{$} நடைமருதிரிபுரம் எரிஉண நகைசெய்த படைமருதழல் எழ மழுவலபகவன்
Pakavaṉ (Civaṉ) who is capable of wielding the battle-axe to issue fire, being his weapon and who smiled to make the fire consume the three cities which were mobile.
புடைமருது இளமுகில் வளம் அமர் பொதுளிய இடைமருது அடைய நம் இடர்கெடல் எளிதே
it is easy for our sufferings to be destroyed when we reach Iṭaimarutu where on the arjuna trees found in the sides the abundance of forming clouds settles, are growing densely.

along with the crescent that creeps through the cloud.
அழிதலை
a skull without flesh.
மடமஞ்ஞை கழை நுழை புனல்பெய்த கமழ்சடைமுடியன்
Civaṉ who has a fragrant caṭai coiled into a crown, into which is poured the water, into which the young peacocks creep through the bamboos.
குழை நுழை திகழ் செவி அழகொடு மிளிர்வது ஓர்இழை புரிஅணல் இடம் இடைமருதே
Iṭaimarutu is the place of the chief (Civaṉ) who wears minute strands of sacred thread which is prominent with the beauty of the ear where the men's kuṇṭalam is shining passing through it.

Civaṉ is difficult to be approached by people who are not devotees.
எளியன்
and is at the same time easy of access to devotees.
அழல்விடம் மிடறினன்
has in his neck a hot poison.
கருமையின் ஒளிபெறு கமழ்சடை முடியன்
has a caṭai coiled into a crown which is fragrant and bright due its excellence.

is smaller than the smallest thing.

Civaṉ always dances in the cremation ground where the foxes are thriving and which have on their sides well dried spurge which stick to their backs and which are blackened by fire.

the god who is united with a lady who has big and beautiful breasts and who is the daughter of the mountain and who has a gait like that of a young peacock which walks spreading its feathers;

Iṭaimarutu is the place whose great and good fame increases and the fertile city where Civaṉ who shot an arrow on the forts which were well-trained in warfare, dwells.

{$} கலையுடை விரிதுகில் அகில்புகை கமழ்குழல் மலையுடை மடமகள் தனைஇடம் உடையோன்
Civaṉ who has on his left side the young daughter of the mountain, who has fragrant tresses of hair which are perfumed with the incense of eagle-wood tree and wears a broad cloth which is artistic.
விலை உடை அணிகலன் இலன் என
for the common folk to say that he has no valuable ornaments.
மழுவினோடு இலைஉடைபடையவன் இடம் இடைமருது
Iṭaimarutu is the place of Civaṉ who has a trident of three blades resembling leaves and a battle-axe.

{$} வளம் என வளர்வன வரிமுரல் பறவைகள்
the beetles that hum musical melodies and increase in numbers thinking it to be a fertile place.
இளமணல் அணைகரை இசை செயும் இடைமருது
Iṭaimarutu where the fine sand fits in the bank of the dams.
உளம் என நினைபவர்
and which is thought of as their minds.
ஒலிகழல் இணை அடி குளம் அணல் உறமூழ்கி வழிபடல் குணமே
it is good nature to worship (Iṭaimarutu), by plunging, into water upto the neck in the tanks, the feet of god which wear sounding male's armour.

உலகவன்
is the world.
மதியவன்
is the intellect.
மதிபுல்கு துறையவன் எனவல அடியவர் துயர் இலர்
those devotees have no sufferings who speak of him as the ghat to which the crescent is attached.
மிடறு அதுகறையவன்
has a black neck.
கனல்செய்த கமழ்சடை இறையவன் உறைதரும் இடம் இடைமருது
Iṭaimarutu is the place of the Lord who has a fragrant caṭai which is like the fire,

Māl who, in the incarnation of Kaṇṇaṉ, crawled with a morter, and Piraman.
இருது உடை அகலமொடு இகலினர்
who were opposing each other for a space of two months.
இ(ன்)னது எனக் கருதிடல் அரியது ஓர் உருவொடு
assuming the form of a fire which could not be determined, this is his form.
பெரியது ஓர் எருது உடை அடிகள்தம் இடம் இடைமருது
Iṭaimarutu is the place of our Civaṉ who has a big bull.

{$} துவர் உறுவிரிதுகில் உடையரும் அமணரும் அவர் உறுசிறு சொலை நயவன்மின்
(People of the world!) Do not esteem the mean words of the amaṇar and buddhists who dress in a big cloth soaked in the myrtle-dye.
கவர் உறுபுனல் இடைமருது கைதொழுது எழுமவர் உறுவினைகெடல் அணுகுதல் குணமே
it is natural for the big Karmams of those who wake up from sleep worshipping with joined hands Iṭaimarutu which has relishable water, to begin to be destroyed.

{$} தடம்மலி புகலியர் தமிழ்கெழுவிரகினன்
(Ñāṉacampantaṉ) who is an expert in Tamiḻ among people of Pukali which has many holy tanks.
இடம்மலி பொழில் இடைமருதினை இசை செய்த படம் மலிதமிழ் இவை பரவ வல்லவர் வினைகெட
the Karmams of those who can praise Civaṉ with the help of the tamiḻ verses which are like pictures and which were sung on Iṭaimarutu which has gardens of extensive area.
மலிபுகழொடு கிளர் ஒளியினரே
will have distinguishing celebrity along with fame spread far and wide

புகழ் the fame that exists even after one is dead;]]
