{$} மடையில் வாளை பாய
to cause the scabbard fish to jump in the sluice.
மாதரார் குடையும் பொய்கைக் கோலக்கா உளான்
the god in Kōlakkā where in the tank ladies dive and bathe
சடையும் பிறையும் சாம்பற் பூச்சும் கீள் உடையும் கொண்ட உருவம் என் (கொல்)
what is the reason for assuming the form which has matted hair, crescent, smearing of holy ash and a strip of cloth used as a waist-band for securely tying the loin-cloth.
[[கீளுடை should be the correct reading; as many scribes do not spell and on distinctly the error should have crept in);

{$} பெண் (தான்) பாகம் ஆகப் பிறைச் சென்னி கொண்டான்
the god whose head is adorned by the crescent, having a lady on his half.
பாதம் கையால் கூப்பவே கோலக்காவு கோயிலாக் கண்டான்
He created in Kōlakkāvu a temple for the devotees to worship his feet with joined hands.
உலகம் உய்ய நஞ்சை உண்டான்
He drank the poison to save the world from destruction
[[Drinking of the poison was not to exhibit his valour but it was done out of his great compassion]]

{$} பூண் நற்பொறிகொள் அரவம்
cobra which has beautiful spots in his ornament.
புன் சடை கோணல் பிறையன்
He has a curved crescent on his golden matted hair

குழகன் கோலக்க மாணப்பாடி
singing the fame of Kōlakkā of the perpetual youth, in a worthy manner.
மறைவல்லானையே பேண
to cherish with love the Lord who is capable of chanting the maṟai
பிணிகள் ஆன பறையும்
diseases will vanish.

{$} தழுக்கொள் பாவம் தளரவேண்டுவீர்
People who wish that the sins which were committed intentionally by the soul united with self-conceit, should relase their hold on you!
மழுக்கொள் செல்வன்
the Lord who holds a battle-axe
மறிசேர் அங்கையன்
and who has a young deer in his beautiful hand
குழுக்கொள்பூதப் படையான்
and who has an army of pūtam which surround him.
கோலக்கா இழுக்கா வண்ணம் ஏந்தி வாழ்மினே
you live happily praising Kōlakkā without committing any fault.

{$} மயில் ஆர் சாயல் மாது ஓர் பாகமா
having a lady who has the gracefulness of a peacock, on his half.
எயிலார் சாய எரித்த எந்தை தன் குயிலார் சோலைக் கோலக்காவையே பயிலா நிற்க
if one fixes his thought on Kōlakkā belonging to our father who burnt the acurar of three forts to perish, which has gardens where there are indian cuckoos (Kuyil)
பாவம் பறையும்
sins will vanish
{1:23}__6+
{$} வெடிகொள் வினையை வீட்ட வேண்டுவீர்
you who wish destroy the Karmam which can ruin you !
கடிகொள் கொன்றை கலந்த சென்னியான்
one who wears on his head fragrant koṉṟai flowers.
கொடி கொள் விழவு ஆர் கோலக்காவுள் எம் அடிகள் பாதம் அடைந்து வாழ்மின்
you live happily thinking in your mind the feet of our Lord who is in Kōlakkā where festivals in which flag is hoisted, are always celebrated

{$} நிழல் ஆர் சோலை நீல வண்டு இனம்-குழல் ஆர் பண் செய் கோலக்காவுளான்; கழலால் மொய்த்த பாதம் கைகளால் தொழலார் பக்கல்
near of those who worship with their hands the feet of the Lord which are crowded round by anklets, who is in Kōlakkā where, in the gardens having shades the swans of black bees hum like the music produced in the flute.
துயரம் இல்லை
there will be no sufferings

{$} எறி ஆர்கடல்சூழ் இலங்கைக் கோன்தனை முறி ஆர் தடக்கை அடர்த்த மூர்த்தி தன்
belonging to the god who pressed down the long hands of the king of Ilaṅkai girt by the sea of surging waves, to be fractured
குறி ஆர் பண் செய் கோலக்காவையே நெறியால் தொழுவார் வினைகள் நீங்கும்
the karmams of those who worship in the proper manner Kōlakkā where musicians sing music with seven notes without any error, will leave them of their own accord.

{$} காண்கிலா
one who could not be seen
நாற்றம் மலர் மேல் அயனும்
by Ayaṉ who is seated in the fragrant (lotus) flowers
நாகத்தில் ஆற்றல் அணை மேலவனும்
and Māl, who is lying on the mighty serpent-bed
கூற்றம் உதைத்த குழகன்
the perpetual youth who kicked the god of death.
கோலக்கா ஏற்றான் பாதம் ஏத்தி வாழ்மின்
you live happily by praising the feet of the god who has a bull and dwells in Kōlakkā
{1:23}__10+
{$} குற்றம் நெறியார்
those who follow the wrong ways [[i.e.]]
பெற்ற மாசு பிறக்கும் சமணரும்
camaṇar who fill up the dirt on their bodies which they willingly accumulate, without washing it
உற்ற துவர் தோய் உருவிலாளரும்
and the buddhists who cover their bodies with robes soaked in myrtle dye
கொள்ளார் கோலக்காப் பற்றிப் பரவ
if those who do not pay heed to their teachings, praise Kōlakkā holding it as their refuge.
பாவம் பறையும்
their sins will vanish
{1:23}__11+
{$} குலம் கொள் கோலக்காவுளானையே
praising the god in eminent Kōlakkā
நலம் கொள்காழி ஞானசம்பந்தன்
and composed by Ñāṉacampantaṉ born in Kāḻi having many good things
வலம் கொள் பாடல்வல்ல வாய்மையார்
those truthful people who are able to recite the verses which have the strength of the grace of god.
உலம் கொள் வினைபோய் ஓங்கி வாழ்வர்
will live with increasing prosperity as their Karmas are like the heavy round stone, leave them.
