{$} காடு பேணிநின்று ஆடும் மருதன்
Civaṉ, who is under the tree marutu (arjuna tree) and dances in the cremation ground desiring it.
தோடு ஓர் காதினன்
wears a woman's ear-ring in one ear.
பாடும் மறையினன்
chants vetam with music.

{$} கருதார்புரம் எய்வர்
Civaṉ will shoot an arrow on the cities of enemies.
எருதே இனிது ஊர்வர்
will ride on a bull with joy.
மருதே இடம் ஆகும்
arjuna tree is his place.
விருது ஆம்வினை தீர்ப்பு
destruction of Karmams of devotees is his badge of victory.

{$} எண்ணும் அடியார்கள்
devotees who meditate upon.
அண்ணல் மருதரைப் பண்ணின் மொழிசொல்ல
and if they praise with words of music eminent marutar.
விண்ணும் தமது ஆம்
even the heaven will become theirs.

{$} விரிஆர் சடைமேனி எரிஆர் மருதரைத்தரியாது ஏத்துவார்
those who praise Civaṉ under the arjuna tree, who has a spreading caṭai and a body like fire, without stopping even for a minute.
உலகிலே பெரியார்
are great men in this world.

{$} பந்த விடை ஏறும் எந்தை மருதரைச் சிந்தை செய்பவர் புந்தி நல்லரே
those who think of our father, marutar who rides upon a bull made ready for riding, have good minds.

{$} கழலும் சிலம்பு(உம்) ஆர்க்கும் எழில்ஆர் மருதரைத் தொழலே பேணுவார்க்கு அழலும்வினை போம்
the afflicting Karmams will leave those who desire worshipping the highly beautiful marutar who has on one leg a warrior's armour and on the other leg an anklet both of which make a big sound.

{$} பிறை ஆர் சடை அண்ணல்
the eminent one who has a crescent on his caṭai.
மறைஆர் மருதரை
Civaṉ under the marutu tree who revealed the vētams.
நிறையால் நினைபவர்
those who think of him by concentration.
இன்பம் குறையார்
will not be deficient in happiness.

{$} எடுத்தான் புயம் தன்னை அடுத்தார் மருதரை தொடுத்து ஆர் மலர் சூட்ட
to adorn Civaṉ under the marutu tree who pressed down the shoulders of the (arakkaṉ) who lifted (the mountain Kayilai), with garlands knitted with flowers.
விடுத்தார் வேட்கையே
gave up all kinds of attachments.

{$} இருவர்க்கு எரிஆய உருவ மருதரைப் பரவி ஏத்துவார்
those who praise in the 2nd person and the 3rd person marutar who had the form of fire not to be found by the two persons (Māl and Piramaṉ)
மருவிவாழ்வாரே
will live getting all good things.

{$} நின்று உண்சமண் தேரர் என்றும் மருதரைஅன்றி உரைசொல்ல நன்றுமொழியாரே
the camaṇar who eat their food standing and tēvar (buddhists) speak always inimical words about marutar; do not speak good words.

{$} மருதர் அடிபாடிக் கருது சம்பந்தன் தமிழ்பெரிதும் சொல்லப் பொருதவினைபோமே
the Karmams which were inimical to us will leave us if we recite often the Tamil verses of Campantaṉ who fixes his thoughts on Marutar singing the glory of his feet.
