Civaṉ has a neck which the poison which rose with great fury reached as its refuge.
விடைமிசைவரும் அவன் உறைபதி

is tirumiḻai where brahmins who understood the vētams in the proper manner as they possess steadness of mind in an abundant measure;

Civaṉ granted the discus which served and brought the head of calataraṉ which was like a mountain with speed and had such prowess to harass heaven as well as this earth.
உரை மலிதரு சுரநதி மதிபொதி சடையவன் உறைபதி
the place where Civaṉ who contains in his caṭai the Kaṅkai, by the river of gods and a crescent.
மிகுதிரைமலிகடல் மணல் அணிபெறுதிடர் வளர்திருமிழலையே
is tirumiḻalai where high level grounds that grow in extent and are made beautiful by the sound of the sea where there are many waves.

along with the head of takkaṉ of little mind and devoid of good sense who despised pārvati.
அழல் உருவன கரம் அற முனிவு செய்தவன் உறைபதி
the abode of Civaṉ who cut off the seven hands of the god of fire to be served (as the hands of the god of fire are seven in number the plural case ending is used)
கலை நிலவிய புலவர்கள் இடர் களைதரு கொடை பயில்பவர்மிகு, சிலைமலிமதிள் புடை தழுவிய திகழ் பொழில் வளர் திருமிழலையே
is tirumiḻalai where thriving gardens are by the side of the wall of enclosure built of stones and where liberal donors are on the increases who completely remove the needs of poets in whom knowledge is permanent

உரம் மிகு பிணம் அமர் வன இருளிடை அடை உறவொடு நடவிசை உறுபரன்
the supreme god, Civaṉ who dances with speed together with pūtams which reach him, in the darkness of night in the cremation-ground there are very strong corpses.
இனிது உறைபதி
the city where he dwells with pleasure.
தெருவினில் வரு பெரு விழவு ஒலி மலிதரவளர் திருமிழலையே
is flourshing tirumiḻalai where during big festivals when the deities are taken in procession in the streets, the bustle increases.

{$} அணிபெறு வடமர நிழலினில் அமர்வொடும் அடியிணை இருவர்கள் பணிதர
when the four sages two on each side made obeisance to the feet, being seated under the shade of the beautiful banyan tree.
அறநெறி மறையொடும் அருளிய பரன்உறைவு இடம்
the abode of the supreme god who expounded the right conduct with vētams.
ஒளிமணிபொருவரும் மரகதம் நிலம் மலி புனல் அணைதரு வயல் அணிதிருமிழலை
is tirumiḻalai which is made beautiful of fields where abundant water is in the ground, which is like the emerald which has no comparison with any other brilliant precious stone, because of its depth.
திணிபொழில் தருமணம் மதுநுகர் அறுபதம் முரல் திருமிழலை
tirumiḻalai where bees having six legs hum having sucked the fragrant honey in the dense gardens.

{$} வசை அறுவலிவனசரவுருவது கொடு
assuming the form of a hunter possessing strength without any blemish, and fighting strongly with vacayaṉ who performed such severe penance that even sages could not think of, so that pārvati can know his strength.
அசைவு இலபடை அருள் புரிதரும் அவன் உறைபதி அது
the city where the god who granted a weapon which knows no defeat, dwells.
மிகுதரு திசையினில் மலர் குலவிய செறிபொழில் மலிதரு திருமிழலையே
is tirumiḻalai where there are many dense gardens where flowers are shining wherever one turns his looks.

{$} நலம் மலிதரு மறைமொழியொடு, நதி உறுபுனல், புகை, ஒளி முதல், மலர் அவைகொடு வழிபடுதிறல் மறையவன் உயிர் அதுகொளவரு, சலம் மலிதரு மறலிதன் உயிர்கெட உதைசெய் அரன் உறைபதி
the city where Civaṉ who kicked to remove the life of the god of death who came with where araṉ who kicked to remove the life of the god of death who came with malicious anger to take away the life of the brahmin (mārkkaṇtēyaṉ) who had the strength of mind to worship Civaṉ with mantirams of vētams which do good, water from the river (Kaṅkai), incense, lamps and flowers.
திலகம் இது என உலகுகள் புகழ்தருபொழில் அணி திருமிழலையே
is tirumiḻalai adorned by gardens, which is praised by all the worlds as being eminent among the cities.

{$} அரன் உறைதரு கயிலையை நிலைகுலைவது செய்த தசமுகனது கரம் இருபதும் நெரிதர விரல் நிறுவிய கழல் அடி உடையவன்
Civaṉ who has feet which wear Kaḻai, and who set up his toe to crush the twenty hands of the arakkaṉ of ten faces who shook the mountain, Kayilai where araṉ dwells, from its position.
வரன்முறை உலகு அவைதரும் மலர் வளர் மறையவன் வழி வழுவிய சிரம் அதுகொடு
holding the skull of maṟaiyavaṉ who is thriving on a lotus flower, who erred from the right path, and who created all the worlds according to tradition.
பலிதிரிதரு சிவன் உறைபதி திருமிழலையே
tirumiḻalai is the place where Civaṉ who wanders for alms, dwells.

{$} அயனொடும் எழில் அமர்மலர் மகள் மகிழ் (1) கணன் அளவிடல் ஒழிய
Kaṇṇaṉ who is the joy of the beautiful goddess of wealth who is seated in the red lotus, along with Ayaṉ, to give up measuring (கண்ணன் has become கணன்)
ஓர்பயம் உறுவகை தழல் நிகழ்வது ஓர்படி உரு அதுவர
assuming a form which was shining as a mass of five to be frightened.
சயசய என மிகு துதிசெயவெளி உருவிய அவன் உறைபதி
the abode of Civaṉ who went beyond the sky for both of them to praise very much saying victory, victory!
செயம் நிலவிய மதில்மதி அது தவழ்தர உயர்திருமிழலையே
is tirumiḻalai where on the wall of fortification which was always victorious and so high that the moon had to crawl on it.

{$} இகழ் உருவொடு பறிதலை கொடும் இழிதொழில் மலிசமண் விரகினர், திகழ் துவர்உடை உடல் பொதிபவர் கெட
the camaṇar who are cunning and commit mean acts with bodies to be despised and with plucking the hairs on their heads, and the buddhists who cover their bodies with a robs soaked in shining yellow ochre, to meet with ruin.
அடியவர் மிக அருளி
granting his grace to devotees in an abundant measure.
புகழ் உடைஇறை உறைபதி
the city where the master with fame dwells.
புனல் அணிகடல்புடை தழுவிய புவி திகழ் சுரர்தரு (1) நிகர்கொடையினர் செறிவொடு திகழ்தரு மிழலையே
is eminent tirumiḻalai where in this earth which is surrounded by the ocean of beautiful water, liberal donors who can be compared to the Kaṟpakam, the divine tree, are conspicuous by their modesty.

about Tirumiḻalai where Civaṉ who flayed an angry elephant, dwells.
மிகுதனமனர் சிரபுரநகர் இறைதமிழ் விரகனது உரை ஒருபதும்
the ten verses of the expert in tamiḻ who is the chief of the city of cirāpuram (cīkāḻi) where great wealthy people live.
மனம் மகிழ்வொடு பயில்பவர்
those who practise singing them with their hearts full of joy.
எழில்மலர்மகள், கலைமகள், சயமகள், இனம்மலிபுகழ்மகள் இசைதர இருநிலனிடை இனிது அமர்வர்
will live happily in this wide world, as the goddess of wealth, goddess of knowledge, goddess of victory and goddess of fame which is of several kinds, being united in them.
