my mind!
(1) நெறிகொள் சிற்றின்பம் துப்பன் என்னாது அருளே துணையாகச் செப்ப ஒப்பர் ஒப்பர்
Civaṉ will give his assent definitely when we enjoy momentary pleasures according to rules prescribed for house-holders without the slightest egoism, when we say, I enjoy them with the aid of his grace

Civaṉ.
ஒளி வெண்ணீற்று அப்பர் சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall reach coṟṟuttuṟai of the father who smears bright and white holy ash, by going there.

{$} பாலும் நெய்யும் தயிரும் பயின்று ஆடி
bathing many times in milk, ghee and curd.
தோலும் நூலும் துதைந்த வரை மார்பர்
Civaṉ who has a chest as strong and broad as the mountain on which the skin of a deer and sacred thread are close together.
மாலும் சோலை புடைசூழ் மடமஞ்ஞை, ஆலும் சோற்றுத் துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall reach by journey coṟṟuttuṟai where young peacocks which are in the gardens, and surrounded on all sides by gardens which confound people.

{$} செய்யர்
Civaṉ who is red in colour.
செய்ய சடையர்
has a ruddy caṭai.
விடை ஊர்வர்
rides on a bull.
கைகொள் வேலர்
holds a trident in his hand.
கழலர்
wears an armour in the leg.
கரிகாடர்
dwells in the charred cremation-ground.
தையலாள் ஓர்பாகமாய எம் ஐயர் சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall reach cōṟṟuttuṟai belonging to our father who has a young lady as one half, by making a journey.

{$} பிணிகொள் ஆக்கை ஒழியப் பிறப்பு உளீர்
wise people who want to derive benefit from this birth in order to be free from this body which is heir to many diseases!
துணிகொள் போர்ஆர் துளங்குமழுவாளர்
Civaṉ who handles the battle-axe which is shaking and which is useful in battle for cutting the bodies of enemies.
மணிகொள் கண்டர் மேய வார் பொழில் அணிகொள் சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we will go and reach cōṟṟuttuṟai which is made beautiful by long gardens and where Civaṉ with a neck like sapphire dwells.

{$} பிறையும் அரவும் புனலும் சடைவைத்து
placing the crescent, cobra and water in the caṭai.
மறையும் ஓதி
Chanting also the vētams.
மயானம் இடமாக உறையும் செல்வம் உடையார் காவிரி அறையும் சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall go and reach cōṟṟuttuṟai where the Kaviri dashes on its banks and which belongs to Civaṉ who has the cremation ground as his dwelling place.

{$} துடிகளோடு முழவம் விம்மவே
when many drums which taper towards the middle, and muḻavu are played on a high pitch.
பொடிகள் பூசி
smearing himself with many kinds of sacred ash.
புறங்காடு அரங்காகப்படிகொள் பாணிபாடல் பயின்றாடும் அடிகள் சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall reach Cōṟṟuttuṟai of the god who dances to the songs and measure of time which can be compared to others, having the cremation ground as the stage.

{$} காலன் மாளச்சாடி
having killed Kālaṉ (god of death) to die.
தலைமாலைசூடி மிக்குச் சுவண்டாய் வருவார் (தாம்)
Civaṉ who appears in the very appropriate form wearing a garland of skulls.

தூநீறு அணியும் சுவண்டர் தாமே (Do. maṟaikkāṭu, tāṅtakam, 6);
சுந்தரராய்த் தூமதியம் சூடுவதும் சுவண்டே (cuntarar, nākaikkāroṇam, 4).]]
பாடி ஆடிப் பரவுவார் உள்ளத்து ஆடி சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall go and reach Cōṟṟuttuṟai of Civaṉ who dances cut of joy in the hearts of those who praise him singing and dancing.

{$} பெண் ஓர்பாகம் உடையார்
Civaṉ has a lady on one half.
பிறைச் சென்னிக்கண் ஓர் பாகம் கலந்த நுதலினார்
has a head on which there is the crescent and a forehead with an eye in one place.
எண்ணாது அரக்கன் எடுக்க ஊன்றிய அண்ணல் சோற்றுத் துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall go and reach Coṟṟuttuṟai of the god who pressed down the arakkaṉ (Irāvaṇaṉ) who lifted (the mountain, Kayilai) thoughtlessly.

{$} தொழுவார் இருவர் துயரம் நீங்கவே
to remove the sorrow of the two, Māl and Piramaṉ who worshipped him casting away their pride.
அழலாய் ஓங்கி அருள்கள் செய்தவன்
Civaṉ bestowed his many kinds of grace by rising high as a column of fire.
விழவு ஆர் மறுகில் விதியால் (1) மிக்க எம்எழில் ஆர் சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall go and reach our Cōṟṟuttuṟai which has streets in which festivals are celebrated and looks very beautiful laid according to the rules in the works on architecture

{$} கோது சாற்றித் திரிவார் அமண் குண்டர் ஓதும் ஓத்தை உணராது ஒழி; நெஞ்சே
my mind! leave without studying the scriptures which the amaṇar who go about dilating upon defects to be known to all, and the low buddhists.

நீதி நின்று நினைவார் வேடம் ஆம் ஆதி சோற்றுத்துறை சென்று அடைவோம்
we shall go and reach Cōṟṟuttuṟai of primordial god who assumes the form on which people who are firm in their righteousness, meditate.

{$} அடியார் ஆயினீர்
You who are devotees?
அந்தண் சோற்றுத்துறை எம் ஆதியைச் சிந்தை செய்மின்
meditate upon the primordial Civaṉ in beautiful and cool Cōṟṟuttuṟai.
சந்தம் பரவு ஞானசம்பந்தன் வந்தவாறே புனைதல் வழிபாடே
the mods of worship for that is to adorn the god with songs composed by Ñāṉacampantaṉ who praises the nature of Civaṉ, which came out of his mouth by god's grace.
