{$} வரி வளர் அவிர் ஒளி அரவு அரை தாழ
the cobra with shining brightness lines on its body to hang low.
வார்சடை முடிமிசை வளர்மதி சூடி
wearing a waxing crescent on the long caṭai coiled into a crown.
கரிவளர் தருகழல் கால்வலன் ஏந்தி
raising the right leg which wears a Kaḻal on which the form of an elephant is embossed.
கனல் எரி ஆடுவார் காடு அரங்காக
will dance in the burning fire; having the cremation ground as the stage.
விரிவளர் தருபொழில் இளமயில் ஆல
when the young peacocks dance in the gardens which are expanding and growing.
வெள் நிறத்து அருவிகள் திண்ணென வீழும் எரி வளர் இனம் மணிபுனம் அணிசாரல் இடைச்சுரம் மேவிய இவர்வணம் என்னே
How wonderful is the colour of this god who is in iṭaiccuram which has slopes which are made beautiful by millet farms which abound in heaps of gems which are like fire; and from which streams fall with a vibrating sound.

{$} ஆற்றையும் ஏற்றது ஓர் அவிர்சடை உடையவர்
Civaṉ has a glittering caṭai on which be received even the river which descended with a roaring noise.
அழகினை அருளுவார்
will grant beauty to his devotees.
குழகு அலது அறியார்
does not know anything except youthfulness.
கூற்று உயிர் செகுப்பது ஒர் கொடுமையை உடையவர்
has the cruel nature of taking away the life of the god of death.
நடு இருள் ஆடுவர்
will dance at dead of night.
கொன்றை அம்தாரர்
wears a garland of koṉṟai.
சேற்று அயல் மிளர்வன கயல் இளவானை செருச் செய ஓர்ப்பன செம்முகமந்தி
the red-faced female monkeys watch keenly the fight between carps which leap and young scarbard fish near the mire.
ஒற்றையோடு உழிதரும் எழில் திகழ் சாரல்
having slopes in which beauty is eminent, where they wander with their males.
இடைச்சுரம் மேவிய இவர்வணம் என்னே

{$} கானமும் சுடலையும் கற்படு நிலனும் காதலர்
Civaṉ is attached towards forest, cremation ground and mountains.
தீதுஇலர்
has no defects.
கனல் மழுவாளர்
has a red hot iron which is burning.
வானமும் நிலமையும் இருமையும் ஆனார்
he has the nature of both the things of heaven and this earth
[[see line 2 of verse 4]]
நானமும் புகைஒளி விரையொடு கமழ
is worshipped with musk and incense which spread their fragrance with other fragrant things and light.
வணங்கவும் இணங்கவும் வாழ்த்தவும் படுவர்
He is paid obeisance, is befriended and is praised by songs of benediction.
நளிர் பொழில் இளமஞ்ஞை மன்னிய பாங்கர்
by the side of the cool gardens where young peacocks stay permanently.
ஏனமும் பிணையலும் எழில்திகழ் சாரல்
in the slopes which are shining by the wild and its female.

{$} கடம் மணி மார்பினர்
Civaṉ wears on his chest a gem produced in the mountain side.
கடல் தனில் உறைவார்
will dwell in the sea.
காதலர்
has love towards his devotees.
தீது இலர்
has no defects.
கனல் மழுவாளர்
has a red hot iron which is burning

விடம் அணி மிடற்றினர்
has a neck made beautiful by the poison;
[[PP_EXT: கறை மிடறு அணியலும் அணிந்தன்று
(Puṟam, 1-5)]]
மிளிர்வது ஓர் அரவர்
has a cobra that glitters.
வேறும் ஓர் சரிதையர்
his conduct is different from accepted code.
வேடமும் உடையர்
has also forms appropriate to them.

வடம் மு(ல்)லை அயலன கருங்குருந்து ஏறி
the arabian jasmine which can be knot into stands of garlands climbs upon the black wild-lime fruit tree;

வாழையின் தீங்கனி வார்ந்து தேன் அட்டும் இடம் முலை அரிவையர் எழில் திகழ் சாரலை
having slopes of eminent beauty where ladies of large breasts gather and collect the honey which flows from the sweet fruits of plaintain trees.

{$} கார்கொண்ட கடிகமழ் விரிமலர்க் கொன்றைக் கண்ணியர்
Civaṉ wears a chaplet of blossomed koṉṟai flowers which spread their fragrance in the appropriate season of winter.
வளர்மதி கதிர்விட
when the crescent emits rays.
கங்கை நீர் கொண்ட சடையினர்
has on his caṭai water of Kaṅkai which he received.
விடை உயர் கொடியர்
has a flag of a bull held aloft.
நிழல் திகழ் மழுவினர்
has a battle axe of shining brightness.
அழல் திகழ் நிறத்தர்
has a colour shining like the fire.
சீர் கொண்ட மென்சிறை வண்டு பண் செய்யும் செழும் புனல் அனையன செங்குலை வாழை ஏர் கொண்ட பலவினொடு எழில் திகழ் சாரல்
having slopes of shining beauty on which the plaintain trees which have red clusters of fruits like the fertile red-coloured water along with tall jack-fruit trees on which the bees of soft and graceful wings hum like melody-types.

{$} தோடு அணி குழையினர்
Civaṉ wears a womens ear-ring and a mens' ear-ring.
சுண்ண வெண்ணீற்றவர்
smears on his body the white powder of holy ash.
சுடலையின் ஆடுவர்
dances in the cremation ground.
தோல் உடையாகப் பீடு உயர் செய்தது ஓர் பெருமையை உடையர்
has a greatness obtained by the might of having the skin as a dress.
பேயுடன் ஆடுவர்
will dance along with pēy-s.
பெரியவர் பெருமான்
is the Lord of great people.
ஒழுகுவ கோடல்கள் முழுகுவ தும்பி
the superior Variety of bees, tumpi, dive into the long malabar glory lily flowers!
குரவமும் மரவமும் மன்னிய பாங்கர் ஏடு அவிழ் புதுமலர் கடிகமழ் சாரல்
having slopes where fragrance of the fresh flowers which unfold their petals by the side of the places where bottle-flower trees and common cadamba trees are permanent.

{$} கழல் மல்கு காலினர், வேலினர், நூலர் கவர்தலை அரவொடு கண்டியும் பூண்பர்
Civaṉ wears Kaḻal staying permanently in the leg; has a trident; wears a sacred thread; adorns himself with a necklace of uruttirākkan beads also with a cobra of many hoods.
அழல் மல்கு எரியொடும் அணிமழு ஏந்தி ஆடுவர்
will dance holding a red-hot iron with a fire of increasing heat.
பாடுவர் ஆர் அணங்கு உடையர்
will sing having a divine lady in his body.
பொழில் மல்கும் நீடிய அரவமும் மரவம்(உம்) மன்னிய கவட்டிடைப் புணர் குயில் ஆலும் எழில் மல்கு சோலையில் வண்டு இசைப்பாடும்
in the parks which increase in beauty and where the indian cuckoo united with its mate sings in the forked branch which is always there, where the maravam trees and nākam trees flourish in the gardens.
[[அரவம் the synonym of nākam; it means the tree nakam;]]
[[PP: ஒளிதிகழ் உத்தி உருகெழு நாகம் (pāripāṭal, 12-4);]]
[[As it is placed along with மரவம் another tree, it must mean only a tree.]]

{$} தேம் கமழ் கொன்றை அம் திருமலர் புனைவார்
Civaṉ adorns himself with beautiful flowers of koṉṟai in which the fragrance of honey spreads.
திகழ் திரு சடைமிசைத் திங்களும் சூடி
wearing a crescent on the shining caṭai.
வீந்தவர் சுடலை வெண்ணீறு மெய்பூசி
smearing himself with the white ash of the cremation ground where people who have died are cremated.
வேறும் ஓர் சரிதையர் வேடமும் உடையர்

சாந்தமும் அகிலொடு முகில் பொதிந்து அலம்பித் தவழ் கனமணியொடு மிகு பளிங்கு இடறி
striking against crystal quartz bound in large quantity along with heavy gems which crawl, and making a sound, concealing the cloud, sandal-wood tree and eagle-wood trees.
ஏந்து வெள் அருவிகள் எழில் திகழ் சாரல்
having slopes of shining beauty, which have white streams which carry them.

{$} பல இலம் இடுபலி கையில் ஒன்று ஏற்பர்
Civaṉ receives alms in the skull held in the hand, which is given in many houses.
பல புகழ் அல்லது பழி இலர் தாமும்
has fame of many kinds, has no blemish.
தலை இலங்கு அவிர் ஒளி நெடுமுடி அரக்கன் தடக்கைகள் அடர்த்து ஓர் தன்மையை உடையர்
has the nature of pressing down the big hands of the arakkaṉ who has tall crowns which glitter with rays, and shine on the heads.
மலை இலங்கு அருவிகள் மணமுடிவு அதிர
the streams glittering in the hill make a sound like the muḻavu played on occasions of mariage.
மழைதவழ் இளமஞ்ஞை மல்கிய சாரல்
in the slopes where young peacocks are on the increases and clouds seem to crawl.
இலை இலவங்கமும் ஏலமும் கமழும் இடைச்சுரம்
iṭaiccuram where clove-trees with leaves and cardamon spread their fragrance.

{$} பெருமைகள் தருக்கியோர் பேது உறுகின்ற பெருங்கடல் வண்ணனும் பிரமனும் ஓரா அருமையர்
Civaṉ who was difficult to be investigated by Māl who has the colour of the ocean and Piramaṉ who were bewildered, and were proud, conscious of their greatness.
அடிநிழல் பரவிநின்று ஏத்தும் அன்புடை அடியவர்க்கு அணியரும் ஆவர்
is near at hand to the devotees who cherish him with love, praising in the third person and in the 2nd person the shelter of his feet.
கருமை கொள் வடிவொடு சுனைவளர் குவளைக் கயல் இனம் வயல் இற வாளைகள் இரிய
the group of carp fish which are in the blue nelumbo flowers of black from growing in the mountain springs, and the young scabbard fish found in the fields to flee from their places.
எருமைகள் படிதர இளஅனம் ஆலும் இடைச்சுரம்
iṭaiccuram where the young swans make sound when the buffaloes sink in water.

{$} மடைச்சுரம் மறிவன வாளையும் கயலும் மருவிய வயல்தனில் வருபுனல் காழி
born in Kaḻi which has water arriving fresh in fields where the scabbard and carp fish go about often through sluices of fields and have become accustomed to the fields.
சடைச்சுரந்து உறைவது ஓர் பிறை உடை அண்ணல் சரிதைகள் பரவிநின்று உருகு சம்பந்தன்
campantaṉ whose heart melts praising the many acts of the chief who has a crescent residing in the space of the caṭai.
புடைச்சரத்து அருவரைப் பூக்கமழ் சாரல் புணர் மடநடையவர் புடை இடை ஆர்த்த இடைச்சுரம் ஏத்திய இசையொடு பாடல் இவை சொல வல்லவர் பிணிஇலர் (தாம், ஏ)
those who are able to recite these verses with music, which were in praise of Iṭaiccuram which has ladies of gentle gait are on the sides and in the centre, and slopes where flowers of the mountain difficult to climb which has jungles by its sides spread their fragrance, will have no diseases.
