) எழுவாள்
this lady will walk up from sleep saying, Let the feet of our Lord live long, without failing.
நினைவாள் இரவும் பகலும்
she will meditate on them night and day.
மழுவாள் உடையாய்
one who has a weapon of a battle-axe!
மருகற் பெருமான்
the Lord in marukal!
தொழுவாள் இவளைத்துயர் ஆக்கினையே
you made this lady who worship you, to suffer.

when the King of ilaṅkai lifted the mountain.
(1) துலங்க(வ்)விரல் ஊன்றலும்
when Civaṉ fixed firmly his toe to make him confused.
தோன்றலனாய்
becoming dazed wihout knowing what to do
வலம்கொள் மதிசூழ் மருகற்பெருமான்
the Lord in marukal surrounded by a fortified wall, from left to right, and received boons from you!
அலங்கல் இவளை (2) அலர் ஆக்கினையே
you made this lady who wears a garland the subject of slanderous talk.

{$} எரிஆர்சடையும் அடியும்(ம்) இருவர், தெரியாதது ஓர்தீத்திரள் ஆயவனே
Civaṉ who assumed the form of a ball of fire whose caṭai which is like fire, and feet could not be found out by the two (Māl and Piramaṉ).
மரியார் பிரியா மருகற் பெருமான்
the Lord in marukal whom your flowers could not leave;(மரியார்-மரீஇயார்)

the camaṇar who have no sense and cakkiyar who have spread themselves everywhere wander doing what is not the proper path.
மறிஏந்துகையாய்
you, holding a young deer in the hand!
மருகற்பெருமான்
the Lord in marukal!
நெறிஆர்குழலி நிறை நீக்கினையே
you removed the firm adherence to a life of chastity of this lady who has tresses of curly hair.

{$} வயஞானம்வல்லார் மருகற் பெருமான் உயர்ஞானம் உணர்ந்து அடிஉள்குதலால்
meditating on the feet of Civaṉ realising the superior spiritual wisdom granted by the Lord in marukal where people who are capable of the powerful spiritual wisdom, live.
இயல் ஞானசம்பந்தன்பாடல் வல்லார் புகழ்வியல் ஞாலம் எல்லாம் விளங்கும்
the fame of those who can recite the songs composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ who has knowledge of iyal tamiḻ, will shine in this wide world.
