{$} எரியின் மூழ்க முப்புரம் எரித்தவன்
Civaṉ burnt the three cities to be engulfed by fire.
தாழ்சடைமேல் கங்கையைத் தரித்தவன்
bore Kaṅkai on his hanging caṭai.
வேதங்கள் விரித்தவன் வேறுவேறு தெரித்தவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the dwelling shring where Civaṉ who gave out the meanings of the vētams separately and spread them, dwells.

{$} உலகுக்குத் தாய் அவன்
Civaṉ is the mother to all living beings in this world.
தன் ஒப்பு இல்லாத் தூயவன்
is the holy person who has no equal.
தூமதிசூடி எல்லாம் ஆயவன்
pervades all things, staying in them; wears a spotless crescent?
அமரர்க்கும் முனிவர்கட்கும் சேயவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine, where he, who is far away from the immortals and the sages, dwells.

{$} காமனைப் பண்பு அழியப் பார்த்தவன்
Civaṉ fixed his gaze on Kāmaṉ to destroy his beauty.
போதகத்தின்(ன்) உரிவை போர்த்தவன்
covered himself with the skin of an elephant.
ஆர்த்தவன் நான்முகன் தலையை அன்று சேர்த்தவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine where Civaṉ who attached to his hand the skull of nāṉmukan (Piramaṉ) who roared.

{$} கொய்த அம்மலரடி கூடுவார்தம்மை தவழ் திருமகள் வணங்க வைத்து
placing the goddess of wealth who is always transcient to pay homage to those who approach the feet of Civaṉ which are like flowers plucked fresh.
பெருமழை பெய்தவன் உலகம் உய்யச் செய்தவன்
who caused heavy down pour of rain and thereby saved the world from drought.
உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
the shrine where he dwells is tiruvallam.

{$} சார்ந்தவர்க்கு இன்பங்கள் தழைக்கும் வண்ணம் நேர்ந்தவன் நேரிழையோடும்
Civaṉ is united with a lady who wears appropriate jewels, in order that many kinds of pleasure may become abundant to those who approached him.
கூடித் தேர்ந்தவர் தேடுவார் தேடச் செய்தே சேர்ந்தவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine where Civaṉ joined those who combined among themselves and searched for him, dwells.

{$} பதைத்து எழு காலனைப் பாதம் ஒண்றால் உதைத்து
kicking with one foot the Kālaṉ (god of death) who rose anxiously to take away the life of mārkkaṇṭeyaṉ.
மாமுனிக்கு உண்மை(1) நின்று
and standing before the great sage as the embodiment of truth.
(2) விதிர்த்து ஏழு தக்கன்தன் வேள்வி அன்று சிதைத்தவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine where Civaṉ who destroyed in the distant past the sacrifice performed by takkaṉ who strted trembling with fear.

{$} நிகழ்ந்து அருவரையினை எடுக்கல் உற்று ஆங்கு, அகழ்ந்த வல் அரக்கனை அடர்த்த பாதம் நிகழ்ந்தவர் நேடுவார் நேடச் செய்தே, திகழ்ந்தவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine where the eminent Civaṉ whose feet the devotees saw as true objects to search for them engaging themselves in that task, which feet pressed firmly the strong arakkaṉ who wanted to uproot the mountain lifting it thinking slight of it.

Civaṉ has greatness.
சிறியவர் சிந்தை செய்ய அரியவன்
is very difficult to be meditated upon by people of little minds.
அருமறை அங்கம் ஆனான்
is himself the abstruse vētams and the six anṅkams.
கரியவன், நான்முகன் காண ஒண்ணாத்(1) தெரியவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine where Civaṉ who is visible to souls without self-conceit but could not be seen by the black Māl and Piramaṉ of four faces; dwells.

{$} அன்றிய அமணர்கள் சாக்கியர்கள் குன்றிய அறவுரை கூறா வண்ணம் வென்றவன் புலன் ஐந்தும்
Civaṉ who subdued all the five organs of sense so that the hating amaṇar and cākkiyar (buddhists) whose teachings are lacking in moral perfection may not talk anything.
விளங்க எங்கும் சென்றவன் உறைவிடம் திருவல்லமே
tiruvallam is the shrine where Civaṉ who pervaded everywhere conspecuously, dwells.

{$} கற்றவர் திருவல்லம் கண்டு சென்று
visiting tiruvallam where learned scholars live and visiting that shrine.
நல்தமிழ் ஞானசம்பந்தன் சொன்ன குற்றம் இல் செந்தமிழ் கூறவல்லார்
those who are able to recite the refined verses of tamiḻ composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ possessing knowledge of refined Tamiḻ, which are faultless.
பற்றுவர் ஈசன் பொற்பாதங்களே
will catch hold of the feet as valuable as gold; as their support.
