உரை உலாம் பொருள் ஆய் உலகு ஆள் உடையீர்
Lord who rules over the world, being the meaning of the words
வரை உலாம் மடமாது உடன் ஆகிய மாண்பு (அது) சொலீர்

தம் சிந்தை செய்து அடியார் பரவும் திருவான்மியூர்
in Tiruvāṉmiyūr where the devotees who always meditate and worship Civaṉ.
சுந்தரக் கழல் மேல் சிலம்பு ஆர்க்க வல்லீர்
god who is strong enough to wear an anklet on the beautiful Kaḻal!
அந்தியின் (ன்) ஒளியின் நிறம் ஆக்கிய வண்ணமே சொலீர்

{$} கான் அயங்கிய தண்கழி சூழ் கடலின் புறம் தேன் அயங்கிய பைம்பொழில் சூழ் திருவான்மியூர்
in Tiruvāṉmiyūr surrounded by green gardens in which honey shakes by the side of the sea surrounded by cool and deep back-water in the jungles.
தோல் நயங்கு அமர் ஆடையினீர்
Civaṉ who wears a dress made of skin which has lost its former state!
ஆனை அங்க உரி போர்த்து அனல் ஆட உகந்தது சொலீர்
please tell me the cause for your rejoicing in dancing in fire, covering yourself with the skin of an elephant with its parts of the body intact?

{$} மஞ்சு உலாவிய மாடம் மதிற் பொலி மாளிகைச் செஞ்சொலார்கள் தாம்பயிலும் திருவான்மியூர்
in tiruvāṉmiyūr where people who speak words in their primary significance are on the increase and wich has mansions with walls of fortification which have storeys on which clouds roam about
துஞ்சு வஞ்சு இருள் ஆடல் உகக்க வல்லீர்
God who is capable of rejoicing in dancing in the dark night when all are fast asleep!
வந்சம் நஞ்சு உண்டு வானவர்க்கு இன்னருள் வைத்ததே சொலீர்
please tell me the reason for granting your sweet grace to the celestials having consumed the poison which was black in colour!

{$} மண்ணினில் புகழ் பெற்றவர் மங்கையர் தாம் பயில் திண்ணெனப் புரிசைத் தொழில் ஆர் திருவான்மியூர்
in Tiruvāṉmiyūr which has strong walls of fortification of architectural workmanship where ladies who have attained fame by their chastity, gather.
துண்ணெனத் திரியும் சரிதைத் தொழிலீர்
Civaṉ who has the conduct to instil fear into the minds of ladies, when you wander for receiving alms!
வண்ணினில் பிறை செஞ்சடை வைத்த வியப்பு (அதே) சொலீர்
please tell me the wonderful act of placing on your red caṭai a crescent that shines in the sky!

{$} போது உலாவிய தண் பொழில் சூழ் புரிசைப் புறம் தீது இல் அந்தணர் ஓத்து ஒழியாத் திருவான்மியூர் சூது உலாவிய கொங்கை ஒர் பங்கு உடையீர்
Civaṉ who has a lady whose breasts are like the conical pieces in dice-play, in Tiruvāṉmiyūr where [there is] chanting of the Vētam-s by the brahmins who have no sinful deeds, outside the wall of fortification surrounded by cool gardens which have buds about to blossom!
மூது எயில் ஒரு மூன்று எரி ஊட்டிய மொய்ம்பு (அதே) சொலீர்
please tell me the strength with which you set fire to the ancient three forts.

{$} வண்டு இரைத்த தடம் பொழிலின் நிழற் கானல் வாய்த் தெண்திரைக் கடல் ஓதம் மல்கும் திருவான்மியூர்த் தொண்டு இரைத்து எழுந்து ஏத்திய தொல் கழலீர்
Civaṉ who wears an old Kaḻal whom the devotees praise rising and making a huge sound of uttering your names in tiruvāṉmiyūr, where teh water of the sea of clear waves rises in the sea-shore gardens and in the shade of the big gardens where the bees hum noisily!
பண்டு இருக்கு ஒரு நால்வர்க்கு நீர் உரை செய்ததே சொலீர்
please tell me the reason for expounding the vetams to the four sages in the distant past.

{$} தக்கு இல் வந்த தசக்கிரிவன் தலைபத்து இறத்திக்கில் வந்து அலற(வ்) அடர்த்தீர்
you pressed down the ten heads of Irāvaṇaṉ who had ten heads who came in the improper manner, to roar being seized with sudden fright (திக்கில்-திகில் the underlined letter is augmentation for rhyme. திக்கில் may also mean who had no other refuge).
திருவான்மியூர்த் தொக்க மாதொடும் வீற்றிருந்தீர்
Civaṉ who was seated majesetically with a lady who was united with you, in tiruvāṉmiyūr!
பக்கமே பல பாரிடம் பேய்கள் பயின்றதே அருள் என் சொலீர்
please tell me which is the reason for the grace for the many putams and pēys to surround you on the sides.

{$} பொருது வார்கடல் எண்திசையும் தரு வாரியால் திரிதரும் புகழ் செல்வம் மல்கும் திருவான்மியூர்ச் சுருதியார் இருவர்க்கும் அறிவரியீர்
you were not easily to be seen by those two, Māl, and Piramaṉ who are spoken in the vētams, in tiruvāṉmiyūr where wealth and fame which have spread everywhere by the income derived from the eight directions by the trade done through the extensive sea which dashes against the shore.
எருது மேல் கொடு உழன்று உகந்து இல்பலி ஏற்றதே சொலீர்
please tell me the reason for receiving alms in houses with joy wandering, seated on a bull.

Civaṉ who has a bright colour by smearing on the body sacred ash in a large quantity in tiruvaṉmiyūr where the music of the devotees who have penance to their credit, and where the swarm of bees which reach in the evening the gardens in which clouds rise increasing in size!
கைதவச் சமண் சாக்கியர் கட்டுரைக்கின்றதே சொலீர்
what is the reason for the fabricated words of the deceitful amaṇar and cākkiyar?

those who meditate on the questions asked by ñāṉacampantaṉ of Kaḻi which rose above the deluge by reciting them, to be answered by our Lord who is the first cause in tiruvaṉmiyūr who is the god who has done good penance and has a lady on one half.
நீதியால் நினைவார் நெடுவான் உலகு ஆள்வரே
those who meditate on these in the proper manner will definitely rule over the extensive world of heaven.
