{$} சீரின் ஆர் மணியும் அகில் சந்தும் செறிவரை வாரி நீர் வரு பொன்னி வட மங்கலக்குடி
in Maṅkalakkuṭi which is on the northern bank of the poṉṉi (Kaviri) which brings with its floods from the mountain which has in an abundant measure famous precious stones, eagle-wood trees, and sandal-wood trees
நீரின் மாமுனிவன் நெடுங்கை கொடு நீர் தனைப் பூரித்து ஆட்டி அர்ச்சிக்க இருந்த புராணனே
Civaṉ is the primordial god who was there to be worshipped with flowers uttering his names; and bathing him, with water filled up in a vessel from the Kaviri, by stretching his long hands as far as the water in the Kaviri, by a great sage.

{$} பணம் கொள் ஆடு அரவு அல்குல் நல்லார் பயின்று ஏத்த மணம் கொள், மாமயில் ஆலும், பொழில் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi which has fragrant gardens in which great peacocks dance, when the ladies who have sides like the dancing cobra which has a hood, always sing his praises
இணங்கு இலா (1) மறையோர் இமையோர் தொழுது ஏத்திட
and to be praised and worshipped with joined hands by brahmins who have no comparison and tēvar who do not wink

அணங்கினோடு இருந்தான் அடியே சரண் ஆகும்
the feet of the god who was with a divine damsel, is our refuge

{$} கருங்கையானை ஈர் உரி போர்த்திடு கள்வனார்
the thief who covered himself with the wet skin of a black elephant of large trunk
மருங்கு எலாம் மணம் ஆர் பொழில் சூழ் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi surrounded by gardens full of a fragrance which spreads on all sides
அரும்பு சேர் மலர்க் கொன்றையினான் அடி அன்பொடு விரும்பி ஏத்தவல்லார் வினை ஆயின வீடுமே
the evil actions of those who are able to praise with desire and love the feet of the god who wears koṉṟai flowers along with their buds, with perish.

{$} பறையினோடு ஒலி பாடலும் ஆடலும் பாரிடம் மறையினோடு இயல் மல்கிடுவார் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi where brahmins who are eminent by their knowledge of vētam and conduct prescribed in the vētam, and where groups of pūtam indulge in singing and dancing to the accompaniment of the sound of drums

குறைவு இலா நிறைவே
`you who are full without deficiency'
குணம் இல் குணமே
`you who possess the eight great qualities'

praising like this
முறையினால் வணங்கு(ம்) மவர் முன்னெறி காண்பர்
those who bow to him according to rules will perceive the foremost path which leads to eternal bliss.

{$} ஆனில் அம்கிளர் ஐந்தும் அவிர் முடி ஆடி ஓர் மான் இலங்கு கையினான் மணம் ஆர் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi which is full of fragrance, and belonging to Civaṉ on whose hand a deer is prominent and who has a shining head on which the important five products from the cow are poured for bathing
[[இலங்குகையினான் these words have become இலங்கையினான்; குலையலங்காந்தள் -(Kalittokai, 40-12);
[[குலை அலங்கு காந்தள் have become குலையலங்காந்தள்; the words may also be split into மான் நில் அங்கையினான் one on whose beautiful hand the deer stands]]
ஊன் இல் வெண் தலைக் கையுடையான் உயர் பாதமே ஞானமாக நின்று ஏத்தவல்லார்வினை நாசமே
all the actions of those who can praise the eminent feet of Civaṉ who has on his hand a white skull which has no flesh, which is itself Civañāṉam, will meet with destruction

{$} தேனும் ஆய் அமுது ஆகி நின்றான், தெளி சிந்தையுள்
in the clear minds of devotees Civaṉ was always like honey and nectar
வானும் ஆய் மதி சூடவல்லான் மங்கலக்குடிக் கோனை
the Lord in maṅkalakkuṭi who wears a crescent, being himself the spiritual atmosphere.
நாள் தொறும் ஏத்திக் குணம் கொடு கூறுவார் ஊனம் ஆனவை போய் அறும், உய்யும் வகை (அது)
the defects of those who praise and appreciate his qualities daily, will completely vanish so that they can be saved

{$} வேள் படுத்திடு கண்ணினன், மேருவில்லாகவே வாள் அரக்கர் புரம் எரித்தான், மங்கலக்குடி ஆளும் ஆதிப் பிரான்
Civaṉ who made cupid to die from the fire issued from the frontal eye, who burnt the cities of the cruel arakkar using the mountain, mēru, as a bow and who reigns in maṅkalakkuṭi and is the origin of all things
அடிகள் அடைந்து ஏத்த
If people praise his feet having sought them as refuge
கோளும் நாளும் போய் அறும்
the evil effects of planets and stars will completely disappear from them
குற்றம் இல்லார்கள்
they are without blemish

{$} பொலியும் மால்வரை புக்கு எடுத்தான் புகழ்ந்து ஏத்திட
when (Irāvaṇaṉ) who went under the big and celebrated mountain of Kailācam, and lifted it, sang the Lord`s praises
வலியும் வாளொடு நாள் கொடுத்தான் மங்கலக்குடிப் புலியன் ஆடையினான் அடி ஏத்திடும் புண்ணியர்
the virtuous people who praise the feet of the Lord in maṅkalakkuṭi who wears a tiger`s skin, and granted strength, a sword and a long span of life, to him
மலியும் வான் உலகம் புகவல்லவர்; காண்மின்
are able to enter into heaven which abounds in very many good things; you know this.

{$} ஞாலம் முன் படைத்தான் நளிர் மாமலர்மேல் அயன் மாலும் காண ஒணா எரியான் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi where Civaṉ who had a form of fire which could not be known by Māl and Ayaṉ who is seated on a cool and big (lotus) flower, the creator of the world in the beginning
ஏலவார் குழலாள் ஒரு பாகம் இடங்கொடு கோலம் ஆகி நின்றான் குணம் கூறும்; குணம் அதே
(people of this world!) sing the qualities of the god who was beautiful by having on the left half a lady with long tresses of hair on which an unguent is rubbed for adding perfume to it; that is the proper thing to do; others are not.

{$} மெய்யில் மாசினர், 1. மேனிவிரிதுவர் ஆடையர் பொய்யை விட்டிடும் புண்ணியர் சேர் மங்கலக்குடி
in maṅkalakkuṭi where virtuous people who have completely turned a deaf ear to the lies of jains who have dirt on their bodies, and buddhist who don unfolded saffron robes on their bodies.
செய்யமேணி, செழும்புனற் கங்கை செறிசடை ஐயன் சேவடி ஏத்தவல்லார்க்கு அழகு ஆகும்
Beauty will come to those who are able to praise the red feet of Civaṉ who has on his thick catai Kaṅkai of abundant water, and who has a red body

{$} மந்தம் ஆம் பொழில் சூழ் மங்கலக்குடி மன்னிய எந்தையை
about my father who stays permanently in maṅkalakkuṭi surrounded by gardens from which gentle southern breeze starts
எழில் ஆர் பொழிற் காழியர் காவலன் ஞானசம்பந்தன்
ñāṉacampantaṉ, the eminent person among the natives Kāḻi which has beautiful gardens
சிந்தை செய்து அடி சேர்த்திடு சொல்
the verses that were composed by fixing his mind on god, and are capable of helping to reach the feet of the god
முந்தி ஏத்தவல்லார் இமையோர் முதல் ஆவர்
those who are able to praise god with these early in their lives will become the king of tēvar who do not wink
