[[There is an anecdote about this decade. When Tirunīlakaṇṭa Yāḻppāṇar reached Tarumapuram along with Campantar the relations on his mother's side received him and highly complimented him on his playing on the yāḻ Campantar's songs and went to that extent of flattering him, as you play the songs on yāḻ their greatness spreads in the world. Pāṇaṉ trembled greatly with fear, fell at the feet of Campantar and requested him to compose songs which could not be played upon yāḻ. Pāṇar could not play this decade on yāḻ and therefore went to break his yāḻ. Campantar prevented him from doing so saying, Try to play the songs on yāḻ as much as you can. So this decade got the name of yāḻmūri, the meaning is that this decade is too intricate in music to be played on yāḻ.]]

dances when the groups of army of putam stand by his side and sing.
அவர் படர் சடை(ந்) நெடுமுடியது ஓர் புனலர்
has water on his tall and spreading caṭai coiled into and crown.
வேதமொடு ஏழ்இசை பாடுவர்
will sing the seven notes of the diatonic scale along with Vētam.
ஆழ்கடல் வெண்திரை(ந்) நுரை கரைபொருது விம்மி நின்று
the foam of the white waves of the deep sea dash against the shore and increase in size.
அயலே தாது அவிழ் புன்னை தயங்கும் மலர்ச் சிறைவண்டு அறை எழில்பொழில் தருமபுரம் பதியே
his place is Tarumapuram which has beautiful gardens where the bees with wings hum noisily in the shining flowers of the mast-wood tree which shed their pollen in the neighbourhood.

adorns with a crescent which crawls in the sky, when the sacred thread is rolling over his broad chest on which white sacred ash is smeared.

has a chaplet of white crescent of bright rays by the side of the frontal eye.
கழிந்தவர் இழிந்திடும் முடைதலைகலனாப்பெண் உற நின்றவர்
has as a half a lady, having as the begging bowl a skull of those who are dead and gone, and has a stench of flesh and has dropped down.
தம் உருவம் அயன்மால் தொழ(வ்) அரிவையைப் பிணைந்து இணைந்து அணைந்ததும் பிரியார்
when Ayaṉ and Māl were worshipping his form, he would not be part from the act of embracing, being united with, and loving, a lady.

கார் உற நின்று அலரும் மலர்க்கொன்றை அம் கண்ணியர்
wears a chaplet of koṉṟai flowers which blossoms profusely in winter
கடு(வ்)விடை கொடிவெடிகொள்காடு உறை பதியர்
has a flag of a bull of rapid gait and dwells in the cremation ground having fissures.
பார் உறவின் உலகம் பரவப்படுவோர் அவர்
he is praised much by the people of this earth and the celestials in heaven.
படுதலைப் பலிகொளல் பரிபவம் நினையார்
does not think of the contempt of receiving alms in a dead skull

Civaṉ placed with joy as one half a young lady with tresses of hair wearing garlands, soft breasts which swells when embraced and wearing the shining curved strands of pearls knit together, and beauty-spots and has a beautiful waist like a creeper, red lips and bright eyes resembling those of a kind of deer known as māḻai;

his place is Tarumapuram where the flocks of birds sleep at midnight in the sea-shore garden where fragrant screw-pine and fetid cassia tress are growing tall from which honey flows when the large swarms of bees beat the flowers with their soft wings, humming all the while the seven notes of music, to make even the yāḻ to feel bashful.

Civaṉ has a dress of a skin, concealing a skull, ancient water, dense koṉṟai flowers, white crescent of crowded light in the pure red caṭai.
காமரு தண்கழி நீடிய கானலகண்டகம் கடல்(ல்) அடைகழி இழிய முண்டகத்து அயலே
by the side of the indian night shade, the white longflowered nail-dye which grows in plenty in the shore-gardens where the backwater is cool and pleasing to look at, bends down into the backwater which is adjacent to the sea.

Tarumapuram which has crowded fields from which the fragrance of red-indian-water lily of spreds, and deep pools where lotus and blue nelumbo flowers are growing together.

Māl who has a discus with many sharp points and Piramaṉ who is seated in a lotus of inner petals, could not find out the nature of his feet and head.

Civaṉ who smears himself with the ash in the cremation ground, who is red in colour, who is happily hailed as the true fruit of the penance performed by the devotees, poets, and people who do penance to end the cycle of birth and death, who possesses an indestructible nature, though the buddhists and the camaṇar, who carry a network of ropes for placing water-pots suspended by a cord from the hand and who smear their bodies with that gall-nut powder, all sorts of lies about him

is not separated from embracing the two breasts which are close to each other and which are adorned with yellow spots, of eminent Umai, the daughter of the mountain, whose teeth are white as pearls.

Tarumapuram which has big gardens which are beaten by the tides of the big ocean which pushes the group of streams which leap.

with the aid of the verses of refined Tamiḻ of Ñāṉacampantaṉ who is a native of Pukali to which no other city can be compared, where wealth is flourishing, and water is dashing against the banks, and where many festivals are conducted and surrounded by tall and beautiful mansions.
பின்நெடுவார் சடையில் பிறையும் அரவும்(ம்) உடையவன் பிணைதுணைகழல்கள் பேணுதல் உரியார்
those who have the right cherish with love the two feet, which are worthy of love, of Civaṉ who has a cobra and a crescent in his very long and twisted caṭai.
இன்நெடு நன்னுலகு எய்துவர்
will reach heaven which is sweet and contains enjoyable things.
எய்திய போகமும் உறுவர்கள்(ள்); இடர் பிணிதுயர் அணை(வ்)வு இலர்
will not have afflictions, diseases and sorrows, but will enjoy all the pleasures too.
