முடிமேல் அரவமும் மதியமும் விரவிய அழகர்
Has the beauty of cobra and crescent living united on his head.
மயில் அன சாயல வனமுலை ஒருபால் மகிழ்பவர்
rejoices in having on one side a lady who has the tenderness of a peacock and beautiful breasts.
வானிடை முகில்புல்கு மிடறர்
has a neck as black as the cloud in the sky.
பயில்வுறு சரிதையர்
he is always practising good conduct.
(1) எருது உகந்து ஏறிப் பாடியும் ஆடியும் பலிகொள்வர்
he will receive alms riding rejoicingly on a bull, singing and dancing.
வலிசேர் கயிலையும் பொதியிலும் இடம் என உடையார் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we think of Kaḻumalam which is the abode of the god who has strong Kayilai and Potiyil as his places.

God who has a beautiful neck resembling the sable cloud and blue nelumbo flower.
கொடுமுடி உறைபவர்

படுதலைக்கையர்
holds in his hand a skull which is without life.
பண்டு அலர் அயன் சிரம் அரிந்தவர்
he cut off the head of Ayaṉ in the lotus flower, in the distant past.
படர்சடை அடிகளார் பொருந்தும் பதி
the place where the deity who has a spreading matted hair, resides.

வண்டலும் வங்கமும் சங்கமும் சுறவும் மறிதிரை கடல் கொணர்ந்து எற்றிய கரைமேல்

when god is formless in the mind he is one
உருவம் இரண்டினர்
when he assumes a form he has the two forms of Civaṉ and cakti.
எரிஇடைமூன்றினர்
he is the subtle elements of sound, touch and form in the fire
[[This may mean this way also: he is the three sacrificial fires; ākavaṉīyam, kārukapattiyan and takshiṇakkini.]]
மண்ணிடை ஐந்தினர்
he is the five subtle elements of sound, touch form, taste and odour.
அங்கம் ஆறினர்
he is the six aṅkam of the vētam.
ஏழிசை வகுத்தனர்
he created the seven notes.
எட்டு இருங்கலைசேர் பண்ணிடை ஒன்பதும் உணர்ந்தவர்
He has knowledge of the nine things in melodies which are united with eight kinds of arts.

பத்தர்பாடி நின்று அடிதொழ மதனனை வெகுண்ட கண்ணிடைக் கனலினர் கருதிய கோயில் கழுமலம் நினைய
if we meditate upon Kaḻumalam of the god who burnt, out of anger, with the fire in the frontal eye mataṉaṉ (cupid) for the devotees to worship his feet, singing his praise.
நம் வினைகரிசு அறும்

he has fire on one hand.
இமையவர்க்கு இறைவர்
he is the master of the tēvar-s who do not wink.
ஏறு உகந்து ஏறுவர்
he rides on a bull with joy.
நீறு மெயபூசித்திரிதரும் இயல்பினர்
has the nature of wandering besmearing his person with the sacred ash.
அயலவர் புரங்கள் தீ எழ விழித்தனர்
he opened his frontal eye to set fire to the cities of the enemies.
வேய் புரை தோளி, வரிதரு கண்இணை, மடவால் அஞ்ச மஞ்சு உற நிமிர்ந்ததோர் வடிவொடும் வந்த கரி உரி மருவிய அடிகளுக்கு இடமாம் கழுமலம் நினைய
if we meditate upon Kaḻumalam, the abode of the god who covers his person with the skin of an elephant which came upon him with a tall form so as to reach the sky, to frighten the lady who had shoulders like bamboos, and two eyes with lines in them.

{$} ஊர் எதிர்ந்து இடுபலிதலைகலன் ஆக உண்பவர்
he who eats the alms which is given welcomed by the people of the villages, using the skull as the eating plate.
விண்பொலிந்து இலங்கிய உருவர்
has a brilliant form which is as extensive as the sky.
பார் எதிர்ந்து அடிதொழ விரைதரு மார்பில் படஅரவு ஆமை அக்கு அணிந்தவர்க்கு இடம் ஆம் (கழுமலம்)
Kaḻumalam which is the abode of the god who adorned himself with chank beads, the shell of the tortoise, a hooded cobra in the fragrant chest, to make the people of this world to worship his feet, submitting to them.

நீர் எதிர்ந்து இழி மணி நித்தில முத்தம் நிரை (1) சுரி சங்கமொடு ஒண்மணி வரன்றி
Having scraped off lustrous precious stones along with spiralling conches of several rows with pearls inside them, and pearls which descend down floating upon the water.
கார் எதிர்ந்து ஓதம் வன்திரை கரைக்கு எற்றும் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we meditate upon Kaḻumalam where the strong waves of the sea which has on it clouds, dashes upon the shore.

உயிர்த்தோற்றமும் இறுதியும் ஆகி
having become the cause for the creation which unites the souls with the bodies and the end which separates them.
முடிஉடை(ய) அமரர்கள் அடிபணிந்து ஏத்த
to be worshipped by the immortals wearing crowns.
பின்னிய சடைமிசைப் பிறை நிறைவித்த பேரருளாளனார் பேணிய கோயில்
the temple desired by the god of abundant grace who made the crescent on his entwined matted hair, to become full in size.
பொன் இயல் நறுமலர் புனலொடு தூபம் சாந்தமும் ஏந்திய கையினர் ஆகி
holding in their hands yellow fragrant flowers like gold, water, incense and sandal-paste.
கன்னியர் நாள் தொறும் வேடமே பரவும் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we meditate upon Kaḻumalam where unmarried girls daily worship the form of the god.

{$} கொலைக்கு அணித்தா வருகூற்று உதை செய்தார்
God kicked the god of death who came just before impending death (to take the life of mārkaṇtēyaṉ)
குரை கழல் பணிந்தவர்க்கு அருளிய பொருளின் நிலைக்கு அணித்தாவர நினைய வல்லார்க்கு
for those who are able to think of the stage when he grants it to those who bow before his feet wearing tinkling anklets.
நெடுந்துயர் தவிர்த்த எம் நிமலருக்கு இடமாம்
the place which is the abode of our spotless god who removed big sufferings.
மலைக்கு அணித்தாவர வன்திரை முரல
when the strong waves roar by coming near the artificial hillock which is called tōṇipuram.
மதுவிரி புன்னைகள் முத்து என அரும்ப
when the mastwood trees which open their honey, put forth buds like pearls.
கலைக்கணம் கானலின் நிழலில் வாழும் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we meditate upon Kaḻumalam where the herds of stags live under the shade of the sea-side grove.

{$} புயம் பல உடைய தென் இலங்கையர் வேந்தன் பொருவரை எடுத்தவன் பொன்முடி திண்தோள்
the strong shoulders and golden crowns of the King of southern Ilaṇkai who had twenty shoulders and who lifted up the mountain which is compared to other mountains.
பயம்பலபட அடர்த்தருளிய பெருமான் பரிவொடும் இனிது உறைகோயில் அது ஆகும் (கழுமலம்)
Kaḻumalam which is the temple where the god pressed down to be frightened in many ways, resides with desire favourably.
வியன் பல விண்ணினும் மண்ணினும் எங்கும் வேறுவேறு உகங்களில் பெயர் உளது என்ன
well known as having many names in very many different aeons, everywhere in the earthern worlds and many extensive heaven.

கயம்பல படக் (1) கடற்றிரை கரைக்கு எற்றும் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we meditate upon Kaḻumalam where the waves of the sea dash against the shore to form many pools.

{$} விலங்கல் ஒன்று ஏந்தி வன்மழை தடுத்தோனும்
Māl who averted destruction from torrential rains by uprooting and holding a mountain
[[This is a story of Bhāgavatam; the mountain is called Ghōvardhanam.]]
வெறிகமழ் தாமரையோனும்
and Piramaṉ seated in the lotus which spreads its fragrance.
என்று இவர் தம் பலங்களால் நேடியும் அறிவு அரிதாய பரிசினன் மருவி நின்று இனிது உறை கோயில்
the temple in which the god whose nature was difficult to be found out by both of them though they tried to do so by their physical strength.
மலங்கி வன்திரை வரை எனப் பரந்து எங்கும் மறிகடல் ஓங்கி
floating on the rolling sea which has strong waves spreading everywhere like mountain, having been made turbid.
வெள் இப்பியும் சுமந்து
carrying white oysters also.
கலங்கள் தன் சரக்கொடு நிரக்க வந்து ஏறும் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we meditate upon Kaḻumalam where ships enter in a row with their merchandise.

{$} ஆம் பல தவம் முயன்று அறவுரை சொல்லும் அமணரும்
the amaṇar who preach religious instruction having tried to do penance according to their ability.
தேரரும் கணிசேர் நோம்பல தவம் அறியாதவர் நொடிந்த மூதுரை கொள்கிலா முதல்வர்
the cause of all things who does not regard the old sayings of those who do not know the penance of physical and mental strains of the tērar which should be reckoned with
தம் மேனிச் சாம்பலும் பூசி வெண்தலை கலனாகத்தையலார் இடுபலி வையகத்து ஏற்று
receiving in the world the alms placed by ladies, carrying the white skull as the begging-bowl, and having besmeared his form with sacred ash.
காம்பு அன தோளியொடு இனிது உறைகோயில் கழுமலம் நினைய
when we meditate upon Kaḻumalam where he dwells happily with a lady having shoulders like bamboo.
நம்வினை கரிசு அறும்
our sins and blemishes will become extinct.

{$} கலிகெழுபாரிடை ஊர் என உளதாம் கழுமலம் விரும்பிய கோயில் கொண்டவர்மேல்
on the god who resides in the temple desired by him in Kaḻumalam which exists without destruction to be praised as the important place in this world of great bustle.
வலி கெழுமனம் மிகவைத்தவன்
he who fixed his resolute mind.
மறைசேர் கலைவரும் ஞானசம்பந்தன் தமிழன் ஒலிகெழு மாலையென்று உரைசெய்த பத்தும்
all the ten verses which are associated with music, composed by ñāṉacampantaṉ who is an adept in the arts and maṟai.
உண்மையினால் நினைந்து ஏத்தவல்லார்மேல் மெலிகெழு துயர் அடையா
sufferings which are the cause for the enfeebling of mind and body, will not approach those who can bestow thoughts on them and are able to praise god with sincerity.
வினை சிந்தும்
the sins will be destroyed.
விண்ணவர் ஆற்றலின் மிகப் பெறுவார்
will acquire powers superior to those of the celestials.
