Civaṉ wears a woman's ear-ring in the left ear.
(ஒருகாதில்) தூய குழைதாழ ஏடு உடையான்
wears flowers whjen the spotless mens' ear-ring hangs in the right ear.
தலைகலனாக இரந்து உண்ணும் நாடு உடையான்
has a country in which he can beg alms in a bowl of a skull, and eats.
நள்ளிருளில் ஏம நடம் ஆடும் காடு உடையான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே
Kaḻukkuṉṟu is the temple to which he who has a cremation ground in which he performs at midnight, dance affording protection is warmly attached.

is capable of breaking the white tusk of the hog and adorns it on his chest;

பெண்மகள் தன்னை ஒருபாகம் காணவல்லான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே

{$} தேன் அகத்து ஆர் வண்டு (அது) உண்ட திகழ் கொன்றைதான் நகத்தார் தண்மதி சூடித் தலைமேல்
wearing on the head a cool crescent and a garland of shining blossomed koṉṟai from which bees drank the honey sitting inside the flower.
ஓர் வானகத்தோர் வையகத்தோர்கள் தொழுது ஏத்தும் கானகத்தான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே
Kaḻukkuṉṟu is the temple to which of Civaṉ who dwells in the cremation ground, who is praised with joined hands by the celestials who always think of him and the people of this world, is warmly attached.

{$} தூய வண்டு யாழ் சுடர்க்கொன்றை துணையல் செய்தான்
Civaṉ wears a garland of shining koṉṟai on which spotless bees hum like the music of yāl, knitting them into two.
பெண்ணில் நல்லாளை ஒருபாகம் பிணையல் செய்தான்
was united on one half with a lady of good nature.
இணையல் செய்யா இலங்கு எயில் மூன்றும் எரி உண்ணக் கணையல் செய்தான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே
Kaḻukkuṉṟu is the temple to which Civaṉ who discharged an arrow on all the three glittering forts which were not friendly, to be consumed by fire, is warmly attached.

{$} பை உடைய பாம்பொடு நீறு பயில்கின்ற மெய் உடையான்
Civaṉ has on his body sacred ash along with a cobra with hood, both united in him.
வெண்பிறை சூடி விரிகொன்றை மைஉடை மாமிடற்று அண்ணல்
the chief who has a black neck the blackness of which is increasing, and wears a white crescent and blossomed koṉṟai;

thinking the hearts of humble devotees who praises the feet wearing sounding Kaḻal of Civaṉ who can receive on his spread out caṭai all the flood of Kaṅkai and blossomed koṉṟai.
நின்று அங்கே உடன் ஆடும் கள்ளம் வல்லான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே
Kaḻukkuṉṟu is the temple to which Civaṉ the chief who moves remaining in the hearts is warmly attached.

Civaṉ inflicted pain firing his toe firmly in an instant under the mountain which could not be uprooted.
போதல் செய்தான் ஆதல் செய்தான்
he allowed him to go away from mountain and granted him boons.
பெண்மகள் தன்னொடு ஒருபாகம் காதல் செய்தான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே

தூமதி சூடி வரையார்தம் மடந்தை பெம்மான்
the god who is the husband of the daughter of the mountain and who wears a spotless crescent.
வார்கழல் ஓச்சி காலனைக் கடந்த பெம்மான் காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே
Kaḻukkuṉṟu is the temple to which the god who gained a victory our Kālaṉ (god of death) by raising the long leg to strike and kick him, is warmly attached.

{$} திரிபுரம் தேய நின்றான்
Civaṉ stood on the chariot to destroy the three cities!
கங்கை சடைமேல் பாய நின்றான்
stood when the Kaṅkai flowed swiftly on his caṭai.
பலர் புகழ்ந்து ஏத்த உலகு எல்லாம் சாய நின்றான்
stood when all the worlds were perishing many people to praise his fame, when all things are absorbed into him.
வன் சமண் குண்டர் (1) சாக்கீயர்
the low and strong amanar and cākkiyar (சாக்கீயர்-சாக்கீயர் the lengthening of the letter is for metre)
காய நின்றான்
remains to be heated by them.
காதல் செய் கோயில் கழுக்குன்றே
